Fishing Report Deep Jigging 9-10-2011
I had Andrew/ Lourdes and Jimmy occur down from NY for a day of jigging and they picked a great day. This was by far the best jigging day since the spring for whole action. It was not end each and every drift each drop for eight one/2 hours. To be sincere we missing count of the # of fish landed but properly more than 100 fish for 3 anglers. We had a combine bag of dimensions from little fish to 50 inchers. The big fish showed up as usual in the center of the day. Lourdes was the 1st to land a 53 inch fatty. Andew had a 54 nad a 53 inch fish. Lourdes finished the last drift with a 52 inch fish. Jimmy had a lot of top quality 45 lb AJs and a 16 lb Gag. In addition to the AJs we had Almacos, Black fin, Scamp and Gag grouper. It was great to see this numerous fish of all dimensions for the foreseeable future. Andrew was bringing up a small AJ and the drag began screaming off the reel for 100 feet and stopped. He brought up the small AJ which had been swallowed by a even bigger AJ but did not get the hook. I wished we could have seen this 1. The ocean went flat for the experience house and every person crashed in the bean bags following a long day.

Big red fish in hot water grass!
Please meet Dr. Chuck Ingle of Ladys Island, South Carolina. He is holding up a nice spot tail bass, which he caught while fly fishing from his kayak. This fish couldnt pass up Dr. Chucks finger mullet fly pattern, which he was working with his seven weight fly rod. According to this report received Dr. Chuck would whether catch one fish like this than 10 others while using the traditional adjustable cork method. I have to admit I think he might be right in his thoughts about this one. Its a known fact that the lighter the tackle the bigger the bounce! Thanks for reading my reports and also for sending me this great fishing report! Please keep them coming! Thanks Judy

