LAKE LANIER IS DOWN 12.57 FEET, THE CREEKS ARE SLIGHTLY STAINED AND THE MAIN LAKE IS CLOUDY & 66 DEGREES.

This Lake Lanier Bass report is from Jim Mathley, www.jimboonlanier.com 770 542 7764

Spotted bass fishing has been very good. Our best baits over the last week have been the crankbait, shaky head worm, and jig. We have been targeting secondary points and main lake points with brush. We have also been fishing docks in certain creeks. Search for the docks in creeks with the clearest water to improve your chances of catching fish. We are using a deep diving crankbait and throwing it very shallow thus making it bang and deflect off of cover which is producing most of the strikes. Also, we are dipping our plastics and jigs in JJ’s Magic clear for the body of my baits and we use chartreuse for the tips of our baits. This makes a difference in the number of bites we get as well as the length of time the fish hold onto the baits once they have bitten it. You will catch more fish with JJ’s Magic on your plastics and jigs. Many very active fish continue to be shallow and can be found in 10 feet of water or less. The backs of some of the upper-end creeks are holding fish as well. Stay on the move to find areas holding bait fish and concentrate on those areas. Keep an eye on your Lowrance electronics as you scout for good fishing areas. Move back further in the creeks and out toward the timber in deeper water and look for the bait balls. Where there is bait, there is or will soon be fish. Once you find a creek, pocket, or main lake area holding bait and fish, you may have success by rotating that area with other areas you find holding bait and fish. Fish move up and down in the water column throughout the day, and in the same context move from deep to shallow. Given that, if you have success at one point in the day in a particular location, you may return again later and enjoy further success in the same area.

See our web site for Rods, Reels and Lures for Bass DVD on sale.

This Lake Lanier Striper report is from Captain Ken West and Captain Mike Maddalena of Big Fish On! Guide Service, 404 561 2564. www.bigfishonguide.com

Striper fishing is good. The main lake surface action has slowed and will continue to decline as the water temperature cools. The bait has also begun to move into the creeks in greater numbers. The early morning bite has been improving on long sloping points and flats. Target the points and flats with a high concentration of bait from the mouths of creeks to half way back. During the first hour or two of daylight stick to a 20 foot bottom with planner boards 35 to 45 feet out both sides of the boat. Run your baits 20 to 30 feet behind your planner boards and free lines 60 to 80 feet behind the boat. Herring and trout are working equally well. The difference between using herring and trout is the spots are aggressively eating the herring. Don’t be surprised if you catch 5 spots to every striper with herring. You may want to pick up a few extra baits when you start out in the morning. When the sun gets up the fish will move deeper. Move with the fish to a 30 to 50 foot bottom and weight your free lines with a couple of split shots. Also, hang a couple of down rods over the side while you are pulling baits. Another approach for later in the morning is to "run and gun" points with down rods. Focus on the deep water side of points over a 30 to 50 foot bottom. Drop a couple of down rods and cover the area. While you are bait fishing always keep a person on the front deck casting a Captain Mack’s bucktail jig with a fluke trailer. Do not spend too much time in any one place. There are fish lake wide in every creek however the south end has been the most productive. Big Creek, Shoal, Flowery Branch and Flat creek are good places to start. On the north end try Ada, Gainesville, Little River and Wahoo creeks. Check with US Army Corps of Engineers web site to find a list of the ramps that are open before going out. Due to the low lake level a significant number of ramps are closed.

WEST POINT LAKE IS DOWN 12.90 FEET, STAINED & 64 DEGREES BY CHRIS BELL

Bass fishing has been good. There has been little change over the last week with the continual night time lows and balmy days. On windy days focus on throwing ½ ounce double willow leaf silver blades with a white skirt on shoals mid lake. The best shoals will have some form of rock on them. Make long casts bringing the spinnerbait back long ways along these shoal markers. If wind is not present slow down with a shaky head or football jig. Both are working with the green pumpkin colors.

Hybrid and striper fishing is good. Trolling is really beginning to pick up as water temperatures have dropped and shad have begun stacking in the mouths of creeks, pockets, and up the main river. The key is finding the bait right now. Once you have located shad begin trolling medium running crankbaits that dive from ten to twelve feet in depth. The best colors producing are in a shad pattern.

Crappie fishing has been good. Fish have finally pulled up into mid depth brush piles in five to ten feet of water. There will be multiple fish in each brush pile so slowing down with live bait down lined below corks is working best. When shad begin to migrate into pockets, look for the trolling bite to heat up.

