Offshore Fishing in Full Force / Trouts: “Let ’em Spawn, Let ’em Live”

Offshore:

Coming into mid-May possibly, it should be no shock that the offshore trolling bite has turned on in entire force in the past week. Reviews of sound catches of dolphin have been coming in from all above, and many billfish ended up also located in the past week out in the deep blue. Capt Bobby K aboard Daymaker released an additional white marlin along with very good catches of dolphin this past weekend. A very good pal of mine fished out of Edisto and also noted again with 19 dolphin, all identified just offshore of the ledge in 200-400ft of water. Even previously hearing of a few Blue Marlin currently being released, and quite a few blue marlin being seen and given the &quotlong-distance&quot release. With most (no red snapper or black sea bass at present can be possessed) bottom fishing being open once again, we had very a number of good studies of vermillion’s and some decent grouper coming in from all around the Comanche and Y-73 location. Most of the vermillion’s had been currently being caught on squid and other reduce baits, whilst the very best grouper’s I heard of have been taken on knife jigs. In addition to every little thing else heading on out on the big pond, good numbers of spadefish are becoming discovered on the Comanche.

Inshore:

Huge props to the SCDNR for taking a stand and pushing difficult for recreational anglers to catch and release as many trout as they can from now until finally September, in an work to reduce the amount of time for our trout fishery to rebound from two consecutive cold winters that definately took their toll on our stocks. &quotLet em Spawn, Let em Live&quot! However the trout bite is a tiny slow, the redfish bite is still vast open and the fish have truly taken to their summertime-time patterns of scattering out beneath docks, along rock piles, tailing in the grass when tides enable, and so on. Stay menhaden, dwell shrimp, Gulp! baits, and even topwater plugs have all been creating on the reds. Flounder has been very consistent as properly these days, with our great pal Kelly Burris reporting back again from consecutive journeys of flounder catches of ten-twenty fish (most launched). Mud minnows and live menhaden will be tough baits to beat appropriate now for an outdated doorway mat! Spanish Mackeral and bluefish are exhibiting up in excellent numbers, and can be caught on #00 clarkspoons about the suggestions of the jetties and by cruising the front beaches looking for birds.

What a great fishing season so far-Wrightsville Beach, NC Fishing Report

Attachment 192421Attachment 192420Attachment 192422Well individuals, we have had some cooler climate recently, but it would seem that it has not damage the fishing considerably at all. The water temps did not go down to a lot possibly a few degrees, but more than all the fishing has been good to wonderful most days. One factor I have noticed recently is a good quantity of bait showing up around the area, often a very good sigh!

Redfish fishing has been fairly good the last couple of weeks, but one thing I’ve discovered is the weekdays have had far more constancy of great Redfishing because of to all the fishing stress on the weekends. I have observed some really great Reds lately coming kind some shallow h2o spots, my consumers this final week have caught some Reds around thirty two inches inshore. Individuals are some great Reds for early May possibly in shallow h2o and on very light tackle. Utilizing greater baits has paid off for me in the previous two weeks with these greater fish starting to bite.

One particular of the winners for me in the final few weeks for the Reds has been the Berkley Gulp Ripple Mullet, now I know I chat about this bait a whole lot hey it performs! Fantastic swimming action and the proven fishing catching scent of Berkley Gulp! The colors I choose in the Ripple Mullet are rootbeer gold/chart tail, goby magic chart tail, new penny and pearl white for the Redfish. Rig these baits on a red, black, brown or gray jig head with a thirty to fifty pound mono or fluorocarbon leader and you are great to go! I’ve never ever been a huge person of spoons for Redfish, but I’ve been taking part in with a new spoon recently, properly new to me at least. The spoon is a product of Sébile and it’s named an Onduspoon let me inform you this spoon has received some action! I’ve caught some extremely wonderful Reds and Chopper Blues on this spoon in the final handful of weeks. The Onduspoon has rattles built in to it great action and sound. The shades I choose are gold, all-natural shiner, blue althea and red head check out them out at www.sebile.com

If you would fairly go with the live/cut bait root for the Redfish, there is lots on bait around modest mullet and menhaden are in most of the regional creeks. The days I’ve caught bait, a single cast of my internet has yielded plenty bait for the day. Light Carolina rigs with an Eagle Claw L 42 #1 or one/ hook and twelve to sixteen inches of forty pound mono for leader as a rig. Fishing creek mouths, oyster rock edges and marsh grass lines will produce Redfish for you. Just keep in mind fresh lively baits will catch far more fish!

