Grumpy’s Tackle fishing report Seaside Park 9-26

Although we heard of some keeper Bass, none of them created the journey to the scale. The one-three lb blues were on the seashores in power yet again. They appear to be prefering mullet yesterday but the tiny metals accounted for a lot of the action. Double your enjoyable by using a teaser on that light rod and obtaining these scrappy fish two at a time!
Regardless of obtaining it absolutely mistaken two days in a row, the climate idiots are still making an attempt to get rain to take place – Mainly cloudy in the morning…then becoming partly sunny. A twenty percent likelihood of showers. Patchy fog in the morning. Humid with highs in the upper 70s. Northeast winds all around 5 mph… becoming southeast close to five mph in the afternoon.
The a single excellent issue about Mike becoming mistaken is the joy it brings everyone else.

No wonder every person about me is miserable (Grump particularly)simply because as my wife states I′m always proper.
I had so considerably enjoyable this weekend watching Grump squirm each and every time a women t shirt went out the door at the blowout price tag of $ 3.99 I′m going to hold the sale heading !!!!!!!!!!!!

Appears like yet another good fishin day!
The rain in yesterdays forecast by no means happened and I assume much more of the same right now. We had buyers that wore themselves out with the tiny blues. A single consumer fishing the regional seashores arrived back again twice for a lot more mullet. We had 3 far more Bass weighed in and I heard of a couple far more that never ever produced it to the scale? Want to have some entertaining? Get off the couch and bring your light rods and skinny steel!
The forecast for yesterday never happened so the weather idiots will check out it once again today – Cloudy with a 50 % opportunity of showers. Humid with highs in the mid 70s. East winds five to ten mph.
Mike does not have to be concerned about what men and women feel of him – they dont do it very often!

Two Days Left To Fluke!!!
The Fluke season ends Sunday so get out and get em although you can. Indeed, they are nevertheless finding them in the surf. Gulp and a bucktail jig is all you need. Ray Seifert weighed in a few of great Bass he caught for the duration of the rain yesterday (lending far more assist to my concept that the fish are not frightened to get damp!). The tiny blues are all over the place so deliver that light rod and some modest metal. Stick a teaser on it and get em two at a time. We proceed to get Bass weighed in every day with extremely light seaside attendance. I ponder what it would be like if a bunch of fishermen showed up?
The evil weatherman even now thinks he can scare the fish with a tiny rain – Cloudy with isolated thunderstorms. Scattered showers. Locations of fog in the morning. Humid with highs in the mid 70s. Southwest winds all around five mph…turning out to be south in the afternoon. Chance of rain 50 percent. Get the raingear – some of the best fishing is on cloudy/rainy days.
Mike definitely is not two faced – If he was, would he be wearing that a single?

Ray Seifert continues his sizzling streak! Talked to Ray yesterday and he advised me there was loads of motion down by the jetty. I typically bust grumpys chops about the saying ″no fisherman equals no fish″ but I now feel it. We had a lot of fish yesterday and hardly anyone was out there. The mullet is nevertheless pouring out of the inlet and the bass had been right in them yesterday.. Tons of tiny blues to go alongside with them……Ray

Robin and Paul Dembkowski Dacula, Georgia
Robin and Paul Dembkowski go inshore with Captain Ray again. This wife and husband fishing team visiting from Dacula, Georgia love to fish. In last weeks fishing report dated September 19, 2011 the duo fished on Monday, September 12, 2011 and had a very good line stretching day. Robin on the first fishing date caught the biggest and I have to say, Not much as changed, because she did the same thing on the second fish day! Bring to light some things really never change!!
Robin Dembkowski and Captain Ray Crawley of Miss Judy Charters are holding up a nice 30 inch trophy red fish. Robin caught, fought, landed, released, and ended up catching the biggest fish for the day! According to the report since by Paul they caught some nice spotted sea trout and flounder while looking for the big boys. All this even though the winds howled like crazy! A Big thanks again goes out to the Robin and Paul for a catching job well! We hope to see you again next year!
Black nose shark
This is a black nose shark, which is normally caught in our water. (Found in Georgia sounds, beach fronts, and in the ocean) The black nose shark falls under the large sharks having a 54 inch fork length to keep. According to what I have read about these sharks they dont get much larger than that. My suggestion is to take a picture and release as soon as possible!