Whatever you do dont forget your cast net!
Even though its still very hot the inshore bite continues to get better and better. Despite the sweat that keeps popping up my brow the time has come to focus on fall fishing techniques. Although migrations from the baits stand point has not taken place things are being plan in the fishs world. No matter what a plan to start bulking up has started. With that being said its time to think outside of the box.
In the old live well all kinds of bait can survive. In this well there are shrimp, finger mullet, and peanut menhaden, which were all caught by throwing the old cast net!
Live Shrimp
It has been said by many including my father that when it comes to those that swim in the under water world all will eat shrimp. So since this is most plentiful bait available to us and those down under this would be the bait of choice. The best news about shrimp as bait at this time of the year is the fact that you can catch your own or purchase some at the local bait shop. You can present shrimp under a cork or just plain naked on a hook. Believe me, if a fish is there it will hit this bait.
Live finger mullet or Peanut menhaden
If you go with the theory that a larger fish didnt get this big being stupid I suggest using larger live baits. Normally a larger trout will prefer a one stop feeding deal, which means if the big bite is available they might just take you up on it! As with anything else when targeting the larger fish only you end up down sizing you bite activity! The up size to the plan is when you do get a hit its normally a large fish! When it comes to finger mullet or peanut menhaden all you need is a cast net and you will be in the catching bait business!
From left to right: spotted sea trout, Captain Alan Collins of Miss Judy Charters, and red fish also known as spot tail bass, and channel bass.
Spotted sea trout and red fishs feeding quirts
As far as these baits when it comes to the old red fish they will gladly eat them too. The biggest difference between the red fish and spotted sea trout is their feeding quirts. The spotted sea trout is mostly a sight feeder and loves to kill first what its going to eat second. So therefore any live baits or something that looks and acts alive is going get the spotted sea trouts attention. The red fish on the only hand will eat it live, fresh dead, and old dead as well as smelly! When going live its best to clip the tail a bit before casting into place. This adds a little scent and it also makes the bait move erratically. The red fish with its keen sense of smell as well as its homing in on distress vibrations normally when in the area will make way to this bait. If you are using fresh dead bait such as finger mullet or peanut menhaden I suggest cutting it up like a loaf of bread. And after you cut it up let it season a bit in the sun. This semi baking of the bait seals in the juices and then when it introduced back into the water wanted smells happen!
Picture taken in September 2010
In the basket we have Spanish mackerel and black sea bass, which were caught on a short artificial reef trip in September 2010. Boy, how things do change!!
Offshore Artificial Reefs Its getting to be bottom fishing time of the year
I keep hoping for a little top water action, but so far all I have gotten is bait fish on the surface. I would seem and it normally does mean where you have bait fish you have large fish. There should be some king or Spanish mackerel lurking about in the out skirts. However, to this date there have not been many king mackerel and only a few Spanish mackerel school being seen feeding on the surface.
Back in 2010 during the month of September while taking short fishing trips to the artificial reefs my plan was to bottom fish a bit and then do some trolling. This offered the customers a little change and they got to see a couple sides to a catching affair. At this time we might do some trolling, but unfortunately no Spanish mackerel catches to report!!
Bottom fishing offshore with artificial baits!
For those of you offshore fishermen that want to do a little bottom fishing now is the time to do a little experimenting With water temperatures cooling a bit the bottom fishing should be very good. The artificial reefs and Savannah Snapper banks should be holding an array of bottom fish, which will gladly hit cut squid or fish for those that just want to go jigging with artificial baits I suggest leaving the squid at home!
Savannah Snapper Banks
Savannah Snapper banks information that you need to know
The bottom fishing still is good with our customers getting the opportunity to catch all kinds of fish. While using small pieces of squid or cut fish we have been catching an assortment of bottom fish. Heres something to watch for especially when catching black sea bass at this time of the year.. Once you bring your catch to the surface, please beware that they have been gouging themselves on the many small baits. So as soon as you grab them they normally throw up all over you as well as any one standing next to you!! Boy it was a messy situation this past week!
Gulf Stream Suggestions
No reports at this time the winds have been howling making sea conditions rough! Hey, there is always next week! But if you get a calm day its a great time of the year to catch all kinds of top water fish!!
A lure set up worth not only looking into but also adding to your spread!
All blue water fishermen including my self have theories about there personal trolling spread. I know when I fished the blue waters a lot I did. I pull baits on the surface, right under the surface, mid water column, and deep with great success. In the charter boat business on most occasions you cant really pull what might work better, because of the crew on the boat. For instance:
If I had a charter with strong individuals willing to reel in and check baits continuously I would pull the stuff that always worked. However, what always worked sometimes was hard to work with. I love pulling planers with big baits and Ilanders rigged with horse ballyhoo let out so far that they were fishing in another world. These lures worked, but they came with a serious work out! If I had a charter that wanted to catch, but wasnt going to be the type to help out I would go more with surface lures such as Aliens, birds, and Outlaws! This type spread worked like a charm too!
The bottom line is this and my father always said it so well! You got to be where the fish are to catch them in the first place! According to my father hooks did catch the fish, but if you were fishing where the fish were not you could bascially forget it!! I called this Daddy Logic!
This is what we fishermen called Birds and bait! The bird lures are made by an assortment of lure manufactures. Since I am from the old school I always liked the Mold Craft Products. I always felt that there lures/birds were crafted to look and act just like something a fish would think was worth a serious chase. After all when it comes to any sort of lure it basically has to look real time alive once it placed in the water and pulled behind the boat.
http://www.moldcraftproducts.com/lures.html
The lure that is being pulled in tow behind the bird was what I called the outlaw! From the head shape you already know this is a lure that doesnt push water. From my point of view when pulled it basically navigates while making way just like a real fish. Heres the thing about this lure you can rigged it up with a ballyhoo or not, because it works both ways. It has a forward and backward shirt attached. So therefore when it pulled throw the water the front half folds half way over the back half making for some real live action. The skirts I made with material that reflects any sort of light bringing on big attentions to those down under.

Freshies Report
I would rather have a Hopkins
This is probably one of the most old times used spoon types. This is called the Hopkins Lure, which has been used to catch fish by many a fisherman. Many years ago I had a fisherman on my boat tell me if he was ever stranded on an island and if he had a choice of fishing lures to have it would be the Hopkins! So now you know its proven by not only fish, but fishermen too!
As far as how to use this lure to its full potential one suggestion is to simply cast it into place, let it sink, wait a few seconds, retrieve a bit, wait, and then retrieve.