There has been just about all the Bluefish you want around the inlets lately and a great amount of Spanish mackerel exhibiting up as nicely. Trolling Clark spoons and modest deep driver lures has been the crucial to good results. Clark spoons in measurements #, #00 and #one in colours silver, gold and pink flash seem to be to work the very best. Thirty or forty pound apparent mono leader will perform just fine and don’t neglect the ball bearing swivels for people Clark spoons to keep you leaders from tingling up! There have been a few great Chopper (even bigger) Blues close to the inlets in the final number of weeks casting greater lures like the Onduspoon #3 or shallow h2o crank baits will locate these even bigger Blues. Just remembers a light steal leader for these fish for they will bite appropriate through mono leaders.

Flounder fishing is genuinely picking up all around the location. Most of the Flounder are eating little menhaden and Mud minnows on light Carolina rigs. The Flounder are mixed in dimensions to just under keeper dimension to a few more than 5 lbs. I have caught some Flounder on Artificial baits as effectively. I have had the very best luck with Berkley Gulp mud minnow in pearl white, sardine, killifish and new penny shades. Rig the grubs on a red or black jig head for very best benefits. Flounder fishing ought to keep constant correct by means of the summer time and drop.

Last but in no way lest Cobia are commencing to demonstrate up close to the area waters. I appear for Cobia about inlets, shoals and bait schools near shore/offshore reefs and ledges are also a good spot to appear as well. With the h2o currently being so distinct it has been easier to see individuals brown logs in the h2o. We are throwing big jigs, swim baits and reside bait to the Cobia. Coloration really does not appear to subject but “go bright”! When I’m not sight casting for them, we are fishing all around inlets, shoals and close to shore artificial reefs. I float fish, bottom fish and kite fish in these places with reside menhaden, blues and mullet as bait. You can chum if you like, but the sharks will arrive and they will come in numbers!

Fishing Gear I use:

Reels Penn Fierce and Battle spinning in measurements 2000, 3000 &amp 4000 dimensions. Cobia Fishing reels: Penn Battle 5000, 6000 &amp 7000, Penn 320LD. Line: Spiderwire Ultra-cast and Berkley Fireline braid in 8, ten and fifteen pound. Cobia Line: thirty pound Berkley Big Game Mono. Rods: Fenwick HMG GS 70M-MF, Unsightly stick lites 6’6” and 7’ Med &amp Med-Large. Cobia Rods: Ugly Stik Tiger Lite Jigging sequence in fifty-100 course spinning and casting. Leader materials: Berkley Large Game mono &amp Fluorocarbon. Stren Fluorocarbon leader substance in Tannic and Gunsmoke tints tannic for river and stained waters, gunsmoke for clear water apps.

Thank you for studying this report, if you have any concerns just let me know! If you would like to go fishing drop me a line I’m booking now for this coming summertime fishing time and don’t forget to take a child fishing!

Islamorada Dolphin Fishing Report – Pretty Work & That’s Right – 5/6/11

Each That’s Correct and the Fairly Work have been out yesterday in research of a very good dolphin bite. On That’s Right Captain John Oughton reviews a couple of good gaffers with the biggest fish at about 25 lbs with a hand complete of schoolies. On the Pretty Perform Captain Joe Bonvetti mentioned they had a genuine difficult time obtaining any bait so dead ballyhoos had to do. They located some dolphin up to 20 lbs but it was true sluggish so they headed inside of and were really profitable with the yellowtails in the 2-four lb array.

Here is Captain John Oughton’s Fishing Report and Captain Joe Bonvetti’s Fishing Report.

Panama Big Game Fishing Club – Fishing Report April 2011 – New Owner

PRESS RELEASE

5th MAY, 2011

NEW OWNER Mr "C", BUYS THE "PANAMA BIG GAME FISHING CLUB", Isla Boca Brava, Panama

Multi-Million Dollar Investment in Club infrastructure upgrade and 400ft Dock Extension.

Dear PBGFC Members,

Hi, my name is Mark Charman, but my friends call me Mr "C", and I am pleased to announce that I have purchased your club the, " Panama Big Game Fishing Club" . Having spent several years looking for the right fishing resort to purchase – "Panama Big Game Fishing Club" is that "Resort".