Big Bull Reds
Its that time of the year where you could find yourself among the big boys the bull reds! that is! These fish are big making them strong fighters for sure. They will hit just about anything that you care to throw at them. You could find them from docks to rivers to sounds to beachfronts to rips in the ocean to artificial reefs to the Savannah Snapper banks and further offshore. I guess that about covers it!!
Fun shrimping in now taking place
Throwing the old cast net before the water gets to the edge of the grass is a good thing. Once the water gets into the grass the shrimp and those that follow find their hiding and feeding places. For those that like casting in the deeps holes for shrimp now is the time of this sport. Its best to use a 12 foot net, which is modified with addition of duct tape or other materials to enhance performance. Please always check to make sure what you can use and have correct licenses from Georgia DNR. Go to http://www.gofishgeorgia.com/ or/and pick up a copy of the current 2011 Georgia regulations for sport fishing. Most marinas and tackle stores have them available!
Captain Uncle Bob, Indians, canoes, and Kayaks!!
My good looking Captain Uncle Bob Morrissey and his nephew Robbie Shea, which is holding up a nice mess of spotted sea trout, did a little fishing Indian style. After all according to my Uncle Bob the Indians dug out a tree trunk and called it a canoe. In his case he just by passed up the entire process of time consuming chipping and went straight to the Kayak store!
The duo while using live shrimps (plural for shrimp according to my Captain Uncle Bob!) caught some really nice spotted sea trout while fishing the Skidaway Narrows area. According to my Captain Uncle Bob these Kayaks are fishing machines, because you can stand in them while poling for red fish and they float perfectly in way less than 8 inches of water. However, the most important thing according to my Captain Uncle Bob is that they sit just like his easy chair at the house!

Nice flounder!
Captain Alan Collins talks about his catching flounder methods..
I have a couple of different ways I fish for flounder. When I’m using a cork and I know that there are flounder in the area I keep adjusting my depth until my bait is just off the bottom. Your typical flounder bite goes like this, when the flounder grabs your bait the cork just stops and starts going under slowly. I like to wait until the cork is completely under before I reel up the slack and set the hook. Now if I’m using mud minnows or finger mullet I give them more time because as you know a flounder will grab the fish and turn it so it can swallow it head first. So if fishing with anything but shrimp please remember to give them time to eat. I also use a rig that I call my flounder finder, not the ones you buy at the tackle shop with the little float on it. I have yet to catch a flounder on one of those rigs. I tie on a 18 to 24 inches of fluorocarbon with either a jig head or 1 to 2/0 Kahle hook with a split shot 12 to 14 inches above the hook. I only use this when I have mud minnows or finger mullet. I only use the split shot with the hook not the jig head. I throw the bait to the area that I suspect might hold flounder and let it sit for a minute or so, If nothing happens I will lift the rod tip slowly and pull it towards me 5 to 10 yards. If you get the flounders attention you will feel a thump. When you feel this do your best not to set the hook give the fish time to eat at least 10 to 15 seconds. Then reel up your slack and set the hook. The best way I can describe this style of fishing is like fishing for large mouth bass with a rubber worm, remember your fishing mostly around some type of structure so you may get hung up a few times, but once you get the feel of it you can catch a lot of fish using my technique.
Artificial Reefs Report
With water temperature falling fishing should be moving about more. The reason being is so are the baits that they eat! With that being said, Pick an artificial reef to fish and stick with it until you find the bite!
Savannah Snapper Banks Report
The bottom fishing continues to get better as the water temperature falls a few degrees. Believe me even if it goes back up a bit, its not going to matter, because fall is in the air and the fish are aware!
I have had a few reports that there were a few king mackerel caught while trolling and live lining around the naval towers. Just the fact that I am hearing about king mackerel at all is a good thing. The reason being is that our 2011 mackerel season including both kings and Spanish has not taken place, but there is always hope.
I always used to say, When you start seeing the yellow butterflies, its time to fish for king mackerel. Its true and it has been confirmed that the yellow butterflies and the king mackerel do have something in common, which is that migrate at the same time. Well, the yellow butterflies did migrate, but as of yet the kings have not at least through this area!