Little Miss Judy Believe It or Not!
Please tell Castro that Big Red is on the way!!
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/lemo…mey/1004309741
Please meet my Uncle Reds Helmey!
For those of you that want to read and interesting book, please purchase or borrow a copy of the The Lemon Dance! My Uncle Bobby also known as Reds Helmey is not a legend in his own mind, but in the minds of many including myself! Its an interesting read and I remember when it all happened, because I was right there!
Please tell Castro that Big Red is on the way!!
In the early sixties my Uncle Bobby also known as Reds by many was called to do a duty. It was a mission of grand portions and he definitely was the one that was fit for this assign. After seeing the original Mission Impossible I always thought about my Uncle Bobby and his calling. As a young child I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis during the early sixties. It scared me to death, because television, what little I watched, didnt paint a very good picture. And according to my father Cuba wasnt so far away. I remember when we would go on vacation to Florida that we could actually hear the Cuban Radio station broadcast in our car. So with all this talk about pushing the button sending the missiles right over, I was a tormented child. To top all of this off I remember my father working hard at painting our old asbestos siding house. I had to ask and of course I did, why are you going to so much trouble if we are just going to be blown up? My father answer was simple and it seemed to calm me at least for the moment he said It might not happen! So with those few words I dropped the thought and went on about trying to do what a child does playing in the yard having fun!
In January of 1969 I was a senior at Savannah High School. I would graduate in the spring of 1969.
It was during that time that my Uncle Bobby dropped by on late evening. He along with my father was having a conversation about something. Daddy asked me to fix Uncle Bobby a ham sandwich. When I made it to the kitchen I saw Uncle Bobby with a white bandage around his head. I asked what happened and he replied that he had been hit by a swinging chain at the lumber yard. I said WOW and began fixing Uncle Bobbys ham sandwiches. He ate the sandwiches, shook hands with my father, saluted him, and out the door he went. That was the last time that I saw him for a very long time.
Since I wasnt there and what I am about to tell you is simply what is stored in my memory its only what I know. So here goes with me bringing to light the unbelievable story of grant portions about my Secret agent or not 007 Uncle Bobby!
Once loaded on to the Delta Plane my uncle Bobby asked to make a detour to Cuba! His mission at least from what as I was told was to take out Castro! As soon as the plane landed on the tarmac Uncle Bobby was arrested by the Cuban soldiers.
Once capture he was tortured in many ways some of which my father told be about. There was this one time where Uncle Bobby was dipped in cold water then removed beat and then once again dipped once again back into the cold water. Those that held him prisoner wanted information, but my Uncle Bobby could never be broken. I was always told that Uncle Bobby had studied the Cuban culture and he knew of their religionist belief forwards and backwards. He also knew that during these times it was a religionist foe paw to tamper with much less kill anyone with red hair. And you guessed it; my uncle Bobby had a head full of bright red hair.
Armed with this knowledge and all along hoping for this to work a very red headed Uncle Bobby managed to stay alive through some real mental and as well lots of physical torture. Once it was decided that Uncle Bobby wasnt going to talk, because he didnt have anything to say to the prisons he went. Once arriving at his would be home for a while his acts for staying alive went into play. While waiting for the full moon Uncle Bobby would break off his finger nails and carefully place them in the cuff of his pants. When the full moon was high in the sky he would take the nails throw them up in the air and when they fell to the ground he would arrange them with a purpose. Then he would read them by red headed Bobby tongues acting as if he was communicating with someone from a much higher power. Then he would drop down on all fours and basically howl at the moon. For those viewing this strange happening shared it with all the others. This made Uncle Bobby a person of interest in more ways than one!
As the story was told to me, while Uncle Bobby was being transferred to Russia he basically escaped and made way back to the United States. Once arriving here in Savannah, Georgia he was supposedly arrested and then charged with the high jacking. According to my father the door to the Chatham County jail cell where Uncle Bobby was supposed to be held was never locked. If he wanted a steak for dinner it was delivered promptly.
My uncles lawyer was the ever popular Sonny Seiler. If you dont know this is one attorney that can own a court room especially when he feels the need to do so. In my Uncle Bobbys case Sonny Seilers job became real interesting since he may or may not have been since by the CIA to do this deed. Believe me Attorney Seiler pulled all the twists, turns, and possibilities out putting then out in stage front operations. The jurors hung on every word as they do in most of Seiler high profile cases such as this.
After hearing the complete story it was their job was to decide whether or not he was sane or insane while doing the high jacking. The jury deliberated for about 15 minutes and reached a verdict of Innocent by reason of temporary insanity on all counts! With this deal done my Uncle Bobby remains the only individual ever acquitted of high jacking of a commercial airliner.
Thanks for reading! Captain Judy