Just to let you have some understanding, as to who I am, and to my intentions with the Club. Basically I am a 48 year old British guy from Jersey, Channel Islands, UK, who has been residing in Dubai and the Seychelles for the past 11 years. I have enjoyed business success in the Computer Industry, IT Recruitment, Oil and Gas and the Real Estate sector, but more importantly have been a passionate sports fishermen, since the age of 4.

My boat the M/Y Mistress and it’s crew recently entered the "Seychelles National Fishing Tournament" on the 16th April, 2011, and broke the Seychelles record for the biggest Giant Barracuda, (all tackle) – needless to say a lot of beer was drunk in celebration at the bar that night.

Anyway, enough of the preamble, let’s get down to the heart of the matter, I have been informed that there has been considerable speculation as to the future of the club, for quite some time now. So let me inform all of you, what is about to happen, should the majority give me their, "nod of approval". (I have no intention of swimming upstream with this project, you tell me what you want, and I will try to allocate the budget to make it happen).

I HAVE BOUGHT THE CLUB, AND INTEND TO TURN IT INTO AN OLD PEOPLES HOME !!!.

"NO, ONLY JOKING", (I could hear the American clientele screaming from here), THE CLUB IS GOING TO BE THE BEST BOUTIQUE CLUB IN THE WORLD, AND THE PRICES ARE GOING TO REMAIN THE SAME FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS, FOR THE EXISTING 4 CABINS (Which will be super luxury within the next 6 weeks, at the same price).

Now having said that, I have a hell of a lot of fishing friends, who want to come and catch a Huge Marlin or a Monster Tuna etc, I have promised Capt Lee, and he made it one of his conditions of retaining his services, that I give him 3 months for his regular clients (I.e. Clients that have fished with the club before, to be given preference, before I bring in my fishing buddies, this I have happily agreed to).

But I give you fair warning, as of September 1st, I am opening up the booking sheet to all my fishing mates, and I will be very surprised if you will be able to get 1 days fishing from the 15th December, 2011 until the 1st May, 2012, so please do not moan to me about giving my buddies preferential treatment. You, the members, have preferential treatment, so if you want to fish, then pick up the phone and book your fishing dates with Capt Lee on +507 66744824 NOW.

This special treatment to our members is giving me some very serious grief with my friends, but that was the price I had to pay to keep Capt Lee on, and I also agree with his sense of fair play (please don’t tell my my mates I said that, eat this letter after you have read it, otherwise I will need a completely new set of friends).

The area surrounding Boca Brava has one of the finest big game fisheries in the world, and is a virtually untapped resource. With the airport extension at David well underway clients will soon be able to fly direct to David internationally and not have to transfer through Panama City anymore, should they so wish.

My main criteria in buying PBGFC over and above other establishments that I have looked at around the world is the sheer size and abundance of the fish all year round, their staff and the quality of the food. Prior to my arrival I was told that all were world class. I found that information to be, if anything, an understatement. Needless to say all of the team will be staying on at the club, and are very excited at the new investment and development that is about to take place.

It is our vision to make PBGFC, one of the most unique Sport Fishing locations in the world – both for our visiting anglers and for private sport fishing yachts – we aim to provide a full service jetty with the Private Club feel. To this end I will be extending the existing jetty by over 400 feet and adding a waterside swimming pool/Jacuzzi with swim up bar plus a casual barasiti bar for anglers.

I am also completely renovating the Club, and will be able to take care of private sport fishing yachts with full service – including the provision of diesel and commercial quantities of ice, from our ice making plant across the waterway at Boca Chica.

This is what you can expect to see in the coming months.

1). All existing boats completely overhauled and re-equipped like brand new, with new engines where necessary

2). The addition of two new top spec boats to the fleet.

3). Doubling the size of the dock

4). Installing IGFA approved scales, and sending 2-3 employees on an IGFA course to become official IGFA approved weigh masters to certify our clients world records.

5). New employee quarters with full air conditioning and terrace with BBQ.

6). High Speed Wi-Fi throughout the resort, with Wi-Fi printing and scanning

7). Creation of a business centre for the use of clients and members with PC and Apple computers and complete with color printers/photo printers, Scanners, Fax and Photo-copiers

8). First of 8 new cabins – 6/7 star rated – extreme luxury. My designer Katie from Durban, South Africa, arrives and starts work 7th May, 2011 and will not be allowed home until she has finished.

