Mogan Mayhem – wild COBIA in Cape Canaveral

It’s “Mogan Mayhem” as Capt. Blair Wiggins connects with childhood friend, Capt. Scott Lum with Outcast Charters, and takes the 2200 Bay Ranger off Florida’s Space Coast in search of plentiful cobia. Call them ling, call them lemon fish, Mogan Man calls them delicious; putting the right bait in front of them is like calling them to dinner. Blair and Scott find a few different fishing methods that work very well. Capt. Blair tried out the new Trokar hooks by LaserSharp by using a live croaker for bait. The DOA Swimming Mullet also proved worthy of putting a bend in the Wright & McGill rods. The cobia action is nonstop off Cape Canaveral in this episode of Addictive Fishing. A Moster Is Born – Whale Wars Season 4.

From last year’s destruction, a monster is born. Watch “Gojira” in action when Whale Wars returns with an all-new season. The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s ongoing struggle to end Japanese whaling will continue on Season 4 of Whale Wars, premiering Summer 2011. I do not own this video. The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society recently unveiled that a fast new interceptor vessel, the MV Gojira, will be joining them for their 2010/2011 anti-whaling campaign in the Southern Ocean. (The name “Gojira” is Romanized Japanese for “Godzilla.”) The new boat will replace the Ady Gil, which sank after a collision with a Japanese whaling vessel, the Shonan Maru #2, on January 6, 2010. The MV Gojira is a unique, high-tech, stabilized monohull vessel. The boat is 115 feet in length, roughly twice the size of the Ady Gil, and powered by twin diesel engines. Construction on the vessel began in June 1997. It was built to circumnavigate the world in less than 80 days, which it did in the summer of 1998, traveling 22600 nautical miles in 74 days, 20 hours and 58 minutes. It held the Guinness World Record for a powered vessel for roughly 10 years until it was beaten by the Ady Gil in June 2008. After winning the world record in 1998, the MV Gojira was used for charter fishing, film work and the occasional marine rescue operation. During this time, the vessel was known as the Ocean 7 Adventurer. In June 2008, the Ocean 7 Adventurer was moved to the east coast of South Africa to observe the

A King’s Birthplace and Ancient Cave Dwellings, Kona Hawaii

Keauhou Bay County Park/Kamehameha III Birthplace A lovely natural harbor backed by volley ball courts, canoe halau and lawn, the park and pier at Keauhou harbor is a lovely place to spend a few moments in quiet contemplation, eat a picnic lunch, or dive into the invitingly cool waters at the end of a hot day. Along the cliffs fronting the bay is a nature trail planted with native Hawai’ian healing plants with explanatory signs which runs to the birthplace of Kalani Kauikeaouli, who later became King Kamehameha III when his older brother Liholiho (Kamehameha II) died of measles in England. Legend has it that Kalani was still born, but the kahuna attending the royal birth immediately immersed him in the cold waters of a nearby spring, where he was at once revived. There are not many places in America where one can easily walk to the exact birthplace of a King, and this pleasant spot is onesuch, not to be missed. Numerous charter fishing excursions and the Fairwind Snorkel trips to Kealekekua Bay leave from this Bay. To reach Keauhou Bay, follow Kaleiopapa St. from either of its intersections with Ali’i Drive between the 5 and 6 mile markers. Full facilities include showers, restrooms, drinking water, picnic tables, volleyball courts and a boat ramp. Ohi’a Lava Tube Caves/Kona Coast Scenic Overlook This scenic pullout, overlooking the Kona Coastline from Keauhou Bay north past Kailua Bay to Keahole Point, is one of the best places to watch sunset in all of Kona. It’s also a