November 11, 2011

LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 10.11 FEET, 64 DEGREES AND CLEAR

This Lake Allatoona bass fishing report is from Matt Driver, www.proanglerradio.com

Bass fishing has slowed a little this week. Blame the full moon and we do not expect changes until the end of next week. The drop shot bite is the best thing going for numbers and there is a decent flipping bite up the river. The mid day bite and evening bite is the best. The 10 to 12 foot range seems to be best around rocks and boulders the best depths. Keep moving till you find fish. See our web site for the Rods, Reels and Lures for Bass DVD on sale.

This Lake Allatoona striper and hybrid fishing guides report has been brought to you exclusively by Robert Eidson of First Bite Guide Service, 770 827 6282. www.firstbiteguideservice.com Lake Allatoona, Georgia email: eidson6260@comcast.net

Line side fishing is great. The fish are starting to move up on the points, Flats and humps and are very easy to catch when you find them. The live bait bite is hard to beat right now. Flat-lines and planner boards are working well at sun up and then again at sun down. After the sun comes up down lines fished at 20 to 50 feet deep over open water is working well. The north end of the lake is starting to clear and is producing some good fish. The Allatoona Creek arm is also starting to produce. It does not matter what part of the lake you are fishing so long as you target the flats, humps and main lake points.

November 11, 2011

LAKE HARTWELL IS DOWN 9.4 FEET, CLEAR & 65 DEGREES

Bass fishing is fair and the bass will move to tight cover. As the water cools down, get the pig and jig out and fish any wood or stumps especially up the rivers. Work any and all heavy cover like stumps, brush piles and lay downs with a dark brown or black/blue combination jig. Be sure to work all angles and a very slow presentation will be a must if you plan on getting any bites. The spotted bass are also biting the Fish Head Sin with a small Zoom fluke trailer. Work any of the main lake humps and long run out points. Fish any and all points that contain rocks and or wood from all angles and fish slowly. The spots are on the smaller size but every once in a while a nice one will be found. Downsize to a smaller jig head and use the 4 inch Yamamoto skirted grubs in smoke blue or black. A steady and very low retrieve is all that will be needed in locating the spots. Throw the bait as close as you can to the bank and work it all the way back to the boat. Fish as many points as possible and fish only the one with plenty of rocks. The “Bass Fishing Lake Hartwell” guide and GPS bass fishing locations are for sale. Ask for a free samples via e mail.

Lake levels are from www.lakelevels.info/?StateID=GA

CLARKS HILL IS DOWN 10.23 FEET, 66 DEGREES WITH MOSTLY CLEAR

Bass fishing is fair and the fish are chasing bait schools in the early morning hours. This is the time to use the run and gun method of fishing. Stay south and find and fish as many points and about 50 to 75 yards of bank on each side as possible. Spooks, Scroungers with Flukes and regular Flukes are catching fish. The spinnerbaits and 3/8 ounce Rat L Traps are working. Stay off the points as far as possible and make long casts. Bass are following the bait back into deeper water so use a stop and go retrieve later in the day. Long casts and slow presentation is the key. Carolina rigged worms in the lighter greens are working also on the very ends of the points near the deeper water. Light line and weights are working the best. Try even putting a split shot for a weight and let the worm fall real slow to the bottom.

November 11, 2011

LAKE RUSSELL IS DOWN 2.9 FEET, CLEAR & 66 DEGREES

Bas fishing is good and with most winter and fall patterns the bass will suspend on the ledges on or around all major points. Deep diving crankbaits like the new DT10 from Rapala will get down to these fish and get the job done. Also try the suspending #7 Shad Rap and add four or five Storm suspend strips to the front of the bait. Make long casts to get down to these suspending fish. Best bet will be to go about half way up either of the two main rivers and stay off the points and areas around them. Make long casts and crank the bait down fast for the first eight to ten feet then slow the bait down to almost a crawl. Work the area thoroughly then move to another. Early morning to mid day will be the most productive using this pattern. Later on it will be necessary to tie on a blue or black/blue jig combination. Any and all wood structure needs a good application of the jig. See our web site for Rods, Reels and Lures for Bass DVD on sale.

LAKE SEMINOLE IS DOWN ONE FOOT, CLEAR, 65 DEGREES BY MATT BATY

Bass fishing is good. The cooler weather has finally started settling in and the bass are biting a little better. Use the lipless crankbait bite and look for shallow grass flats in about 4 to 5 feet of water and throw a Spro Aruku Shad 75 in Old Glory or chrome and black. Sometimes the fish will be on top of the flat and the trap will catch them, but sometimes the fish will be on the edge of the flat in a little bit deeper water. A great way to catch them is to throw a Stanford Medium Razor Shad in Summer Color. These Stanford baits are making a come back and are awesome cedar crankbaits for the grass on our lake on Seminole. Also try flipping main lake grass lines. When flipping, look for about 7 to 8 feet of water and use 1 ounce weights, 5/0 Gamakatsu Heavy Cover Worm hooks, a Snell Knot, and a 6" Big Bite Baits Kreit Kreature in Watermelon. We like to take a pair of scissors and cut off the middle tentacles on the Kreit Kreature. This gives the bait an awesome look to the fish and they seem to grab the head of it more for better hook ups.