LAKE LANIER IS DOWN 7.8 FEET, THE CREEKS ARE SLIGHTLY STAINED AND THE MAIN LAKE IS CLEAR & 81 DEGREES.
This Lake Lanier Bass report is from Jim Mathley, www.jimboonlanier.com 770 542 7764
Bass fishing is good and the lake temperature has continued to drop with the recent Inclement and cooler weather and rain fall. Lower lake temperatures have been around 80 degrees most of this week. There remain several different patterns working to catch spotted bass, which is normal for this time of year. At the mouths of creeks and on the main lake, fish can still be taken on a drop shot worm or minnow imitation. These fish are typically smaller and have started to move up in the water column as well as shallower in relation to the cover. The better fish seem to be shallower and positioned in cuts and on rocky secondary points near the mouth of creeks. A jerk bait or a lip less crank bait are the ticket to catch these fish. When you see schools of fish suspending in 10 to 15 feet of water on your Lowrance, that is the time to throw these baits. We have been working the jerk baits with a twitch, twitch, pause retrieve to include only a brief pause given the water temperature. As the lake temperature continues to fall, increase the length of your pause. For the lip less crankbaits we have been using a fast retrieve, with intermittent pauses of 2 to 3 seconds which allows the bait to fall. Many strikes will come on the fall or at the beginning of your pause. When the fish are not as active and relating closer to the bottom we have found that a jig with a twin tail trailer or a Carolina rigged worm will produce strikes. On certain days we have found a decent top water bite in the creek mouths and on the secondary points like those we mentioned above. Buzz baits and prop baits have drawn strikes consistently in these areas when the fish are active and up shallow. Keep an eye on the lunar charts for peak feeding times. We have found over time that these reports tend to be accurate with the exception of unstable weather or periods of power generation from Buford Dam.
This Lake Lanier Striper report is from Captain Ken West and Captain Mike Maddalena of Big Fish On! Guide Service, 404 561 2564. www.bigfishonguide.com
Striper fishing is fair. The striper bite has picked up some this week but the numbers of fish continues to be less than prior years. The exception seems to be the north end of the lake where I have had some reports of large schools of smaller fish. For larger fish your best bet continues to be main lake and creek channels from Browns Bridge to the dam. The best bite is in the afternoon. There are a few fish on main lake points in 40 to 60 feet of water however, lead core and down rod herring over the trees just off the river and creek channels have worked best this week. The fish have been holding in the trees just off the river and creek channels. When you find them in the trees, down rods with live herring is your best technique. Lead core at 9 to 10 colors will pull a few fish out of the trees and is also a good search tool. Umbrella rigs will also work but be prepared to catch a lot of trees. My Lowrance Structure Scan has been a huge advantage in seeing the fish in the trees. Remember, the deeper fish are much more cooperative than the 40 foot fish.
September 9, 2011
WEST POINT LAKE IS DOWN 8.1 FEET, STAINED & 86 DEGREES BY CHRIS BELL
Bass fishing has continued to be tough. Water levels have continued to drop over the recent week continuing to position fish offshore. Fish can be very difficult to locate off shore with consistency because of these continual drops. Look for little change over the next few weeks until outside temperatures begin to drop. My primary pattern has been working humps and roadbeds off shore. We are using the Lowrance electronics to locate fish and bait and then turning back to fish these areas. If bait is not there continue moving to your next location. You may have to check multiple locations at different times throughout the day. Start by throwing deep diving crankbaits in a shad pattern such as a Strike King Series 6XD in sexy shad. After a few casts then switch to a green pumpkin Zoom ten inch Ole Monster Texas rigged with a ¼ ounce lead and 5/0 worm hook.
Hybrid and striper fishing is tough. Fish are schooling lake wide over the tops of humps and road beds following shad on the surface before the sun crests the trees. The action will be fast so use fast moving shad imitating baits. Use ¼ ounce rattle traps and Pop R’s. Work baits quickly to resemble fleeing shad. Once top water action slows use live bait over the same humps and road beds that produced with top water earlier in the morning. The best locations are on the southern end of the lake.
Crappie fishing has been fair. Crappie have remained consistently off shore on deep brush piles and standing timber down lining live minnows during daylight hours. During the summer heat and boat traffic the best fishing is coming from fishing at night with the use of floating lights. The best areas have been on bridges lake wide. It takes a little time for bait to attract to lights, but once bait appears fish will not be far behind.
September 9, 2011
LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 7.4 FEET, 84 DEGREES AND CLEAR
This Lake Allatoona bass report is from Matt Driver, www.proanglerradio.com.
Bass fishing is great with the cooler weather. There is a good top water bite right now with a mix of spots, largemouth and even a line sides. A Spro hydro pop, Zara spook and a buzz bait are doing great. Fish long creeks early in the morning till about 10am, and that bite may last long if the cloud cover is thick. There is a decent crank bait bite, and it will get real good as we get deeper into fall.