9). Existing 4 cabins, will be re-made to 5/6 star standards, equipped with state of the art LED TV with DVD players, and luxury bath rooms, new soft furnishings and furniture, with individual fridges (filled with free beer).

10). Install, two swimming pools, one outside the club house, and the other on the deck overlooking the dock and the waterway (both with swim up bars).

11). New train with level floor and roof.

12). We will be building a retaining wall, for the entire sea facing side of the property.

13). Extensive Landscaping and Gardening.

Finally I would like to make this statement, " All of my life, whenever I have found a special fishing lodge, it has been ruined and priced out of my reach, by some get rich quick guy, who caught a fish once, and thinks it’s a great idea to own a fishing club", this is not going to happen with this club.

Right from the "GET GO", this is my promise to you, the members who have made this club, what it is, over the past 10 years, "I will immediately drop ONE MILLION DOLLARS into the club to improve the boats, accommodations, infrastructure, club house and the facilities that we offer our employees, AND THERE WILL BE NO INCREASE IN PRICE FOR THIS UPGRADE". There will be significant future investment in Stages 2 and 3 of our development plan. Which include a gymnasium and another restaurant with a small Spa (If the members want it). Plus Jet-Ski fishing, my latest favorite way to fish with a fly-rod, if you have never tried it you should – takes a lot of skill – plus Kayak Fishing, again great fun).

However, there are some of us who are going to die sooner than others, who have saved up our pennies and who would like a little bit of extreme luxury, therefore, I will build a few more cabins, to cater for these clients, who will be charged more for their fishing experience (I hope that seems fair- some people like to travel 1st Class!).

Anglers that have fished with us before, are going to be offered first chance rights on every week, every boat and every opportunity, as a thank you for supporting the club and building it to where it is today, and where it is heading to tomorrow.

THIS IS MY PROMISE TO OUR MEMBERS.

Remember, Capt Rob, Capt Bill and especially Capt Lee and his team built this club, (with your loyalty and help), It has enjoyed 10 years of success (with limited capital) with the support of the 1,000 loyal band of people who come back year after year. NOW your loyalty is going to be rewarded, I am going to invest a serious amount of money into the club to make it, the best fishing club in the world. This will be achieved with the help of everyone, and I am world famous for not being to proud to steal someone else’s great idea, so come on let’s hear your ideas, if they are any good, we will steal and implement them sooner rather than later, and that my friends, is a Mr "C" promise !!!.

I feel that I am not buying the Club, rather I have taken over the baton, and it is now my turn to take the Club, to the next level, This I can do, if I am shown the same level of loyalty and support that you have shown to my predecessors for the past 10 years, (who will be helping in the background, and have been made life time members, so they have NOT GONE, and have not been forgotten). And Capt Lee will be running the show, same as always !!!.

Tight Lines for now, (and I will be at the club for the whole month of May, should anyone want a chat)

Best Regards

P.S. My pride of Joy is my M/Y Mistress which is moored at Eden Island, Mahe Seychelles She is the most tricked out Afri-Cat 420 Power Cat ever made! She is totally custom, and any one who is familiar with the Afri-Cat 420 knows that they come fully equipped. Well what my team and I did, was redesign everything. To make it easier for the layman to understand just how amazing the M/Y Mistress is it is this simple – take the cost of one Afri-Cat 420 then triple the brand new purchase price with extras and add-on’s and you start to understand the capability of this amazing CAT-A ship.

Not much that I need to add to the above except I am excited about all of the positive changes-plus all boats will be twin diesel Sportfish with at least 25 knot cruise-which is the huge deal for me – Capt Lee Allen Campbell

Have the Best Season of Your Life – Canyon Runner Fishing Report Service

For a number of years a group of choose fisherman ended up members of the Canyon Runner Fishing Report Support. We constrained it to just 20 boats and in so carrying out have not marketed this service to the public – only mentioning it to individuals at our Canyon Runner Seminars. Nonetheless, this 12 months we are rising the membership to twenty five boats and offered out the added 5 spots at our Seminars but not every person has compensated up however so we are releasing 2 spots for new subscribers.

