RC Helicopter FISHING! Dave tries hand at “Heli Fishing”

For you skeptics who say the fish was dead, I assure you it wasn’t dead. That said, I still risked my E-Flite Blade 400 for some entertainment for you (I used 3 batteries, hence the cut) as fun and challenging for me. I doubt most others would risk their 0 heli just to hover over the water, let alone dangle a line! This scenario shows it may be possible to use the Helicopter for fishing, however it would be expensive fishing. It is always terribly windy here, so on this calm day, those simple waves in the water was of no concern to a sunfish! It also helps to have lots of fish, like in our Sand Pit Pond where they bite on hooks with no bait! (actually I used fish eggs and the hook 24″ from the bobber. Hey, you never know, if you don’t try! ***Caution from past experience*** If the Tail rotor hits the water even slightly, it will immediately cause a crash. Big fish can drain batteries fast. It takes and hour to charge between flights of only 6 minutes, so this could be a long process to catch a fish. Sunfish are not big fighters. Fly easy and thanks for watching. I hope you found this entertaining. Be sure to subscribe for more unique stuff from Mr.Herbert’s Science Class. and yes, I’m going to try it again, so stay tuned.

Mothership Fishing Charter Finale Part 4 Great Barrier Reef!!

www.reefari.com Unfortunately all great things come to an end, and the time seems to go faster with great fishing. With heaps of Reds, Coral Trout, Nannygai, Redthroat and heaps of other great reef fish, we fished our way back to Penrith Island on the second last day and relaxed and fished around this beautiful island catching a few more coral trout and Redthroat before heading back to Mackay Marina. A shame it came to an end, and everybody’s keen to do it again next year. Make sure your book in early if keen, as a few trips are already filling up. Here’s a few more highlights and summary from this great fishing charter Night time fishing was good with some great red throat emperor sessions. Freeding frenzies involving these tasty reef-dwellers can break out at anytime so it pays to persevere. Sharks were numerous as usual (this is barely-fished water after all), but once they cleared out, some quality fish came aboard the boat, with once again the odd red emperor amongst them. This is a great time to get out the plastics, the Berkley 7″ Gulp Shads being a personal favourite, and the octo-style jigs. One memorable catch was a nice, legal, night-time red emperor on a Shimano Lucanus Jig to Ian Meads. Some big spangled emperor also like to get involved in this nocturnal pandemonium and Norm and Greg’s double header were prime examples of these quality fish. Unfortunately with great fishing, time seems to go even faster, with the trip finishing up at beautiful Penrith Island

Awesome Mothershipping Fishing Charter Part2

www.reefari.com Here’s the 2nd part of our awesome Mothershipping fishing charter to some of the remotest parts of the Great Barrier Reef with very little fishing pressure and the results to go with the effort in getting too these unfished places. Talk about Red emperor fishing, it continues with some great fish coming to the boat, Big Barracuda, Spanish mackerel, tuna and whales. Awesome stuff. Check out some of Ian’s report below of this great mothershipping fishing charter Day 2 saw the excellent fishing continue. The Reds out in the deeper water were chewing their heads off and getting bigger and bigger with a couple of monster reds pushing over 10 kilos. The Trout and Red Throat were quality and still being pulled madly from the shallow reefs around the mother ship. By the close of day 2 the Centurion and Raptor II had met up on Eaton reef further to the south where again the fishing continued into the night. Day 3 saw the team on board Raptor 2 trolling the deep water around another far flung, Denton reef and when we ventured into a school of Yellow Fin Tuna the mayhem that broke loose with multiple hook ups and ratchets screaming had to been seen to be believed. By the time we were done, all on board had wrangled themselves a tuna and 1 lucky punter also came out with a nice sized Spanish Mackerel. The afternoon session on Raptor II was again targeting the Red Emperor and a few Nannygai out in the deeper water while a hot session on Red Throat and Spangled Emperor

Awesome Fishing Charter !! Great Barrier Reef!!

www.reefari.com Check out some awesome fishing on the Great Barrier Reef with Charter Reefari Pty Ltd. Went searching on an overnight charter for new ground, and found some top spots catching some good fish including Maori Sea Bream, Nannygai, Red Emperor, coral trout, couple of huge Rainbow runners and even a Mangrove Jack. One spot we even called Catfish City due to heaps of large seagoing catfish. Even double headers, and don’t they pull hard. More searching than fishing but when we did drift the spots, 4 & 5 way hookups were common on 6 7 kg largemouth Nannygai. Hope you enjoy the videos, and subscribe for all the latest action. Mako also had a top weekend catching the following. Spanish Mackerel are also coming on the chew catching a few last week pushing 10 -15kgs. Also some Nice GT’s up to 23kg, but busted up by a monster pushing 70lb’s, so there are some real horses out, Will keep filming and see what we can catch. Cheers Greg http See some more from Lee Brake’s fishing article, “It was a good start, but the crew elected to persist in hope of finding those elusive red fish. We pushed on through the list of increasingly questionable marks and found little change except for the odd thickening of bottom density. Eventually boredom set in and everyone unanimously voted to have a drift over one of these thickenings. At first nothing happened, but then suddenly Jamie Evans found himself almost torn from the boat as his 24kg Shimano rod came to life with a behemoth bend

February 16 Fishing Report

The middle of February is picking up the slack for a slow start to the month. So many great days being reported; 10 roosters here, 15 sails raised there, bunches of grouper and snapper on one trip, 450 pound blue marlin on another. How about one story of a captain raising 100+ sailfish in one day this week!? Los Suenos boats have been more consistently raising and releasing sails, with many days of raising at least a dozen, releasing 7-9 consistently this past week. The water temperature is warming up and it appears more and more sails are heading our way. This will make for a great end to the month and usher in March, which is usually our best month for sails. As always, the Pacific is also seeing some dorado here and there, along with bunches of 100-200 pound yellowfin, and some jack crevalle. The Caribbean side is continuing with a stellar tarpon season, which traditionally starts in December and runs through May. The snook season should be heating up as we head into March, with some solid action being seen on fat snook near the river mouths.

What a story we had yesterday, as we took two of our clients out on a day of fly fishing. They have fished all over Florida, but have yet to experience the might and power of a billfish. Within 15 minutes of getting to the fishing grounds and getting the lines out, we see a 300+ pound marlin come ripping through the teasers. As he comes toward the boat, we get our fly out right by him, he sees it, makes a lightning fast turn, lights up in a beautiful fluorescent display, and he crushes it only like a blue marlin can. That was at around 9:15 in the morning. At around 5:00 PM, that fish was still going strong. Our client learned that these fish fight long and hard, and will never give up. After many spectacular jumps and who knows how many furious runs he made, we had to let that fish go. Tomorrow we are going after sails, my client is a bit too tired for another 7+ hour fight with a blue marlin. Let it be known that with more experience and practice, these fish can be landed in a shorter time period, but I guess we learned our lesson! Please visit us at DRSportfishingcostarica.com and take your shot at these remarkable fish down in Costa Rica.