November 11, 2011

LAKE GEORGE IS DOWN 2.90 FEET, 71 DEGREES AND CLEAR

The bite at times will be very subtle and you may not even feel one at all. Any line movement from side to side or added weight will need a quick and prohibitive hook set just in case. These bass will grab hold and slowly move to the deeper water so stay alert at all times. The carolina rigged Storm u-tale worm in the red shad seem to be another good choice for that mid to late afternoon bite. Remember to cover as much water or points as possible in the time that is allowed. Rig the worm with a 3/0 VMC hook and push the point through the worm until it just breaks the other side then back it off a little. This will insure a good hook set on those light bites.

LAKE WEISS IS DOWN 3.22 FEET, 53 DEGREES & CLEAR BY COLLINS GUIDE SERVICE

Now available for sale 50 of my proven GPS waypoints for off shore structure for Bass and Crappie fishing on Weiss Lake, Alabama. E mail ken@havefunfishing.com

Bass fishing is good and the largemouth bass are really biting well and they have moved shallow into the coves and shallow bays. Look for any brush or stumps in 4 feet of water or less. Shallow running crank baits, spinner baits and Rat L Traps in shad patterns are working great. The Spotted Bass are on main lake points and secondary points and humps, road beds and shallow river channel ledges, soft plastics like the Senko worm in green pumpkin with a chartreuse tail is catching a lot of good spots. The upper Coosa River is also producing some great bass, the spots are out on the main river channel chasing shad, shallow to medium running crank baits are working awesome on these aggressive fish.

Striper fishing is fair and they are showing up in the main lake on river channel ledges 8 to 14 feet deep. Live Shad down lined and free lined, trolled slowly on the old Coosa river channel is producing best.

Crappie fishing is good and a lot of larger crappie have shown up on the old river channel ledges in the main lake and Little River and the Chattooga River, spider rigging with minnows 12-14 feet deep is really producing some good fish with a lot of under size fish. Look for the fishing to really get hot over the next few weeks. The crappie have started moving away from the docks, but they are still holding a lot of smaller fish. The upper Coosa River is starting to turn on , the crappie have moved out to the main river channel in the stumps and log jams.

November 11, 2011

LAKE SINCLAIR IS DOWN 1.85 FEET, 68 DEGREES, MOSTLY STAINED.

Bass fishing is good and the fish are following bait schools into the coves and shallow flats all over the lake. Down the lake the water is warmer and a top water bite is still available early in the day. Bass will hit top water baits during early morning, mostly in coves from the mouth to about half way in. Most any shallow cover can hold a fish, but seawalls seem to be best. Pop R’s, Chug Bug’s, Tiny Torpedo’s, or similar baits should produce a fish or two for the angler that concentrates on early morning top water. Docks and boat houses are now the primary places to hunt for bass. Soft plastics and jigs are the most reliable baits, although any of several other choices could produce well on a given day. Lightweight Texas rigs with Zoom Trick or Finesse worms have fooled fish recently. A short leader Carolina rig is another good choice. Use a 6 to 12 inch leader and the lightest weight possible. This rig can be cast underneath docks when the lake is low, but is used primarily along the sides and front of docks. Another good choice is a Spotsticker and a 1/8 ounce jig head with a Zoom Finesse worm. The worm can be threaded onto the hook similar to a Texas rig to make it weedless. The worm can be bent toward the hook shaft and the hook point inserted lower than normal. This will cause the tail of the worm to stand up during retrieve. Some good color choices for any of the worm rigs are green pumpkin, natural blue, June bug, and black. Also try a jig with a Zoom Salty Chunk trailer. See our web site for Rods, Reels and Lures for Bass DVD on sale.

November 11, 2011

LAKE OCONEE IS DOWN 2.41 FEET, 63 DEGREES AND CLEAR.

Bass fishing is good. Clear on the main lake and stained up the rivers. There are two good patterns working on the lake. One is under the docks in the back of the creeks and coves. Work a Zoom U Tail worm in a dark color like watermelon, green pumpkin and melon candy. Work these worms Texas and contact all structure under the docks. The other pattern that is works as well or better is to work a small crank bait down the sea walls and around the same docks. The brighter the sun the better this pattern will work. As always the fishing is better when Georgia Power is moving water. As always this time of year we will start the day with a white buzz bait on the sea walls and around any rip rap.