Grape-al Worms
Tim Maghan and friends chartered one of my inshore boats to do a little fishing.
Since they arrived early we got some time to talk a little about fishing. Tims has a lake right at his back door and he fishs it a lot. And he has a lot to say about Them large mouth bass that live in the lakes located on the islands!
Now I know grape-al is not a word much less a color. However, in my book grape-al is the darkest blue that you can get without having to call it black. According to Tim a 71/2 inch Culprit rigged Texas (with cone weight and rigged weed less) style is the way to get a basss attention. How do you work the old grape-al worm cast into place, let it fall to the bottom, and work it slow just like a worm!

Little Miss Judys Believe It or Not!
1930s Era How the liquor got where! And the Ample Bosom Era!
Although this picture was taken at low tide and in the mid eighties, you can see where once the tide floods how easily a loaded small wooden row boat would be able to navigate through this area. (In our area we have a 6 to 8 foot tide every 6 hours.) This is actually the spot where the small boats made way so as to get to Greens to unload! My father always told me that timing and tide was always a problem. So heres what those that picked the liquor up in the larger boats did with this so called contraband until tides were right.
When the bigger boat or boats arrived to the coast smaller boats would head out and pick up the liquor. The larger boats would make way as close to shore as they could, way anchor, and wait to unload. Once again as I think about all this I have to wonder about sea conditions and small boats. This area is known for its rough conditions even at the calmest times. Since there was hardly any sort of navigation aids during this time those captains handling the boat were all navigating by the seat of their pants. And of course I am sure if they didnt get job done they would have to deal with something far worst. According to my father there was this code and he called it no excuses! The big guys with the fancy suits and $ 100.00 shoes didnt care how the job got done much less ever considered sea conditions into the delivery factor. They wanted the liquor delivered at any cost and that was the bottom line.
So here how it was explained to me..
The larger boats would pick up the liquor from the ship, which was anchored offshore. These boats would then navigate as far as they could and unload their contents. Now heres where it gets real interesting. I always loved this part of the story. According to my father platforms were built in the creek, which the larger boats off loaded the cases of liquor on to. Every time I ride through any of the small creeks on the back of Wilmington Island I always look for old broken off pilings. It would seem that these pilings were left over from a dock that was build to go ashore. However, these pilings werent placed near any land. They were place in an area where the larger boats could get to no matter what the tide might be. This is where they would off load the liquor on to the platforms and head to parts unknown.
Heres yet another twist .
The captains on the boats were always taking what they called their share. Even though they got paid for doing this job there was always some stealing going on. According to my father there was always a certain amount of taking that was allowed, but if you got caught boy oh boy! Before the boats delivered the liquor to the platforms they would meet others in the sound to do a little horse trading. My father always said, This is when a lot of heads turned so as to not see anything taking place. As you can see from this part of the story told there wasnt any tally sheets of laden. And from what my father told me I am sure if there were they would have been tampered with too! So as I listened then and now after thinking about it I guess this was just the way it was.
This may or may not be the left over remnants of a liquor holding platform. However, this is just what you would see as the leftovers after years and years of deterioration. While navigating the back waterways as a small child I noticed that some platforms were larger than others. My father always said, Each platform was built with the materials that they had on hand at the time. So therefore I guess this is why some platforms were bigger than others! Just to give you an idea of how much tide rises and falls this is a low tide picture. The dark line up in the marsh grass is about how high the water level gets to on flood tide.
