Offshore Venice La

Been operating a respectable volume of trips and the tuna fishing is commencing to flip again on. The bait is displaying up Threads pogies and child hardtails and that is generating all the big difference in the planet. The snapper fishing has been amazing as normal and the mangroves are even now hanging around. I have pulled fairly a few cobias as nicely some have been caught snapper fishing and some had been caught chumming for mangroves. Also nailed a few warsaws although none have been above about 60 pounds or so. The blue h2o has been relocating in and out even though it has constantly been within our array. I have been utilizing mostly sixty pound flouro for tuna to try out and get a few much more bites. The best day I had it damage me a little due to the fact we ran into some super stud tunas. We fought one particular for an hour and a half that ate a chunk and we never ever even saw it. That was a heartbreaker then we had a single try to eat a stay bait that took about 300 yards of lines on it 1st operate.

I am again at it this weekend and have a decent quantity of open dates coming up. Take pleasure in the pics.

Huge CONGRATS – WOUND UP James wins the 7th Annual Bermuda Billfish Blast!

Amazing come-from-behind victory! Way to go James!!!

July 6, 2011

WOUND UP WINS THE BLAST WITH 4 BLUE MARLIN RELEASES ON Final DAY
Includes Believed 700 AND 600 POUNDERS

The 44 boat fleet headed out on Day A few of the 7th Annual Bermuda
Billfish Blast to get pleasure from an additional beautiful day of calm deep blue h2o, and
to type out the location of near to a quarter million dollars well worth of
cash prizes that have been nonetheless quite much up for grabs.

I certain called it yesterday when I mentioned that &quotany of the 44 boats can even now
just take this factor if they get hot tomorrow&quot, and certain sufficient there was 1
staff that stepped up to plate Huge TIME. Capt. James Robinson and his team
on &quotWound Up&quot place on a clinic. The very first two days of the tournament were
sluggish for them with just a couple of sniffs from whites and a wahoo attack, but
that all changed in the morning on Day Three.

First it was the tournament leader &quotSea’duce&quot that threatened to open up a
gap when they hooked-up at eight:54 am, but things arrived unstuck right after far more than
20 minutes of battle. No one on the leader board felt threatened when
&quotWound Up&quot hooked-up at 9:31 am and then launched a blue marlin at 9:40 am.
Then &quotSea Toy&quot introduced a blue marlin at ten:29 am, which place them into the
tournament lead on 1,200 factors. &quotWound Up&quot then released one more blue
marlin at eleven:00 am. This second blue was believed to be in the 600 lb
class and it catapulted them into 3rd Spot total and established a company
grip on the Day A few Jackpots. But Capt. James Robinson and angler Michael
Medeiros have been not finished nevertheless, and the fleet was astonished at eleven:37 am when
the phone came out that &quotWound Up&quot is hooked-up once more. 11 minutes later on, at
11:48 am, &quotWound Up&quot had accomplished a gorgeous operate from zero factors to currently being
the new tournament leader.

&quotWeez in the Keys&quot was the only other crew to release a blue marlin in the
morning. Nonetheless, the white party carried on with early morning white marlin
releases for &quotMattanza&quot, &quotQue Mas&quot, &quotMojo&quot, &quotNotorious&quot, &quotCookie Monster&quot,
&quotDouble B&quot, &quotReel Addiction&quot, &quotOff Piste&quot and &quotReel Estate&quot.

Whilst the team on &quotWound Up&quot searched for that fourth billfish that would
undoubtedly protected whole victory, a furious battle ensued to catch-up and/or
safe 2nd or 3rd area. Shortly ahead of 2:30 pm, both &quotRameseas&quot and
&quotSea’duce&quot hooked-up. &quotRameseas&quot launched a blue marlin at 2:38 pm which
place them on 1,200 factors and into third Location. This kicked &quotSea’duce&quot into
fourth, but not for extended because they introduced their blue marlin at 2:57
pm, which moved them up to 1,500 points and into 2nd Spot, powering &quotWound
Up&quot on time.