Lake Oconee Line Side report brought to you by Mark Smith at Reel Time Guide Service. 404-803-0741. wwwreeltimeguideservice.com

Line side fishing is good. The fish are showing up in the usual fall locations. These locations are at River Bend and at the mouth of Richland Creek. The fish are starting to school. Use your Lowrance to locate the schools. When you find the fish drop the live bait to them. Over the past week flat lines have out produced the down lines. Always keep a u-rig ready for a change of pace. This is also the time of year that the spoon bite is very strong. We keep several spoons ready and will fish them with the live bait. Sugar Creek Marina has the Capt. Mac umbrella rigs in stock along with Okuma line counter reels and Okuma striper rods. They also have a complete line of Zoom baits on hand. See the Lowrance HDS units in action. Just give us a call and we can show you how it works. You can have an on the water demo. 404-803-0741

Crappie fishing is fair. The crappie are showing up in the middle of the major creek. Live bait is the best bet for loading the cooler. Use your Lowrance to locate the fish and drop a live shad down. Keep moving until you locate the fish. They are scattered all over the major creeks but when you find them they will feed.

November 11, 2011

JACKSON LAKE IS DOWN .33 FEET, CLEAR & 68 DEGREES

Bass fishing is fair and there are some good fishing biting down the lake near the dam. Shad are active now on the flats and in the coves and this would be a good time to start early in the morning with your topwater baits. Try the shallow coves with a Spittin Image topwater bait. Color will depend on the clarity of the water but this bait is one of my favorites. Work the smaller coves on the south end of the lake and be on the constant lookout for any shad breaking the surface. Expect the water to be anywhere from a light stain to having a good color up rivers. For these conditions use a loud crank bait that has a good wide wobble to it like the DT10 in shad patterns. Fishing Report November 10, 2011 Lahaina Harbor, Maui, Hawaii

Aloha from Lahaina Harbor, Maui, Hawaii. In accordance with the general pattern of the previous many months, mahis are dominating the day to day catch. However, there has been some range. Several diverse varieties of tuna (shibi, aku, and kawakawa) ended up caught more than the prior two weeks. A few onos were also caught. Of training course, several other fish have been encountered but they can’t all stop up on the boat. If there are any inquiries about the fishing, don’t hesitate to make contact with Deli in Start Me Up’s Lahaina Harbor booth. He can be reached at 808-667-7879 between 9 a.m. and five p.m. Hawaii Time or at startmeupfish@gmail.com. The subsequent report includes some of Commence Me Up’s anglers and their catch from the stop of Oct and the commencing of November.

Returning Start off Me Up anglers Stephanie and Terry Coote shared their success with Ray and Terry Zeller as well as Tom and Sue Jenkins, who are also repeat anglers. They caught some mahis and a shibi that weighed in at fifty two lbs. All of the fish had been caught making use of natural bait.

The Rittner group fished the Wahine Tournament of the Lahaina Jackpot. They didn’t discover a billfish in the 1 day tournament, but the ladies did hook this nice 33.seven lb. ono.

Will Smetan, Tim Larson, Roman Anisimoz, and Shirley Holten identified an region that was total of daily life. The anglers came absent with a mahi and three large akus.

In spite of a gradual start off, the Dee group remained affected individual. Their persistence compensated off when this ono came up and demolished the chrome jet jogging in the quick rigger place.

These mahis had been finicky and unwilling to eat. Reggie Marshall and Kathy Francis, however, had time on their facet. Reggie and Kathy outlasted the mahis, which ultimately took the bait.

The inside of pinnacle called key spot is genuinely not so key. The area is a common spot for shorter fishing trips. The Smith group baited secret spot and caught this good kawakawa in addition to lacking a mahi.

Dave Kibby was ready when this mahi pounced on the Ahi P lure running in the brief rigger place. Dave responded speedily to the bite and introduced his fish to the boat without a issue.

The Lundstrom group worked the Lanai lighthouse and hooked a blue marlin. The fish arrived off after a short whilst and the fishermen place the lures back in the drinking water. The subsequent bite arrived while the anglers were off the golf training course at Manele Bay, Lanai. That fish, a mahi, ended up on the boat.

These anglers received up early to chase mahis at the FADs and arrived back again to Lahaina Harbor with a mahi apiece.

These anglers elected to begin fishing a minor later and did an afternoon trip. As they found out, the fish bite at all occasions of the day.

Tina Pickney, Carey Idle, and Christine Cooper arrived from Alaska to go to Maui. They every single caught a high quality mahi and also missed a blue marlin soon after pulling hooks at double line.

Jerry Richkind expended some time out on the h2o with his good friend Bill. This ono merely added to their enjoyment.