After all the secret meetings took place the boats would lay besides the platforms and stack on the cases of liquor. As soon as the tides were right the small wooden row boats would make way to the platforms to pick up the cases of liquor. Now for yet another twist to this tale My father told me that the row boat operators would then push off X number amount of cases of liquor right into the mud. After this, their plan would be to take the loaded cases of liquor to Greens and get unloaded through the secret trap door. As soon as their job was done they would then row back out and pick up their cases of liquor out of the mud. In some cases where the mud was extra soft some of the liquor was never found. As a child I have to tell you ever time I ride by a broken off piling located in the back river I think about stopping and digging to see what I might come up with.
This is a picture of me (Captain Judy) standing over the trap door, which was located inconspicuously in the floor of Greens! The Speak Easy called Greens was located on the back of Wilmington Island. It was built on the bank and its foundation extended out over the water. This room that had the trap door was located at the end of the building. It had it own entrance, which allowed the trucks to be able to back right up to it. This made loading procedures a lot easier and it could be done without a lot of audience. My father told me that when there were bringing a big load of liquor to the back of the Island a big party was always planned.
Small wooden row boats could paddle right up under the building. Once underneath the contents of the vessels were unloaded and then loaded in the line of waiting cars or trucks. While all of this was going on there was a big party going on in the main part of the building.
As a child I visited a friend that I went to elementary school with. She lived with her parents that owned the property that Greens was built on. At this time I cant say whether not her family had anything to do with the 19302 movement. All I know is that in the fifties we played around, under, and inside of Greens. People would come to purchase drinks, tackle, and there were even small cabins that the family rented outside of Greens. All I remember as a child is that there were a lot of wooden boats, parts of sunken wooden boats, and a room off to the end of the place that we loved to play in. After all it had it own door, it was isolated, and it was a great place to play hide and seek! All this time as a child I didnt know about the trap door being located where it was. Little did I know it had been nailed shut so that it couldnt be opened. However, in the eighty when I was notified by a dear friend that Greens was just about to be torn down I ran over and took some pictures. It was at this time that we discovered where the trap door had been nailed shut. (And this is the area that I am kneeling over.)
There were other things that I remember as a child about Greens. It had a screen porch that went all the away across the back of the building. It was a lot of fun to play on and a great place to get away from those big biting mosquitoes. In the main room was a large wooden bar, which had a cash register on top of it. The kind with large buttons and a side handle. Of course even though we were not supposed to mess with it we did and boy was it a lot of fun. Then there was this painting of a lady, which hung over the bar. According to some adults this painting was what made this a place for mens eyes only! The fact of the matter is had someone not mentioned it I would have most likely never noticed it. In the day time it was semi covered and at night it was unveiled for all, at least those that were allowed, to see.
So therefore being a kid and as most kids do when told not to do something we did do it. While no one was watching we pulled away the loose covering to see what was underneath. To all of our amazements it really didnt show much or at least to a kid to whom didnt know much anyways. So we looked at the painting trying to decide what the fuss was all about. Since it had been at least 50 years and I am all grown up I do believe the first though that ran through my head was she is fat! And remembering what I still remember along with keeping up with the times this women in this painting was a little on the heavy side having what I would have called ample bosoms. (If only, I would have known to say that!) As a child I had seen paintings like this, but couldnt know exactly where from. If I had to think about it now I might have seen something like this in a museum. So therefore since I think you have the just of this matter I will call this era The ample bosom times! The reason being is that, thats exactly what I saw and remembered now as an adult!!
Coming up next week .
The planning that took place before, after, and during the time the liquor was loaded into the trucks

