July … Excellent climate, drinking water temperature to 25.5 degrees and an totally massive run of feisty Blue Marlin that was the finest bite on report, but a lot more on that later. ‘Lady Colombo’ – 80ft Hatteras arrived early in the month by way of Tahiti to fish Vava’u waters. Billfish Action ……… What a blast …..How does just one day’s fishing ….with five boats finding 44 recorded hook ups sound? … effectively the total month saw an regular 8 -ten bites for each boat per day and our abroad traveling to boats could not think the motion. Changing drags, hook measurement, boat speed and terminal tackle did nothing to aid but what an knowledge to be fishing these a very hot bite. In just fifteen days on the water ‘Reel Addiction’ tagged 47 Blue Marlin. The Blues on the total had been little fish in the 80kg array but they all went berserk and it was hard to keep the hook in. Wahoo Motion ………… Still slow with fish in the 12kg-15kg array and only 1 fish described above 30kg. The Lender and middle ground were the most productive locations.
Mahimahi Motion …….. A bit hit and pass up but a number of great fish described in the 20kg array. Late July marked an development in abundance and dimension so it appears very good for August fishing.
Reef Fishing Action ………. A handful of Doggies and some affordable GT motion was reported. With such fantastic temperatures a great deal of the reef systems and off shore scorching spots could be fished.
New FAD to be deployed …. a substitute deep drinking water FAD ought to be in the drinking water to coincide with the 20th TIBT, commencing mid September.
