Matter: Voluntary IFQ Outreach docs

The South Atlantic Fishermen’s Affiliation (SAFA) has designed a Voluntary IFQ for the South Atlantic snapper grouper fishery that they strategy to propose at the December Council meeting for the duration of the public remark session on Tuesday evening. The Voluntary IFQ was intended entirely by South Atlantic snapper grouper fishermen. We have attached the outreach paperwork employed to notify non-SAFA fishermen about the proposal and see if they ended up interested to this email. We have 36 allow holders at this time who would like to have the solution to indicator on to a voluntary IFQ. We assume much more to sign on as we carry on to achieve out to allow proprietors. We have thus far only introduced these tips to fishermen that confirmed previous curiosity in IFQs.

There were three layout suggestions proposed to fishermen utilizing an introductory letter and FAQ sheets. One particular is for a Voluntary IFQ for a handful of mid-shelf species (pages 1-5 in the attached pdf document) in the Carolinas and Georgia. The second is for golden tilefish (pages 6-10). The third is for a handful of deepwater species in Monroe County (pages 11-15. The regional aspects of the proposed programs simply reflect the areas fished and species caught by Board members and other fishermen that intended the Voluntary IFQ. The fishermen would like for fishermen in all states to have a Voluntary IFQ solution. On Tuesday of following week, SAFA Board members will consult the Council to contemplate pursuing an amendment for a Voluntary IFQ. Facts are presented in the connected document and much more will be provided in the course of the presentation.