LAKE LANIER IS DOWN 8.31 FEET, THE CREEKS ARE SLIGHTLY STAINED AND THE MAIN LAKE IS CLEAR AND 78 DEGREES
This Lake Lanier Bass report is from Jim Mathley, www.jimboonlanier.com 770 542-7764
The lake continues to drop and the fishing continues to get better as the water cools. The upper lake, in both the Chestatee and the Chattahoochee, the turnover process is beginning. The water in these areas has a brackish look to it and bubbles are appearing, both of which are sure signs the turnover is beginning. There remain several different patterns working to catch spotted bass all around the lake, including in the turning water. "Junk Fishing" which is throwing a number of different baits in a number of different types of areas, can actually be a good pattern. The spotted bass are now schooling heavily around creek mouths as well as over the river channels throughout the lake. Topwater baits, swimbaits, flukes, and a Fish Head Spin will catch these schooling fish. We have also been able to draw them up with topwater baits and swimbaits when the fish are active. Focus on points in the mouths of creeks and work your baits over brush or rocky areas. A jerkbait fished on rocky secondary points is also a good pattern and is producing good fish on some days. Experiment with dive depth on these lures until you find the one that works best. There are also some fish around docks and back in cuts close to the main lake, particularly in rocky areas. These fish can be taken on a jig or worm, but the quality is not as good in most cases. There are also spots and largemouth bass both appearing in blown down trees at times as well. Work the cover with a jig or worm for best results. See our web site for Rods, Reels and Lures for Bass DVD on sale.
This Lake Lanier Striper report is from Captain Ken West and Captain Mike Maddalena of Big Fish On! Guide Service, 404 561 2564. www.bigfishonguide.com
Striper fishing is fair. The lake has started to "turn over" and the fish have moved from the deep water pattern to points and humps. Stick to points and humps 30 to 50 feet deep. The stripers are glued to the bottom and will bite but you have to get down to them. The Umbrella rig is a great tool to get deep and cover a lot of water. The only drawback is the getting the rig hung up in the trees and brush. We always start out with two umbrella rigs, one with white 4 inch shad bodies and one with chartreuse shad bodies. One day they only want white trailers and the next day they only want chartreuse trailers even though the place, wind, temperature and cloud cover was the same. Your other option is to use herring on down rods after you have marked the fish with your Lowrance structure scan. It is also time to put out a couple of free lines. Weight one free line with a split shot and let the other swim free. Keep a Red Fin and a bucktail tied on for those surfacing fish. The top water bite should start to pick up over the next week or two. The south end of the lake has been best for and we get reports of smaller fish from the mouth of the Chestatee River to Gainesville Creek The mouth of Young Deer Creek, Bald Ridge Creek and Shoal Creek continue to be good places to start.