The Laudermilk group traded in their bait for a 6 pack of mahis. There ended up certainly sufficient fillets to go all around.

These anglers labored difficult although they ended up out on the water. They braved some tough sea ailments in buy to the discover the fish. At the conclude of their excursion, the anglers ended up proud of their mahis.

Jim Jones’s relaxation was interrupted for a little bit, but he did not spill any of his beer in the approach of catching this mahi. Jim was also entertained by some sharks even though baiting K buoy.

These fishermen were all smiles after catching a mahi. Even although the fish wasn’t the most significant 1 out there, the guys were joyful just to listen to a rod go off and have some clean fish for dinner.

Returning Begin Me Up anglers Gayland and Marlene Pegel have been excited about catching this mahi. Each and every time they come to Hawaii, they take the time to enjoy some fishing.

Jason and Drew McCullar showed the shaka alongside with their stocky bull mahi that they caught on a early morning four hour trip.

The Peschel group went out on an afternoon four hour trip and had almost the identical end result as the McCullars. The difference was that their great mahi was a cow (female) as a substitute of a bull (douleur). It’s good to see some high quality mahis biting near to Lahaina Harbor.

These two mahis little bit in near proximity with regard to time but the lures were considerably significantly apart. The ambigu bite occurred when one particular mahi grabbed the brief corner lure and the other a single took off with the lure operating on the lengthy rigger. Todd and Judy Atkinson took benefit of the opportunity and landed both fish. Evidently, Judy caught the greater mahi.

Joe McDonough, Daryl Lonien, Charles Stewart, and John Poole worked tough for their fish. They concentrated their efforts at a FAD and used an arsenal of lures and all-natural bait to entice the fish.

Kim and Randy Kovar, Andrea and Bob Frost, Jody Ussher, and Fran Zito fished at N buoy on the north shore of Molokai. The anglers had every thing heading in their favor as the fish had been present and cooperative. When the dust settled, a bunch of mahis and a shibi had been on ice.

With a sport plan that had been functioning, there was no require to change up the methods. Wesley Friesen, BJ Frankel, and Steve Robertson headed directly out to N buoy with an assortment of organic bait and synthetic lures. Wesley, BJ, and Steve did precisely what they set out to do and put together a good stringer of fish.

Thank you for using a appear at this Commence Me Up fishing report. Feel totally free to immediate any questions toward Deli at 808-667-7879 or startmeupfish@gmail.com. There have already been a couple of wonderful catches that will be involved in the following report. Until finally then, tight lines.

Aloha,
Jonny

Ocean Isle Fishing Center report 11-9

&quotWork’n on the Trout&quot | Tiberias – 22′ | 11/09/11

The trout fishing stays continual. Fish are showing up in all the usual places. Docks, canals, and deep holes in the creeks are all creating fish. The deeper holes and dock pilings seem to be producing the larger fish. A lot of small fish displaying up in the canals, equally OIB and Holden. Docks along the ICW are making some solid fish in the two to four pound array, with a reliable six.three pounder coming out from 1 dock. Shoulda, coulda, oughta been in the rodeo!

Again, live shrimp is tough to beat, but even tougher to get correct now. Artificials are doing effectively as the bait has thinned out fairly a bit. Gulp shrimp, DOA’s, Bass Assassain Sea Shads, and Do.A.L. gentle plastics in chartreuse combinations have all been doing work properly. Great Luck! See ya on the water!

Marlin Fishing Report San Cristobal, Galapagos Islands. 11-6

Galapagos Marlin Fishing Report
San Cristobal, Galapagos Islands.
The previous handful of days have been overcast and awesome. Winds have been blowing 15 to 20 knots common. Many local boats have noted catching tuna and wahoo around the island Ecuadorian anglers.

November one, 2011- The Patricia captain by Yury Gutierrez Jr. had a wander on group of anglers from Riobamba, Ecuador that had never been fishing prior to. They headed for Floreana to seem for tuna and blue marlin. The day was overcast and water temp was around 73 for the most component. Fishing a tiny bank near the island of Floreana known as the “Dumpster” they caught numerous tunas 30# to 50# that would make for a great meal. Around thirteen:thirty a large explosion on a bridle rigged bonita set the tone for a decent combat . A blue about 500# took to the skies to give Antonio (Ecuadorian first time angler) a operate for his funds. The fish was unveiled after a tiny over an hour.
November 4, 2011- The Massive Fish captained by Fernando Yepez manufactured a run to Rosa Blanca Banking institutions with crew to practice and practice some of our reserve mates. The seas were a little bit choppy and h2o temp was close to 72.4 F. Most of the lender was not extremely productive till they arrived on the well-known “Honey Hole”, a high level on the furthest eastern corner Rosa Blanca. Nearly quickly the crew was received by a swarm of 5 stripeys covering the teasers. The apply drill faired respectable as they had been ready to land two out of four bites. As the day went on they elevated 8 far more striped and launched 2 far more stripeys. A total of 13 raises, eight bites and four releases by armature reserve crew on a practice day is not negative.