The outcome of the tournament was last but not least put to mattress when &quotWound Up&quot hooked
up Yet again at 3:27 pm. This was a truly huge blue marlin, but with the
extremely skilled Capt. James Robinson at the helm they secured the
release inside 20 minutes. At three:46 pm they introduced their FOURTH blue
marlin of the DAY and this fish seemed to be in the 700 lb class (lucky for
the fish it really is obligatory release format). &quotWound Up&quot was the 6th boat to
appreciate the lead in this tournament, but with underneath an hour to go it was the
first time in the tournament that any staff had established a 500 level
lead.

In all the chaos a really specific feat was attained by another regional boat.
As already famous, Michael Batista and group on &quotMojo&quot scored a white marlin
release in the morning. They then introduced a spearfish at 1:40 pm, and had been
functioning on a scarce slam. They did not have to wait around prolonged for their likelihood –
significantly less then twenty minutes after releasing the spearfish, angler Geoffrey Redmond
was hooked-up tight to a blue marlin and soon after a 35 minute battle the
release was secured at two:33 pm. To the best of my expertise this is the
first slam ever before recorded by any staff in a billfish tournament in Bermuda.
It definitely has not been accomplished in the Triple Crown era. Enormous
Congratulations to Michael Batista, mate Terry Lewis, anglers Shane Dietz,
John Ringold, Geoffrey Redmond and the rest of the crew – a Actually Wonderful
ACHIEVEMENT !!!!! Interestingly, &quotNever Adequate&quot also accomplished a slam in
this tournament, but not all in the very same day – so not virtually the exact same
point, but a neat achievement anyway – effectively carried out to them too.

Also in the afternoon, there have been blue marlin releases for &quotNever Enough&quot,
&quotOff Piste&quot, &quotClick Through&quot and &quotQueen of Hearts&quot, two white marlin
releases for &quotWeez in the Keys&quot and single white marlin releases for
&quotMako&quot, &quotMargin Call&quot and &quotGreat Escape&quot.

Capt. James Robinson’s &quotWound Up&quot wins the 2011 Bermuda Billfish Blast.
They win First Place value $ 46,200, along with the Day A few Level A single and
Level Two Billfish Release Jackpots well worth an aggregate of $ 36,417, and they
take residence 50% of the Blue Marlin Jackpots really worth a even more $ 52,725. All in
whole dollars winnings of $ 135,342 !!!! &quotWound Up&quot also gets the very first
actually repeat champion of the Bermuda Billfish Blast – Capt. James also won
the 2009 Blast (as effectively as the 2009 Globe Cup). It really is also the second
consecutive Triple Crown tournament that &quotWound Up&quot has taken the glory in
the final day. In the 2010 Sea Horse tournament, &quotWound Up&quot won most of
the hard cash awards with an 858 lb blue marlin on the closing day. So, this is
one RED Scorching boat. Massive CONGRATULATIONS to Capt. James Robinson, mate
Brian Querry, angler Michael Medeiros and the rest of the awesome staff
aboard &quotWound Up&quot !!!!!!

Coastal Charters Sportfishing June Tuna

2011 has been a slow start for the bluefin bite up here, but despite that we managed to get into the fish almost every trip out, and landed some huge fish for the light tackle that we employ. Chasing 250-300 pound tuna on spinning set-ups would have been laughed at a few short years back, but we are proving that it can be done with regularity. Real nice to fight the fish instead of the gear!

Here are some photos of the madness, total tally for the month was 2 recreational fish under the 59" slot limit, another 11 tagged and released in the 59"-72" slot range, and 7 bluefin over 73" from 200-315#, all taken on either spin gear or light conventional jigging gear. We also did battle with 5 other "giants" one of which was a conservatively estimated 400# for 3.5 hours….what a month for light tackle tuna fishing here in southern New England.

Enjoy!