What is the Canyon Runner Fishing Report Services? Nicely, just about the greatest possibility you are going to have to be place appropriate on the bite each and every time you leave the dock. We provide up to the minute, hands-on, reel time fishing reviews by phone 24 hrs a day.

Each our Canyon Runner boats fish the canyons each and every single day from extremely early June by way of November one – from Block Canyon to Baltimore Canyon. What this gives you is specific understanding as to what is going on up and down the edge, specifically as it is heading on, specifically in which it is heading on, each and every single day of the period from the bridge and cockpit of our two boats.

These are not rumors you hear on the dock or in tackle outlets. These are not fishing reviews from your buddies or the web that are days or even weeks aged. This is precisely what is going on on the edge as it is going on. Not only will you be in a position to discover out just exactly where our boats are as you are leaving the dock and what they are performing – you will be ready to phone and uncover out precisely wherever they are even though you are out there and wherever just the bite is.

More than a normal canyon year, after you’ve by now invested hundreds of thousands of bucks on your boat, you devote tens of countless numbers a lot more on your products and fuel. Then you spend thousands a lot more on bait and thousands more on lures. You nevertheless have not put in one dime on the most critical thing – Info!! Why? Most likely due to the fact that information is not easily offered. It is now!!!!! Exact GPS numbers, exact lures and bait, exact occasions of day the bite turned on, actual trolling pattern, velocity, h2o temp.

The cost of this details is basically the value of fuel for one canyon trip – $ 999. That price will be compensated again in total on your very first canyon trip of the yr when you knowingly go to just wherever the fish are as a substitute of investing 50 percent or even all of your trip just hunting. In fact, as all of our prior members have stated at least when if not two or three times a yr that – the cost of the support is compensated back in entire as prolonged as you pay attention to every thing we tell you.

In fact, you need to prepare on continual e mail contact and phone make contact with with me 24 hours a day – specifically when you are offshore. I would strongly suggest that anyone signing up make positive you purchase a SAT phone and give me the SAT telephone number. The explanation is when I know you are offshore I will be calling you when I hear of a bite heading on and you may not be on the fish.

In summary, the twenty five boats that sign up for this will be handled like one particular of the boats in &quotCanyon Runner Fleet

LAKE LANIER IS FULL, THE CREEKS ARE SLIGHTLY STAINED AND THE MAIN LAKE IS CLEAR & 65 DEGREES.

Bass fishing is good and the temperatures are warming fast. The Mini Me spinnerbait in the all white is a great fast bait to cover a lot of water and catch some huge spots. Concentrate on wind blown points and sandy pockets on the main lake and just inside any main lake creek. The Sammy and Rico bite will be on once the wind dies down but the bigger fish will come on the Mini Me and the Zoom Super Flukes and a Scrounger head. On the retrieve for both the Mini Me use a very rapid retrieve to trigger those fish into biting your bait. The fish need to see this bait racing by them and this will get them into their investigative mode and attack the baits. We are using Sufix 832 braid to make super long casts and get the hook ups from the long casts. Be sure to tie a double Palomar knot on any braid so it will not slip out. The docks in Shoal Creek from marker #1 all the way to the back of the creek at the ramp, has a lot of bass shallow. Spots seem to be on every point on the lake from the dam all the way up past Gainesville. For the really big fish, use the ¾ ounce spinnerbait and work these points with long casts. Solid white blades can be seen from great distances and the fish will even chase these baits back to the boat. After the spinnerbait, the green finesse worm is hard to beat for numbers daily. Rig the worm up on a light Spot Sticker lead head or even a plain lead head ¼ ounce weight. The Zoom finesse worms in Limeaide on a Texas rig and brass and glass is also a great way to catch these fish. The fish are at 8 to 12 feet all day and even shallower at night. The big rock island in the back of Big Creek is a great day and night location for both sizes and numbers of fish.