WEST POINT LAKE IS DOWN 9.62 FEET, STAINED & 80 DEGREES BY CHRIS BELL
Bass fishing is good. Fish are beginning to concentrate themselves near shallow cover lake wide. A few more cool nights and the lake should really turn on. Continue to cover water with shallow crankbaits until you approach cover such as a lay down or brush pile. The best crank bait has been Bandit 200 series in a shad pattern of any type. The water is really clear right now so matching the hatch is crucial right now. Once you approach cover switch to a shaky head rigged with a Zoom green pumpkin finesse worm. This little worm can truly catch big fish that have been pressured. Over the next few weeks look to see spinnerbaits and topwater come into play with cooler temperatures as these are two patterns that you can begin experimenting with now as the patterns begin to transition into fall.
Hybrid and striper fishing is good. Fish are schooling on humps first thing in the morning. Use ¼ ounce Rat L Traps in chrome black back and popping corks with fly. Once the sun is up down line live shad on these same areas on the schools of fish.
Crappie fishing has been poor. Crappie have not pulled up yet but should make a move over the coming weeks. For now continue to focus on bridge columns with live bait and standing timber.
September 23, 2011
LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 8.3 FEET, 77 DEGREES AND CLEAR
Spotted bass fishing is good and getting better with some top water action. Fishing main lake points using a Sammy has been producing. Follow up with a Rapala Shad Rap # 5 working with a fast erratic retrieve. These fish are also still in the middle of the lake chasing small Thread Fin Shad. Cruise the middle lake area with a Zara Spook Jr. or Pop R top water lure tied on and when you see the fish feeding on top pull up and follow the school. Start casting the lure to the outside of the school and work your way into the middle with a fast erratic retrieve. The best places to find these fish are from Owl Creek down to Clear Creek and from The Pass down to Tanyard Creek. The best time to catch these fish is from mid morning to mid afternoon. These fish are also hitting top water on main lake points.
See our web site for the Rods, Reels and Lures for Bass DVD on sale.
This Lake Allatoona striper and hybrid fishing guides report has been brought to you exclusively by Robert Eidson of First Bite Guide Service, 770 827 6282. www.firstbiteguideservice.com Lake Allatoona, Georgia email: eidson6260@comcast.net
Line side fishing is good. The fish are on the move, but will eat when you find them. Live bait is really starting to work well. The spoon bite is the best bite going right now. The south end of the lake is still the place to be anywhere from clear Creek to the Allatoona Creek arm. Troll these areas with your Mack Farr umbrella rigs. As soon as you find one of these mega schools, drop live bait down to them or use a 1 ounce spoon to the fish. The top water bite is really starting to get good. Look for these fish on top early morning and late afternoon. Most of the top water action we have seen this week has been in eye site of the dam.
September 23, 2011
LAKE HARTWELL IS DOWN 7.9 FEET, CLEAR & 78 DEGREES
Bass fishing is fair and its crank bait and spinner bait days this weekend. There are spotted bass feeding on main lake structure where you can catch a lot of fish cranking down with a deep diving crank baits and all white spinner baits. To slow down, go to the Carolina rig or a shaky head or drop shot on the rocky points with brush piles. Fish the main lake reef markers around the dam or vertical structure like bridge pilings can all be good. Try picking off a few fish with your crank bait. Then slow down and pick apart the structure with your finesse worm rigs once you locate some fish. Watermelon and red bug will work on a light Texas rig on the deeper docks. Keep a small top water bait ready as well as a Fat Albert single tail pearl grub on a 1/8 ounce lead head in cast the fish pop up and will not take the top water lure.
September 23, 2011
LAKE RUSSELL IS DOWN 3.4 FEET, CLEAR & 77 DEGREES
Bass fishing is fair and now is a good time to start using the early fall baits. Start the mornings off with a white buzz bait up the rivers on long run out points. Try to locate the widest and biggest one you can find. Make long casts to the shallow water and work the bait all the way back looking for any bass that might follow it. Be sure to work the points using all angles and this will include throwing to deeper water and working it back to shallow water. On the same point, switch to a four inch Husky jerk bait in either a blue and chrome or green and chrome and work the same areas that you just worked with the buzz bait. By mid day the Carolina rig with a Zoom finesse worm in green pumpkin seems to be working best when thrown to the sides of sharp points near deep water. Down size your weight as much as possible and use no more than 12 pound Sufix Elite line. The late afternoon is the best time for throwing those crankbaits. Start after mid afternoon with the #5 or #7 Shad Rap in either fire tiger or natural. Try both colors fish the points and sides of points lake wide. See our web site for Rods, Reels and Lures for Bass DVD on sale.
September 23, 2011
CLARK HILL IS DOWN 8.4 FEET, STAINED & 77 DEGREES
Bass fishing is fair but the lake is still dropping. If by some chance the water get a little stained due to a sudden rain shower, go to the bleeding Tennessee shad and the natural perch colors. Work the first part of the retrieve just like you would a jerk bait and crank it like you would a Shad Rap on the second half. Also try this, just jerk bait the first half of the retrieve and crank the second half of the retrieve. This will let you know which retrieve the bass are looking for. Work this bait around the major points and especially around the smaller isolated grass mats near the points. Zoom pearl Super Flukes on a Mustad 3/0 worm hook will also work on the schooling fish that may not hit a Sammy or a Pop R. If all else fails, get on any main lake point and sit the boat in 25 feet of water and cast the Carolina rig with a Zoom finesse worm any color of green.