Spot: Excellent to quite excellent. Perry’s reports that spot fishing is off and on, but in the very last number of days they have been sizzling in Murrell’s Inlet. Bloodworms fished on the bottom are challenging to beat – particularly on a two-hook rig.
Flounder: Very good. Perry’s reports that flounder fishing is even now strong, and even though numbers are down measurements are up. Flounder are becoming caught on the ledges off the seashores and in the inlets. Cast or troll Carolina rigged live mud minnows on the bottom more than sandy bottoms and about challenging structure. Fishing is often finest for a few of hrs either side of reduced tide.
Black drum and sheepshead: Fair to good. Perry’s studies that small black drum and great sheepshead are feeding nicely at the Murrell’s Inlet Jetties on fiddler crabs and shrimp. Fish fiddler crabs vertically on a Carolina rig shut to the difficult structure.
Trout: Good. Perry’s reviews that off Backyard City weakfish are feeding well on minimize mullet fished in the surf. Spotted seatrout are feeding effectively in the creeks on are living shrimp underneath cork in opposition to the grass or about oysters, but most fish are in the eleven-thirteen inch range.
Surf and Pier report: In addition to the over, bull whiting have been powerful off the Garden Town Pier. They are feeding greatest on clean shrimp fished on the bottom on the lower to middle growing tide.

Charleston

Spottail bass: Good. Haddrell’s Position studies that redfish are feeding very greatly. Reside bait is certain-fire, but this is also the time of calendar year when artificials can be just as successful. Gulp! shrimp and jerkshad, Zman PaddlerZ, DOA Shrimp, Chatterbaits and a lot more will all catch fish. Fish are schooling on the flats at low tide, and there are also lots of redfish hanging about docks and rockpiles.
Trout: Very good. Haddrell’s Point studies that the trout bite has turn into considerably far more consistent, and some great fish in the eighteen-22 inch array are staying caught. Shell rakes in four-six ft of h2o with a great flow are most productive, and DOA shrimp, Zman MinnowZ, suspending Mirrolures and Super Spook Jrs. (for the early topwater bite) will all catch fish. It’s also tough to go improper with reside shrimp.
Sheepshead: Very good. Haddrell’s Point studies that sheepshead fishing is about to explode, and this is the time when are living shrimp beneath a float can be just as great as fiddler crabs. Fish close to hefty structure in 4-twelve feet of water.

Beaufort

Spottail Bass: Excellent to very good. Bay Road Outfitters in Beaufort studies that fish are starting to university up on lower tide when they can be caught on bait and lures. There is abundant bait in the drinking water, but when it leaves the bite will still continue to be really powerful for a time period because fish will be employed to ingesting. There is still excellent tailing activity, but it shouldn’t final also a lot lengthier as fiddler crabs will soon go into hiding.

Mountains Area

Lake Jocassee:

Trout: Slow to fair. Captain Steve Pietrykowski reports that a few trout are moving shallower as water temperatures cool, but the best pattern is still fishing in 65-80 feet. Spoons are a good choice at this time of year, and fire tiger and silver/blue are good colors.
Black Bass: Fair. Captain Pat Bennett reports that as air and water temperatures drop the fishing is improving. Early and late try topwater lures such as Spooks and Jitterbugs around long points. Also target bass related to shoreline cover proximate to deep water, where they can be caught on shakey head worms, Carolina rigs and spinnerbaits. The first drop-off is often strong. Fish can also be caught on soft plastics fish around bluff walls. Many bass continue to be out in deep, open water following roaming schools of baitfish, but many of these bait schools should make their way up the rivers and creeks as the fall progresses. Water levels continue to drop, so be careful putting in and running on the lake.

Lake Keowee: (unchanged from Oct. 27)

Largemouth and Spotted Bass: Fair. Guide Brad Fowler reports that fish are scattered out across the whole lake from shallow to deep. They haven’t grouped up in good fall schools yet, but should soon. Fish can be caught around the banks on topwater lures, drop shotting in 60 feet, or anywhere in between – but nothing is hot. Early and late look for school activity when fish are feeding on balls of threadfin shad. Right now fish can be found on the main channel, just off it, or in the front third of creeks, but as the fall progresses bass will move further into the creeks. Fishing shakey head worms around docks is a reliable technique as fish settle into a pattern.