Line side fishing is fair. Plan your trip around either sun up or sun down. If youre planning on a four or five hour trip you are going to spend a lot of time just watching your fish finder. There is a decent top water bite lasting about 30 minutes at sun up and then again at sun down. Find the fish schooling on top from Kelloggs Creek up to Bethany Bridge and use something small to catch them like the Rooster Tail, a Fluke Jr. or a Zara Puppy. After the top water bite shuts down you may be able to catch a few down lining to 24 feet over fish you see on your graph but the fish are very finicky. These fish are nibbling the baits but very few will actually take it. Dissolved oxygen levels are very low in the lake right now. They are not pulling much water through the dam because the lake is already low. Something needs to change before the fish will start biting again like some kind of a cold front or a tropical storm to get the water moving. On into September we can expect the fishing to improve dramatically. Soon the top water bite will keep getting better. September is always a good month for top water fish on Allatoona. The other good bite that should turn on this month is trolling umbrella rigs.

LAKE HARTWELL IS DOWN 7.7 FEET, CLEAR & 81 DEGREES
Bass fishing is good. The larger bass are still hanging out on the main lake and on the points and especially the ones that still have some stumps and brush on them. Small cuts and short stretches of bank between any two points are also producing some good bass. The key to catching the quality bass is to fish the rocky points and the grass lines near deep water. The shad and herring are moving up from the deep during the windy days and the bass are following. Depending on where you put in, take a moment to use you graph and check out areas along the river. The pearl color number 7 Glass Shad Rap is a good bait to fish as the lakes set up for fall action. The Rapala DT10’s and DT14 Rapalas are still pulling in a good number of bass when cranking shallow to deep off the points. Windy days are the best for using the crank baits.

LAKE RUSSELL IS DOWN 2.7 FEET, CLEAR & 82 DEGREES
Bass fishing is fair and the weather will change again and cool down. With the recent rains the lake is rising and the water temperatures will start to fall back. The water is lightly stained in the creeks to clear in the main rivers. Bass are starting to roam shallow lake wide with the most fish being taken on main lake points. Fish these points on both sides with a #5 Shad Rap in the fire tiger color then back it up with use a Carolina rigged Zoom six inch finesse worm in red shad color. This bait is working with great results after the morning crank bait bite turns off. Concentrate on points and the bowl areas on the side of points throwing the worm in very shallow and working it all the way back. The late afternoon is the time to pick up the crank again and stay on point after point until you get the bite. Swim the Zoom Fluke of the Fish Head Spin across the main lake and the secondary points and be sure to let the bait drag as close to the bottom as possible.

