These anglers completed the day with a blended bag full of good fish. Kurt Franz and Eric Wright boated a pair of fat onos on a double bite. Kurt was also fortunate sufficient to land a bull mahi. Even though Kurt and Eric caught some wonderful fish, Dave Grey had the fish of the journey with his 122 lb. ahi. Wonderful work guys!

This kawakawa was Ryan Goffs very first tuna. Following that warm-up, Ryan is now all set to take on a 500 lb. marlin. Ryan has the attitude of a correct fisherman.
This angler was fired up about cutting his aku for sashimi. Marlin really like to consume aku as well, so when the aku are about the marlin are not far away.
This mahi struck shut to the boat and grabbed the lure managing in the quick corner place. Jocelyn McElderry was up to the activity of landing the fish and received her mahi onto the boat without any problems.
Occasionally acquiring a fish to the boat needs a lot more than one particular angler. Patrick Jones and Jason Johnston teamed up to land this 113 lb. ahi. Teaming up and taking turns is significantly better than losing the fish. This fantastic catch was the products of excellent cooperation.
As Eugene Torres, Larry Hajek, Rob Commell, and Bob Hughes can confirm, the mahis are nevertheless all around even however the onos are right here in total force. Eugene, Larry, Rob, and Bob caught a nice stringer of fish composed of a few onos and two mahis.
Rhonda Jackson caught a great mahi on her initial at any time sportfishing journey. Rhonda and her husband Jay went on a quick journey this time and want to go on a extended trip up coming time. Going out on a small trip is a wonderful way to experience sportfishing in Hawaii for the very first time.
Invoice and Sara Davis landed two out of 3 mahis on their four hour afternoon journey. Of course, Bill had to hear Sara brag about catching the even bigger fish.
The Jones party labored the slides on the backside of Lanai relentlessly. They missed a handful of fish but did handle to return to Lahaina Harbor with this ono.
Jordan Gould went with the verified method of trolling along latest lines in the deep h2o powering LA buoy. Jordan went two for two on mahis and landed a big bull.
Tim Deboer, Phil Brown, and Tristan Raper had a productive day trolling close to the shoals of Kahoolawe. The anglers blended for 3 mahis, like a good bull, as effectively as an ono.
Steve and Jenn Burroughs have fished with Commence Me Up just before. This time they caught a wonderful shibi that will offer some wonderful sashimi.
This mahi, greater identified as a dorado in other elements of the globe, is about the same measurement as a big bag of Doritos. Sean Donahey didnt mind due to the fact he knew that the fish would nonetheless flavor superb.
Jeremy and Chuck Anderson landed a massive ono on the troll. Jeremy and Chucks ono weighed in at a quite respectable 44 lbs.
Dave and Elaine Holderny, who arrived to Maui all the way from Pittsburgh, acquired up early to chase the fish at offshore FADs. Their ambition was rewarded as they caught five mahis.

Q’s for Capt. Fred Archer
I landed a seven.5kg wahoo a couple of weeks back again on my braid outfit (softer rod, 80lb spectra, Okuma reel), and lost the one the other day on my mono outfit (80lb yellow mono, stiffer rod, large aged star drag reel) so was asking yourself aside from the drag getting too loose if u reckon the stretch in the mono had one thing to do with the fish not getting hooked up excellent, vs the hookup on the braid was nice, corner of the mouth..even though abit lucky as i had a 80lb mono leader…no snips though…
Should i run the mono outfit on a tighter drag, so as to avoid the stretch in the mono effecting the hook up?
I did put a 30m dacron hammer on the mono outfit the other day, so I hope that will get care of the missed-hookup situation. I put the reel on a thirty-50lb rated rod too that was abit softer than the 37kg stiff rod it was on.
Also I set a 80lb mono topshot on the braid outfit…need to i consider it off to get much better hooksets?
I have rigged a few a lot more of my lures on wire now (stainless, multistand) as that’s all i have the following at the moment and will operate on acquiring some singlestrand on it is way here. Have u ever utilised copper wire from electircal cable…and does it function…not positive if copper wire is worth a go or not Considering that u say u’ve discovered it makes no difference, I’ll give it a lot more of a go.
How do you keep your lures and 3 foot of singlestand…do you coil it or lay it flat someplace…you talked about your cockpit in ur e-book…but was not confident how that worked
You stated you give your plugs and divers black bellies to make them far more visible with an airbrush…is a black marker ok or how do you do it w/o an airbrush? A spray can could get sloppy… 🙂 do you make the massive eyes on the lures with the airbrush as well?
When searching for wahoo, Nauru is a 8sq mile island in which the reef primaily drops off into deep drinking water, with only 2 areas exactly where the reef tapers off little by little. Are these two regions a lot more most likely to hold fish in comparison to the drop off locations? How far need to I be trolling off the drop off areas if i am right after wahoo, appropriate on the drop off or how far outdoors it?
Do Wahoo migrate? and are they probably to be around a a specific time of year right here more than one more time?
When u say fish the total moon, do you imply at night time or just the day of the complete moon? I have not tried evening trolling, may be abit risky here.
Is matching dimension or color of what they are eating a lot more essential? At instances they are eating quite small whitish hunting bait two-4cm lengthy which is more challenging to match with a decent hook…any concepts?
Effectively thanks once again for composing about all your encounter in ur book, i relaly loved it and am nonetheless hoping to utilize it all.

Best Knot for for flouro to braid connection – Red Philips Knot – Video
While I had the video digital camera out I desired to share 1 of my favourite knots…
The Red Philips Knot…
It’s utilised to connect braided mainline to fluorocarbon or mono leaders.
http://www.youtube.com/view?v=YSCmLbKkHOk
There has been a lot of discussion the following more than the years about this sort of connection.
I agree that the "Chinese Handcuff" form connection employed for wind-ons is most likely the smoothest and strongest connection – if you use hollow core braid.
But – for a modest, super strong and quickly tying connection for sound braid the Red Philips cannot be beaten…
The uni to unit results in a more substantial knot on the fluor/mono facet of the knot than the Red Philips.
also there is only one particular strand of fluoro or mono underneath the braid’s uni knot as compared with the Red Philips which has two…
Not employing the fluoro or mono uni knot saves time in addition its tough to tie uni knots in 70# and up mono or fluoro line – the above hand knot is speedy and straightforward…
Obtaining both strands of the fluoro or mono beneath the braid side of the knot implies the braid has to reduce thru equally strand of fluoro/mono on either aspect of the overhand knot for it to fall short…
Thanks
Chris-Chris
