Rough water kept the restless lady in between hotdog and the hook. 12 tuna bites, very rough in the morning when he were jumped a couple times. lost pair of big fish, brought three nice yellowfins home with 5 throwbacks, we should of had at least 4 more but rough water was not in the anglers favor. Low numbers today through out the fleet. We’re fishing everyday this week and we will keep the reports current all week.

We have 3 openings for this Thursday, July 14

Thanks from the Restless Lady

Strange questions about Jobu’s

When I rig my lures, I use three makes of hooks, Mustad 7691’s, Hays Hooks, and Jobu large video game. I utilized my final Jobu’s so picked up some new ten/ and eleven/. On taking them house an getting ready to make some new rigs, I discovered that the new hooks have been a totally distinct dimension from the ones I previously had rigged. In reality, my old Jobu’s, which I thought have been dimension 11, ended up actually more compact than the new 11/0’s, but greater than the ten/0’s…..And, I am 100% optimistic as to the size discrepency. Any person with any ideas?

I also went back again to the retailer that I obtained them from and checked other packages to make positive hooks werent swapped out or that i wasnt insane.

Thanks.

Great footage of a jumping mako

Found this bit of movie down-underneath. If you actually wondered how a mako could get its &quotdangerous&quot popularity, observe this. Massive jumps….. motion gets going at 1:55 into the film.

Sailfish #2…Getting Bigger

Properly we had a document breaking day in our tiny boat the other day…
1st up we caught a 7kg YF Tuna (on a YF Halco Max)hotly followed by a 3kg skippy (on a modest yellow squid w/double hook). then we did abit of substantial speed trollling and Elijah, my five yr outdated picked two lures, a single currently being a chrome head silver skirt lure that we ran for abit prior to the drag went off and kept on heading. we swung close to and backtracked abit then the fish went straight down, which had me thinking it was a big tuna, but it turned out to be a 26kg sailfish. When he went down i feel he go wrapped in the line and I ended up dragging him again to the surface area by his tail. When i obtained him to the boat he was quite significantly dead and had been hooked through a single of his eyes…OUCH!
I had hopes of a release this time but in his state he was pretty nicely dead by now, especially down an eye.
For the duration of the battle he never ever jumped the moment which i believed was strange for a sail…but this is only my second so I am no where close to an specialist.
The only thing in the sailfish gut was a long skinny trumpet fish 20cm prolonged about 5mm diameter…he need to have been hungry 🙂
The 36kg of fish is our biggest catch so far and all the fish caught was marketed and eaten. The man who purchased the sail fish calls it the &quotSalmon of the Sea&quot for it can be pinkish and delicious meat.
Would a foul hooked or hurt fish combat or act differently than a mouth hooked fish?
If they get wrapped in the line is it still possible to release them?
How do you guys establish if and when a fish will not survive following the fight?
What accidents to the fish di you establish to be deadly?
Any suggestions for us billfish novices would be appreciated.

Bluefin Time on the That’s Right

Nowadays was a very good day as we had been forced to modify our strategy

The weather conditions was somewhat of an problem right now and the ThatÂ’s Proper stayed in nearer to Ocean Metropolis inlet nowadays and it turned out that was a blessing

Stopped on the Bluefin humps hunting for a bluefin tuna rather of pushing off to the canyons. We managed a truly good when that measured out at 59 inches and 117lbs back at the dock. The yellowfin ended up being in a combine all around the bluefin grounds and Capt John place two good 40lb yellowfin tuna into the ice and missed 2 a lot more. He also caught a couple gaffer Mahi Mahi aka dolphin fish. So these days was a good blend

We have been really blessed this yr, The fishing has been outstanding

It appeared that those that created it to the canyons found some Marlin but struggled on the tuna.