This Lake Lanier Striper report is from Captain Ken West and Captain Mike Maddalena of Big Fish On! Guide Service, 404 561 2564. www.bigfishonguide.com

Striper fishing is good. The weather continues to be the key. Storms, high winds and cold fronts continue to make fishing challenging. There is an early morning bite with some quality fish being caught. The numbers of fish being caught is improving and if the weather holds the fishing should ire up this week. Flat line herring 80 to 100 feet back with planner boards at 50 feet back continues to be the best bet. After about 9:00am start weighting your lines with split shots and move over deeper water. A large gizzard on a balloon about 150 feet back is always a good idea. Hang a down rod over the side and adjust the depth as needed. With the increase in water temperatures the top water bite should kick in any day. It’s time to tie on a Red Fin, Chug Bug or Spook and spend a little time throwing to points. The fish are starting to move out of the backs of the creeks and will start to move up on points from half way to the mouth of the creeks. The spots are biting and can keep your grandchildren busy during the slow periods. They will also skin your herring without you knowing. Keep an eye on your lines and check your baits often. We pulled umbrella rigs again this week without any success. The fish are scattered lake wide from the mouth of the creeks to half way back. The north end has improved with a few fish being caught in Sardis Creek, Ada Creek and Gainesville creek are good places to start. Bald Ridge, Shoal and Flowery Branch have been slow this week.

April 29, 2011

WEST POINT LAKE IS DOWN 2 FEET, STAINED & 73 DEGREES BY CHRIS BELL

Bass fishing has been excellent. Fish are mixed between pre spawn, spawn, and post spawn with most being in post spawn. The pattern has changed little over the last week except for a little more stain in the water column. This is a time for your soft plastics. Use lizards and creature baits in the backs of pockets. Our best colors have been green pumpkin and watermelon depending on the stain. We fish these baits Texas rig with a 3/16 ounce lead with a 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook. With the wind we have had over the last weeks some areas are more stained than others so switching back and forth is recommended using green pumpkin with more stain. Our best areas have been mid lake from Wehadkee creek to the 109 Bridge.

Line side fishing is good. The best fishing has been north of Ringer access. Drop live shad and cut bait in deeper holes in the river. The bite has been the best when current is present so check generation schedules before heading out. Early in the morning some schooling action is beginning to start in short pockets with shad. Use small ¼ ounce lipless crankbaits in chrome or a top water Pop-R in shad pattern. Schooling action can be very quick so be prepared.

Crappie fishing has been great. Fish have been caught in two ways. There are a few beds left, but most have left to stage on docks and brush piles. Use live minnows below corks approximately two to three feet deep. The best creeks have been mid lake in Whitewater and Wilson creeks.

LAKE ALLATOONA IS 2.1 FEET OVER FULL, 66 DEGREES AND CLEAR

The Lake Allatoona bass fishing report is by Matt Driver, 404-456-6094, www.proanglerradio.com

Bass fishing is fair and most bass of the fish are off the beds this week as we see tournament weights go down. Top water is getting better for sure. Bass are post spawn and are to eating. Main-lake areas at daybreak are starting to get exciting with some schooling activity. Baits like the Spro Dawg and Spook Jr. are the ticket. Move the baits fast, using a walk the dog motion. Fish may bust the bait several times before the hookup and having nerves of steel is the key. The jig head squirrel tail worm and small jigs are getting good on rocky banks and bluffs. Also, the big bite Jerk minnow has been getting good numbers on secondary points and shad colors are best.

This Lake Allatoona striper and hybrid fishing guides report has been brought to you exclusively by Robert Eidson of First Bite Guide Service, 770 827 6282. www.firstbiteguideservice.com Lake Allatoona, Georgia email: eidson6260@comcast.net

Line side fishing is good and the up river bite is off the charts. You can catch 40 or 50 2 to 5 pound hybrids a day up the Etowah from Knox Bridge to the ball parks in Canton. Small bait is the key to this bite. Go with medium shiners or threadfins and fish right on the bottom. Cut bait and chicken livers will also work. If you don’t want to get into the boat traffic up the river, Allatoona Creek also has a decent amount of fish. We have been catching bigger stripers and hybrids in Allatoona Creek but there is no where near as many fish as up the river. They are hitting a little bigger bait and the gizzards and threadfins on free lines and planer boards will work better down lake than up river. Make sure you have some type of top water ready when you get bit. Bring the fish up to the boat, but don’t land it. Four or five others will follow it up and you can get a double or triple by being quick with a top water bait. Use the X Rap in the bone color. The trolling bite is dead. You best bet right now is live bait. The bite is getting better and better with each passing day.