Lake Hartwell:

Striped and Hybrid Bass: Good. Captain Bill Plumley reports that striper fishing remains strong, and schooling activity is especially good right now. From the 24 Bridges down to the dam a mix of big, medium and small fish can be found feeding on top, and they will take topwater plugs. When fish quit schooling they go deep to 60-80 feet of water where they will eat down lined live herring. In the next 2 or 3 weeks fish should move shallower as water temperatures drop.
Catfish: Good. Captain Bill Plumley reports that channel catfish continue to feed well. Fish are scattered out across the whole lake in 12-20 feet of water, with catches of small to medium sized fish strong. Dip (stink) bait, especially Hoss’ Hog Bait, has been most productive. There have also been some big channel catfish picked up recently in 50-60 foot deep water on cut herring. Black Bass: Fair. Guide Brad Fowler reports that there is still some main lake topwater activity, although as temperatures drop it may be easier to catch main lake fish on a worm or drop shot rig instead of trying to draw them up with a big topwater plug. In the creeks there is a decent shallow bite on small crankbaits, spinnerbaits, frogs and buzzbaits. Fish are also starting to move into the traditional fall schooling pattern where they ball up schools of shad in the big creeks and then feed on top intermittently.

Piedmont Area

Lake Russell:

Catfish: Fair. Guide Wendell Wilson reports that the best bet for catfish is fishing on the bottom around the large bait schools found in major coves. Anchor and put out cut herring offerings on the bottom, and don’t be afraid to chum to draw in the cats. Lately catfish catches have been a bit off.

Lake Thurmond: (unchanged from Oct. 27)

Striped and Hybrid Bass: Good to very good. Captain William Sasser reports that the bigger fish have moved out of the very deep water, and there is now schooling activity across the lake. Poppers, Ice Flies and other lures will catch fish. Besides targeting schooling fish the best pattern is fishing the mid-lake by pulling planer boards and fishing down lines in 15-20 feet. Look in the back of creeks, particularly Soap Creek.
Crappie: Good. Captain William Sasser reports that crappie have moved into the backs of creeks where they can be caught in 15-20 feet of water by anglers pulling jigs or minnows. Mid-lake Buffalo Creek and the South Carolina Little River have been strong.
Black bass: Fair to good. Buckeye Lures in Augusta reports that bass fishing continues to improve on Clarks Hill. Schooling activity has really picked up, and schooling fish can be found across the lake. Most fish have started to make a move towards the backs of the creeks, and buzzbaits and spinnerbaits are working well.
Catfish: Fair. Captain William Sasser reports that big flatheads are being caught on the Parksville and Georgia flats at night, but they are scattered. Anchor live bream on the bottom in 15-20 feet of water to catching roaming, feeding flatheads. Channel catfish are being caught on the bottom in 30-40 feet of water.

Lake Wylie:

Catfish: Good. Captain Rodger Taylor reports the afternoon bait is parked in the backs of creeks, and there is lots of surface feeding activity late in the day where mainly small largemouth bass are shattering the surface feeding on shad. Channel catfish are also present and can be found under the bass; they are feeding well in the creeks and shallow flats less than 25 feet deep. Drifting cut bait is the best technique. Out near the river channel medium sized blue catfish are feeding well. White perch: Good. Captain Rodger Taylor reports that white perch are still biting well but they are not as consistent as before the recent rains. Fishing 17-24 feet deep with small minnows has been the best technique. Largemouth Bass: Good. FLW Professional and Guide Matt Arey reports that fish have moved into the very backs of creeks and pockets following the large schools of threadfin shad. Scattered fish can be caught in most of the backs, but to find concentrations of bass you need to find large schools of bait. The bait the fish are feeding on is mostly less than two inches right now, and matching the hatch with a relatively small lure is important. Small square billed crankbaits and Rattle Trap-type baits are both working well, and a few fish have also been caught on Spooks fished on the top. Look out for schooling activity. Fish should stay in the backs for a few more weeks, but within about a month most fish will likely have moved back to the main channel as water temperatures drop.

Midlands Area

Lake Greenwood:

Catfish: Good. Captain Chris Simpson reports that the drift bite has been strong. Some days fish are stacked in the river channel and making drifts in the channel, parallel to the channel or in and out of the channel is the best bet. On other days fish are scattered out across 18-25 foot deep flats where they can also be targeted drifting. Cut shad and herring have been the best baits. Largemouth Bass: Fair. Sportsman’s Friend reports that there have been good reports of fish schooling across Lake Greenwood. Some schooling fish have been caught on topwater lures, and crankbaits and jigs fished under the schools have worked at times. Fish have also been caught where wind is blowing into dips and creek channels on crankbaits and plastic worms. Crappie: Fair. Sportsman’s Friend reports that not a lot of people are after crappie right now, but they can be caught on minnows or jigs fished around brushpiles in 18-25 feet of water.

