Topic: Voluntary IFQ Outreach document
The South Atlantic Fishermen’s Association (SAFA) has developed a Voluntary IFQ for the South Atlantic snapper grouper fishery that they plan to propose at the December Council meeting during the manifeste comment session on Tuesday evening. The Voluntary IFQ was created completely by South Atlantic snapper grouper fishermen. We have hooked up the outreach paperwork utilized to inform non-SAFA fishermen about the proposal and see if they were interested to this e-mail. We have 36 allow holders at this time who would like to have the option to signal on to a voluntary IFQ. We anticipate much more to sign on as we keep on to achieve out to permit owners. We have hence way only introduced these concepts to fishermen that showed earlier interest in IFQs.
There were 3 design and style ideas proposed to fishermen employing an introductory letter and FAQ sheets. 1 is for a Voluntary IFQ for a handful of mid-shelf species (pages one-five in the connected pdf document) in the Carolinas and Georgia. The second is for golden tilefish (pages 6-10). The third is for a handful of deepwater species in Monroe County (pages eleven-fifteen. The regional facets of the proposed packages basically replicate the places fished and species caught by Board members and other fishermen that developed the Voluntary IFQ. The fishermen would like for fishermen in all states to have a Voluntary IFQ solution. On Tuesday of subsequent week, SAFA Board members will consult the Council to take into account pursuing an amendment for a Voluntary IFQ. Details are offered in the hooked up document and much more will be provided during the presentation.
Thank you for your difficult work and dedication to preserving our fisheries and we search ahead to speaking with you all subsequent week.