LAKE SEMINOLE IS DOWN ONE FOOT, CLEAR AND 85 DEGREES
Bass fishing is good and it is time for the topwater baits around grass beds for some exciting action. Buzz baits, Spooks and Pop Rs all work well. Be sure to fish any grassy points or indentations. Once the sun rises the fishing is rather slow. Try flipping matted hydrilla with a Zoom Ol’ Monster worm or fishing ledges in the rivers and Spring Creek with a carolina rig. Most of the lake is clear, so your plastics need to be either watermelon seed or green pumpkin or some other clear water color. Crankbaits like the Rapala DT10 and DT14 will work. When there is no current , use a Carolina rig and Texas rig on river ledges in about 1 2 to 25 feet. Green pumpkin and watermelon seed plastics are tough to beat. If the ledge has standing timber, really work the timber thoroughly as the fish will suspend in the trees. At this time of year, use of your electronics to find the fish is of paramount importance if you are going to fish structure. If you find the shad, you will find the bass. In the early mornings, shallow grass early in areas with deep water access can produce quality fish as well.

LAKE GEORGE IS DOWN 2.14 FEET, 79 DEGREES & CLEAR
Bass fishing is slow with the best times being morning and afternoon and whenever the water is moving. The top water shallow bite has been best during the morning and evening and has been lasting all day on overcast days. Fish a Stanford Lures Turbo shad in Bone Crusher around main river grass flats and a Spro Bonzeye frog in natural red back in the pads up the river. The ledge bite has been pretty good lately from the causeway to Cowikee Creek. When the corps is moving water fish a Spro Little John DD in citrus shad on main river ledges that top out about 12 to 14 feet. If the fish seem finicky to the Little John switch up to a silent Stanford Lures Deep Big Cedar in Summer Shad, this cedar bait offers a different action that the pressured fish haven’t seen. If the water is not moving, fish a Carolina rigged Big Bite Baits Kriet Tail worm in Plum Apple around any deep brush or rocks on the ledges. See our web site for Rods, Reels and Lures for Bass DVD on sale.

LAKE WEISS IS DOWN .82 FEET, LIGHT STAIN & 73 DEGREES BY COLLINS GUIDE SERVICE
Now available for sale 50 of my proven GPS waypoints for off shore structure for Bass and Crappie fishing on Weiss Lake, Alabama. E mail ken@havefunfishing.com
Bass fishing is good and a lot of bass have moved shallow in the coves and bays as the water cools and the shad migrate shallow. Shallow running crank baits, spinner baits and Rat L Traps in shad patterns are working well. Look for the bite to really get hot when the water gets below 70 degrees.
Striper fishing is poor and they are in fair numbers in Little River and the upper Chattooga River. Little Spring creek is also producing some fish. The canal and the powerhouse lake are also producing some stripers. Live shad is the key to catching these fish, flat lines and down lines fished 8 to 10 feet deep and trolled slowly are producing some fair striper fishing.
Crappie fishing is good and the crappie are mainly under the docks that have at least 8 feet of water under them, look for larger, older docks that create a lot of shade. Use a 1/24 ounce jiffy jig in colors JJ13 and JJ17. There are some fish out deep on channel ledges and more will be moving to them as the water level and the water temperature drops over the next few weeks.