LAKE HARTWELL IS FULL, & 62 DEGREES

Bass fishing is good and the sight fishing shallow pockets is still working. Bass are still cruising the shallow pockets. Use the Net Boy Baits 1/8 ounce jig head rigged with a Zoom watermelon seed trick worm or a weightless Zoom magnum trick worm. Use the Zoom Speed Craw rigged on a 5/16 ounce spot sticker jig head. If the wind is blowing, fish the same areas with a Lucky Craft Redemption Spinnerbait or a Lil Dude rigged with a Zoom Super Fluke. Fish the rocky secondary points with a Lucky Craft Staysee 90 or Weightless Zoom Super Fluke will work. The blue backs will go to the blow throughs and on shoal markers. The bass that spawn early will be on the same areas and there can be some schooling activity. You might want to have a Lucky Craft Sammy tied on just in case you encounter some of this activity.

LAKE RUSSELL IS FULL, CLEAR & 71 DEGREES

Bass fishing is good and the bigger fish are being caught around wood using a Redemption chartreuse and white spinnerbait. There are a lot of buck bass up shallow on the secondary points, and you can catch them on a Carolina, a trick worm or Texas rigged Zoom lizard or curly tail worm in green pumpkin. There are still some fish out on the main lake and mouths of major creeks that seem to be keying on baitfish, especially when the wind is blowing. When you find these conditions, you can run a Blade runner or Pulse Jig through these areas. The next couple of weeks, we should see a lot of fish cruising the banks looking for food.

CLARK HILL IS DOWN 3.2 FEET, STAINED & 73 DEGREES

Bass fishing is good and spinner baits and buzz baits are producing well during early morning Fish any wood points, grass and lay downs. Also use a white Zoom Trick worm rigged weightless with a swivel about 10 inches above the bait. A 3/8 ounce Rat L Trap is also very easy to fish and the bass love this size. After the early morning bite has slowed, soft plastics have been the ticket. Carolina rigs with Trick and Finesse worms have produced well on points and a short distance off seawalls. Texas rigs with green trick worms and Culprit green shad worms will work on docks and lay downs. Use a chartreuse and white and a combination of mixed the blades with nickel or white willow leaf blades bait any time of the day. When fishing an area of spawning shad, try to match the bait size with the size of the shad. Top water baits like a Pop R, Chug Bug, or a Devils Horse are working well.

LAKE SEMINOLE IS FULL, STAINED AND 76 DEGREES

Bass fishing is good and the water is warming fast. Get out the spinnerbait and beat all the grass beds mid lake. Also fish the current breaks along islands of the main lake or in canals just off the rivers. Fish a Spro Superstar Spinnerbait with dual Colorado blades in chartreuse and white with gold blades. Fish the spinnerbait with the current and not against it. Another good pattern is flipping any type of vegetation along the river banks and in the pockets off of the main river channel. Use a good flipping rod such as a 7’6" Falcon Expert and heavy braid. The best bait for flipping is a 4" Big Bite Baits Fighting Frog in Prime Rib. Use a 1 ounce True Tungsten weight and a 5/0 straight shank Gamakatsu hook. The old frog colored Jitterbug will also work and anyone can use this old lure to catch bass all day.

LAKE GEORGE IS FULL, 69 DEGREES & STAINED

Bass fishing is good there is a good morning and evening feeding period and this is a good top water time especially near the Hydrilla. Buzz baits, Pop R’s and Flukes will work. Once the sun gets up get to the ledges and drops with the Rapala DT 10 crank baits. Good bass schools are right out on the ledges in front of Lakepoint all the way down to the dam. The fish seem to be holding in the 6 to 12 feet deep all day. Carolina rigs and crank baits are the best choices for these fish. The ledge bite will explode any day and when it does, there is no better time to head to Lake Eufaula. Just take a lot of large deep diving crank baits and a long cast rod. Keep a Zoom Super Fluke ready in pearl and use the Swarming Hornet Lil Due lead head to get the bigger bites.

LAKE WEISS IS .43 FEET OVER FULL, LIGHT STAIN & 69 DEGREES BY MARK COLLINS GUIDE SERVICE

Now available for sale 50 of my proven GPS waypoints for off shore structure for Bass and Crappie fishing on Weiss Lake, Alabama. E mail ken@havefunfishing.com

Bass fishing is good and some good largemouth are being caught. Most of the females are off the beds, but some fish are coming off and moving to the grass as it is turning green. Double willow spinner baits, jigs, tubes and plastic lizards and worms are catching these fish. Some fish are starting to be caught flipping shallow docks also. Spotted bass are showing up on gravel or rocky secondary points and humps in the cove’s and bay’s. Rat L Traps, Crank Baits and Spinner Baits are catching these fish.