CLARK HILL IS DOWN 7.5 FEET, STAINED & 83 DEGREES
Bass fishing is fair but is improving a little each week as cooler temperatures roll through the area. The grass mats and humps are still getting a lot of attention from anglers this past week. A few bass are just now starting to move up on the edges of the flats and out of the deeper water in the creeks and rivers. Suspended fish are showing up all over the graph in about ten to fifteen feet of water. Rapalas DT10 and DT14 will get the baits into this zone and catch good fish. X Raps along the edges of the flats along with Bandit 200 and the Glass Raps will work also. As the bass start to feed on the small blue backs and shad, a white 3/8 ounce spinner bait on the wind blown points will work. Be sure there are some herring close by and you can see them on the Lowrance Down Scan technology. Also use a Rattlin’ Rap up in the rivers around the rocky islands and rocky stretches of bank.

LAKE SEMINOLE IS DOWN ONE FOOT, CLEAR AND 87 DEGREES
Bass fishing is fair but there are still a lot of fish offshore. The best offshore bite is not on the deeper ledges but on the ledges at 8 to 10 feet deep. When there is current the offshore bite can be good both for numbers and quality. When the current is present, ledges that top out from 8 to 12 feet have worked the best. The best fishing times are from about 5:00 pm until dark when the current is rolling. When there is no current the fishing can be tough. Crankbaits like the DT10 and DT14 seem to work best. When there is not current, use a Carolina rig and Texas rig on river ledges in about 12 to 25 feet. Green pumpkin and watermelon seed plastics are tough to beat. If the ledge has standing timber work the timber thoroughly as the fish will suspend in the trees. At this time of year the Lowrance Structure Scan and Down Scan technology relay pay off if you are going to fish structure. If you find the shad, you will find the bass. In the early mornings, shallow grass early in areas with deep water access can produce quality fish as well. If you are going to be throwing a crank bait, you need to be throwing one of our custom painted baits.
September 9, 2011
LAKE GEORGE IS FULL, 84 DEGREES & CLEAR
Bass fishing is fair and the bass are on the ledges. Use the Carolina rigged Zoom Ole Monster worm. Started flipping the end of blow downs on the main river and plan to spend the day out close to the current. The backs of the creeks have a few fish but the majority of the bait schools are out on the main lake. Try a shad colored deep diving crank bait like a Spro Little John DD. If you can get one to bite, this can make the whole school will start biting. Citrus shad is a good color. Later in the week, head to the shallows with the frog and then go to the jig and pig. Swim the jig through and wood or shallow grass. After the fish move out to the ledges, go to the football head jigs around 20 feet of water and then swim the Fish Head Spin with a ½ ounce head to get to the bottom Drag this bait across the bottom with a Sufix Elite monofilament in the 14 pound test and the strikes will be hard and once the fish get on the feed.

LAKE WEISS IS DOWN .50 FEET, LIGHT STAIN & 78 DEGREES BY COLLINS GUIDE SERVICE
Now available for sale 50 of my proven GPS waypoints for off shore structure for Bass and Crappie fishing on Weiss Lake, Alabama. E mail ken@havefunfishing.com
Bass fishing is good and a lot of bass are moving shallow in the coves to the fresh water from the rain, look for any where water drains into the lake. shallow running crank baits and Rat L Traps in shad patterns are working well.
Striper fishing is poor and they are in fair numbers in Little River and the upper Chattooga River. Little Spring creek is also producing some fish. The canal and the powerhouse lake are also producing some Stripers. Live Shad is the key to catching these fish, flat lines and down lines fished 8 to 10 feet deep and trolled slowly are producing some great striper fishing.
Crappie fishing is fair and the crappie are mainly under the docks and out deep 8 to 16 feet, on the channel ledges and suspended in the old river channels, Night fishing with live minnows with lights on the edges of the old Little River channel is producing some fair crappie. Shooting Jiffy Jigs in 1/24 ounce, under docks is still producing some decent crappie fishing. A few crappie are being caught on minnows from under lights at night off docks. Spider rigging with live minnows is starting to produce a lot of smaller fish. Look for the larger crappie to get active over the next few weeks as the water cools.