LAKE OCONEE IS DOWN 3 FEET, 78 DEGREES AND A LIGHT STAIN UP RIVER
Bass fishing is fair. The fish are starting to move to the banks. They are also starting to school in the mouths of the major creeks. The best pattern is still under the docks with a shakey head worm, the Zoom watermelon seed or a green pumpkin worm have been the best colors. The schooling bite looks like it is starting up as the water temp has gone down. We located some large schools on the south end of the lake this past week. You can work these schools with a medium running crank bait. The Rapala DT10 and the Normans Deep Little N in a shad pattern have been the best producers. As the water cools down the Buzz bait bite should start up any day as the fish move to the back of the creeks. See our web site for Rods, Reels and Lures for Bass DVD on sale.
Lake Oconee Line Side report brought to you by Mark Smith at Reel Time Guide Service. 404-803-0741. wwwreeltimeguideservice.com
Line side fishing is fair. As the water cools down start looking for the fish to show up in the river bend area of the lake. Use your Lowrance to locate the schools of bait and look under them for the schools of stripers. When you see the striper under the bait drop a live shad down to them and hang on. This pattern will hold into December when the birds start showing up. Over the past week we located some schools down at the mouth of Richland Creek and the main lake. These were large schools and they were on the move. These fish were in 10 to 20 feet of water. One way to locate these schools is to pull a umbrella rig. You can mark the school with your Lowrance and turn around and go back with your live baits. Sugar Creek has the Capt. Mac umbrella rigs in stock along with Okuma line counter reels and Okuma striper rods. They also have a complete line of Zoom baits on hand. If you like to see the Lowrance HDS units in action call and we can show you how it works. You can have an on the water demonstration. 404-803-0741. See our web site for Rods, Reels and Lures for Bass DVD on sale.
Crappie fishing is fair. Some fish are showing up in brush piles from 5 to 10 ft. Look for the fish to show up on your Lowrance and drop you live shiners down the depth they are holding at. Over the past week I have found the fish holding in the timber at 5 to 15 feet deep. If you have the Lowrance structure scan you can see the fish in the trees. It is a very helpful aid in finding the schools.
September 23, 2011
LAKE SINCLAIR IS DOWN 1.3 FEET, 78 DEGREES, MOSTLY STAINED.
Bass fishing is fair and the fish are beginning feed early morning. Shallow fishing and deep fishing later have both gotten better. More bass are moving to near the back of coves and creeks. Several baits are working some on these shallow fish. But on any given morning, only one or two of them may produce. Some good choices are white ½ ounce buzz bait, weightless Zoom Trick worm, ¼ ounce Rat L Trap in a shad pattern, Pop R, Super Spook Jr., and shallow crank baits. Fish fast and hit any kind of cover. After the sun rises get on the shady banks. Dock fishing with lightweight plastics is also working better in the morning. More fish re also showing up on points, humps and flats. Concentrate on or near the drop offs on the side of these structures. Deep crank baits or Carolina rigs are the ticket. Normally cranking is best during power generation and the worm in slack water. Depths are varying daily from 10 to 18 feet. Try the Poes 300, Norman DD22 and Yo Zuri Crank N Dive in chartreuse and shad patterns. For the Carolina rig, use a ½ ounce weight during slack water and a ¾ or 1 ounce weight in current. Try a 3 foot leader of 12 pound line with a 1/0 or 2/0 Gamakatsu wide gap hook. Use a Zoom Trick worm in green pumpkin, red bug, or June bug. See our web site for Rods, Reels and Lures for Bass DVD on sale.

JACKSON LAKE IS DOWN 4.2 FEET, STAINED & 79 DEGREES
Bass fishing is slow and the fish are only feeding on the major feeding periods all day. Be sure to check out the Fish and Game Forecaster for these peak times on our web site. Fish remain deep on points and humps and use the Carolina rigs a Zoom u tail in green pumpkin and red shad. As the weather cools the fish will start to move up and then go to the top water baits on deeper main lake seawalls like the Pop R, the Sammy or the Zara Spooks. Bait will begin to move toward the creeks at the very end of the month. It will be hard to beat a 1/4 ounce all spinnerbait when that move begins. See our web site for Rods, Reels and Lures for Bass DVD on sale.

OIFC fishing report 9-23
In an earlier report Rube talked about kings moving in. Effectively yesterday Captain Brant and Captain Steele went to the deep water, trolled and introduced residence some great kings and wahoo. They utilised pogies which are thick in the vicinity of shore from the Lockwood Inlet to west of the Shallotte Inlet. Along on the charter were Chris Rogers, Josh Chase, Miles Chase, Scott Gregory and John Richardson.
I received data from a confidential and dependable source that among three and eight kings have been caught at the Youpon Reffas nicely as some becoming th of Hogg Inlet.

Excellent fishing out there nowadays…the morning was a little gradual but by the afternoon the barometric
stress dropped and the fish have been chewing massive time. The Beringer’s pictured below caught numerous
wonderful redfish and a few huge bonnet head sharks until we were chased in by a storm. The motion did not
stop there as I went fly fishing late in the afternoon and caught three monster redfish on the fly!. This
fish pictured over was the largest of the 3 that I caught and it put my ten wt. Sage Xi3 to the check!