Crappie fishing is fair and some fair stringers of fish are being caught trolling in 3 to 5 feet of water on 1/24th ounce Jiffy Jigs in colors JJ11, JJ12, JJ13, JJ17, JJ20, JJ24, JJ25, JJ34, JJ37. Mud Creek is also producing some good fish. All the creeks in the Riverside area are producing some fish trolling in 3 to 5 feet of water. Godfrey’s is also producing some fish. Crappie are starting to move under the docks. Church House cove and Anderson’s cove, Little Nose and Big Nose creeks are producing some crappie under the dock’s, some fish are being caught on shallow brush on minnows under a float. Most of the fish are post spawn and have moved to 6 to 10 feet of water.

Striper fishing is fair and they are spawning way up in the head waters of the Chattooga River and the Coosa River, Live or cut shad on the bottom on a Carolina rig is a great way to catch these spawning fish.

LAKE OCONEE IS FULL, 74 DEGREES AND STAINED UP RIVER

Bass fishing is good and up the rivers there is a heavy stain main lake light stain and Richland creek is clear. The shad are still spawning and the bass are up on the banks at first light. Rattle traps are producing a lot of fish early in the day. Small crank baits fished in the same areas will also produce. Match you bait color to the water color. Another pattern that is also producing good numbers of fish it worm fishing under docks from the middle of the coves or creeks to the back. A Zoom 6in. U tail worm fished Texas rigged has been out producing all others. The shad spawn has been going on for two weeks. It could be over any day so get to the lake soon and have some fun as the bass and hybrids chase these baits up on the bank.

Lake Oconee Line Side report brought to you by Mark Smith at Reel Time Guide Service. 404-803-0741. wwwreeltimeguideservice.com Lowrance is having an on the water demo on Oconee. It will be at Sugar Creek Marina on May 20 and 21. Come by and let me show you the HDS10 at work.

Line side fishing is good. The stripers at the dam seem to have lock jaw. They are feeding on the shad that are spawning and not eating our bait. The best way to get them is with Capt. Mack’s umbrella rig. These fish are up in the water column, so pull a smaller lighter rig. Most of these fish are holding in 12 feet of water and you need your rig to pass above them. There are also a lot of smaller fish on the humps near the dam and they will eat shad dropped down to them.

LAKE SINCLAIR IS DOWN 1.3 FEET, 76 DEGREES, MOSTLY STAINED.

Bass are feeding on points and docks as the: post spawn pattern set in. Bass well move back toward the deep water patterns just after leaving bedding areas. Be sure to use a Pop R, a Lucky Craft 115 and as always have a buzz bait ready. A light Carolina rigged lizard in 4 to 8 feet of water will catch fish almost all day. Shallow running bream colored crank baits or spinner baits will always attract a hungry bass. The deep crankbaits like the Rapala DT10 and a 300 Bandit would also be a good search bait to locate schools of fish. There will be a top water bite late on most afternoons. Spooks and Sammy’s will draw a big bite in the right areas. The Super Fluke in pearl and baby bass will work and be sure to use a Mustad 3/0 offset worm style hook and some Sufix 832 braid.

JACKSON LAKE IS DOWN 2.1 FEET, STAINED & 63 DEGREES

Bass fishing is excellent. First thing in the morning bass are on sea walls and rip rap all over the lake feeding on the shad that are spawning. Put the front of your boat right on the sea wall and cast parallel to the shore. You will catch a mixed bag of fish consisting of whites, hybrids and largemouth. After the shad have moved to the deeper water as the sun come up move to points and flats with 5 to 7 foot of water and use a zoom finesse worm or a 5 inch lizard in the watermelon seed color fished on a Carolina rig with a 24 inch leader. There are fish being caught off the summer time points and under water islands around the lake. A Carolina rig fished in these areas will get a lot of fish but most will be small. You can catch a few good fish but will have to work your way though the smaller ones. There are lots of good largemouth bass being caught in the mix. A buzz bait, spinner bait, or a ¼ ounce Rat T Trap would be the bait of choice. If there is any wind, work the wind blown banks with a small crank bait, like a ¼ ounce Rat L Trap in the chrome/black or a number 5 Shad Rap in sliver/black colors.