LAKE OCONEE IS DOWN ONE FOOT, 86 DEGREES AND A LIGHT STAIN UP RIVER
Bass fishing is fair. Dock fishing is where it is at. Work the deeper boat docks with a worm. The darker Zoom u tailed worms are the best bet in June bug, green pumpkin and watermelon have been the best colors. Fish these worms as far under the docks as you can, the darker the better. You can fish them on a shaky head or Texas rigged. The shaky head has been a little better for the bigger fish. The afternoon bite is still better than the morning. If Georgia Power is moving water you can also try a med. Run the crank bait on the rip rap under the bridges as the water is moving. Make sure to stay in contact with the bottom.
Lake Oconee Line Side report brought to you by Mark Smith at Reel Time Guide Service. 404 803 0741. wwwreeltimeguideservice.com
Line side fishing is fair. Some fish are showing up in the Sugar Creek area of the lake. These fish are working the humps when Georgia Power is moving water. Work the humps with a crank bait that will run about 10 feet deep. These fish are on the humps at 10 to 15 ft. Use your Lowrance to locate the fish on the humps and you can cast to the fish or troll over them. The schooling bite has slowed with the cooling temps. Keep an eye out for the schooling to start back up as the water temps stabilize. When the water temps drop into the 70 look for the fish to show up in the river bend area. They will usually stay in this area throughout the fall. Sugar Creek has the Capt. Mac umbrella rigs in stock along with Okuma line counter reels and Okuma striper rods. They also have a complete line of Zoom baits on hand. If you like to see the Lowrance HDS units in action give us a call. You can have an on the water demonstration just call 404 803 0741
Crappie fishing is fair. Some fish are showing up in brush piles from 10 to15 feet. The night bite in the timber is still the best producer. Look for the fish to show up on your Lowrance and drop you live shiners down the depth they are holding at.

LAKE SINCLAIR IS DOWN 1.3 FEET, 84 DEGREES, MOSTLY STAINED.
Bass fishing is good and the water is cooling down some. Use the smaller sizes of any lipless crank bait and make super long casts to the long points down lake. The Rattlin Rap in either the natural shad or the black and chrome are working lake wide but use the larger baits up the rivers. Fish any rip rap early in the morning with both the Rattlin Rap and a small all white buzz bait. Check out the mouths of any and all major creeks working them well with buzz baits and crankbaits alike. Bass are holding in small pockets right at the mouth of these creeks. Any lay down timber is a must for a pig n jig in any dark color. Any dock deserves a cast or two with a jig or Texas rigged Zoom green pumpkin U tail worm.

JACKSON LAKE IS DOWN 3.7 FEET, STAINED & 79 DEGREES
Bass fishing is fair to good and the points down lake heading towards the dam are the best areas this week. The river channel comes real close to these points and there is plenty of structure on the channel ledge. Tube baits like the Rattle Tube by Storm is an excellent with the water a little stained. Fish it also with the Carolina rig and with the Texas Rig. Smoke and pearl are the color of choices here. Add the Rapala DT10 in either the silver or shad color. Hot mustard is good with the lake rising as bass will look for bright colors of lures. On the channel bends and any point close by at or near a major point are good places. Any current will be the helping factor here. Any place you find current the bass are sure to be close by. Have a spinner bait ready all day also.

Oregon Inlet fishing center report 9-7
by Karla
We had four offshore boats go out yesterday. There had been seven White Marlins caught and produced. We also had many Dolphin caught along with a handful of Blackfin Tuna. Our Inshore boats had nice catches of speckled Trout. Fishing was a small slower yesterday than it has been lately. Of training course, when you are dealing with eight to eleven ft. swells the fish are not riding on best of the waves.
I would like to remind every person that we offer Makeup Charters for our Offshore & Nearshore trips and can be signed up for on our website.

OIFC fishing report 9-8
Right now commenced out with an great sunrise and acquired practically nothing but far better. Very first end while the tide was up we specific flounder. As the tide fell we moved on to docks shut to deep drinking water and creek mouthes. Closer to low tide we hit the deep drinking water structures. With 14 reds , 7 blacks and a handful of flounder launched we headed back to the docks at OIFC. We only kept enough for dinner tonight and allow the rest go to battle one more day.

You may have heard the Speckle Trout took a beating this previous winter season and many froze in the backwaters during moments of intense cold. The past few of days although cast netting shrimp for bait I have caught little trout. Even the keeper trout caught we are releasing to help out. They say even with out a lot more cold weather conditions it will get (three) years to get excellent figures back, so help out and apply catch and realease.