Lake Monticello:

Catfish: Good. Captain Chris Simpson reports that big fish continue to feed well on Lake Monticello. The fall drift bite is on, and big fish are being caught drifting on the bottom with a Santee-style rig in 60-90 feet of water. The depth can vary from day to day, and fish have been caught as deep as 115 feet of water. Now is also a good time for free-line drifting higher in the water column, and a range of different sizes can be caught with this technique. Cut shad and white perch have been the best baits.

Lake Wateree: (unchanged from Oct. 27)

Catfish: Good. Captain Rodger Taylor reports that bait is abundant. Large gizzard shad are easily netted in shallow water near docks and aquatic grass along the banks, and huge schools of smaller 2-4 inch shad are present on the flats in 5-10 feet of water. Day to day results vary, but fish can be found drifting cut bait on the shallow flats. If fish don’t cooperate with that technique, try anchoring in deep water near the river channel drop. Fishing long sloping points is a good bet. Fishing may be stronger when there is current, and the bite should only improve as the fall progresses.
Crappie: Fair to good. Will Hinson of the Southern Crappie Tournament Trail reports that the best crappie fishing on Lake Wateree is at the upper end of the lake around Wateree Creek. Fish just off the bottom in 14-18 feet of water tight-lining jigs tipped with minnows or plain minnows. It is typical for fish to make a fall migration towards the riverine end of the lake, but it seems a bit early this year. Some fish have moved into the mouths of major creeks like Taylor Creek, Singleton and Dutchman’s, but they are holding a bit deeper and can only be found in the front ½ of creeks. Depending on how fast the water cools they will move as shallow as 11-12 feet before turning around.
Largemouth Bass: Tough but improving. FLW Professional Dearal Rodgers reports that shad and the fish are moving toward the creeks, but fishing remains a little tough on Lake Wateree. As water temperatures continue to cool and the shad move further into the backs, look in coves around grass, rocks and docks. Double willow blade spinnerbaits and shallow running crankbaits are a good option, and soon Rattletrap-type baits should be strong.

Lake Murray: (unchanged from Oct. 27)

Catfish: Very good. Captain Chris Simpson reports that the fishing is very strong, and catfish can be caught either anchoring or drifting depending upon an angler’s preference. For anchor fishing position the boat in 15-45 feet of water and cast out to cover a variety of depths. For drift fishing cover humps, points, flats and gullies in 20-45 feet of water. Cut herring and gizzard shad are tough to beat.
Shellcracker: Very good. Lake World reports that the shellcracker bite is very strong. Look for fish around points and fish worms on the bottom in 3-8 feet of water.
Striped Bass: Fair. Lake World reports that fish scattered out with the first cold front, and striped bass are scattered from the middle of the lake on up. Trolling live bait behind planer boards and fishing down lines in 30-40 feet of water are good options. Also be sure to look out for schooling activity.
Largemouth Bass: Poor. Captain Doug Lown reports that the lake has recently turned over, and an already tough bass bite has gotten even tougher. In the recent big bass tournament anglers struggled to catch fish over two pounds, and a fish under 5 pounds was big bass for the large tournament. Because of the turnover fish are spread out from 2-20 feet, but they aren’t biting well anywhere. Most fish that are being caught are taking lures fished on the bottom, and shakey head worms fished around points and docks are as good as anything. Some small fish can also be caught on flukes. In a week or two the bite should drastically improve.

Santee Cooper System

Bream: Good. Captain Steve English reports that bream have moved back to brushpiles in 10-20 feet of water where they are feeding well on crickets. In the canal fish are biting well on worms fished 7-10 feet deep around grass. Catfish: Fair to good. Captain Jim Glenn reports that fish appear to be scattered in 15-40 feet of water, and he is finding the best concentrations of fish in 25-35 feet. Quality fish up to the 40 pound range have been frequent, and the average fish size has been about 12 pounds. Cut herring, gizzard shad and menhaden have been the best baits. Largemouth bass: Fair. Captain Jimmie Hair reports that fishing is improving. With water levels very low many anglers will find their preferred spots unfishable, and the best areas to concentrate around are the eel grass. Cypress trees can also be productive at times. Soft plastics are effective around both types of cover, and shallow running square billed crankbaits are also good producers. Bouncing the baits right off trees and stumps can generate strikes. Early, late and on cloudy days frog baits worked around grass can also catch fish. Captain Inky Davis reports that fishing has improved with cooler temperatures. Crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, tail spinners and soft plastics have all been producing. Striped Bass: Captain Jim Glenn reports that schooling activity can be seen almost daily, although it appears that many of these fish are sub-legal being under the 26 inch limit.
