Bluewater report Saturday 11/26/11

Strike the inlet dark and early, with 68 miles to operate. We where greeted to slick relaxed seas and lovely weather conditions! When we acquired there, we wherever all peeling off layers. The troll was sluggish, so decided to make one particular rapid drop on the awesome looking bottom. Initial drop, I hooked up with this guy!

I was pumped up, due to the fact you can’t defeat catching tuna on a jig! Continued to Jig the region with far more results, but blue was the only coloration they in which hitting, and I had the only blue jig on the boat. -)

Also jigged up some of the greatest sharks I’ve noticed in a prolonged time, and the normal Aj’s.

Hit them very good for awhile, and following we had 4 in the box we put out the wahoo spread once more due to the fact a boat hooked up with a double wahoo header just 200 yards from us. Inside of five minutes of acquiring the unfold out we had a wonderful strike, the fish ought to have peeled twenty yards of line off, than disappeared. We reeled in a bent hook…Continued to troll with no motion following this.

So we went back to the jigging. Ran into much more trash fish and falsies. So with only a little bite of time left we stored the falsies and went to go do what we do greatest!

Ran about 10 miles in to some deep-h2o grouper holes. We identified them -)

three nice wahoo than confirmed up beneath the boat, so we messed with them for a sound ten minutes. They wherever established not to consume, and it was in a few minutes of that, that a tiger shark longer than the width of the boat showed up. He was remarkable to watch, and probably somewhere about five hundred pounds, and 12 ft long.

We also caught a bunch of set off, grunts, pinkies, and big b-liners we had to release :-/

Made the decision to pack up and hit the throttles property. Slick seas produced it easy to run in at fifty five mph, with a lot more throttle left to give. I experience asleep in the beanbag, and I am rather certain it was sore arms for everybody on the boat! All in all, an wonderful day with constant action for everyone on the boat. Tons of exciting, and that’s what it’s all about! &#9786

mmmmmm tuna! -)

Fishing Report November 25, 2011 Lahaina Harbor, Maui, Hawaii

Aloha from Lahaina Harbor, Maui, Hawaii. Most of the main video game fish species identified in Hawaiian waters have been caught in the past couple of months. An assortment of various bottom fish was caught as well. If anyone desires a lot more details on how the bite has been, come to feel free to get in touch with Deli in Start off Me Up’s Lahaina Harbor booth at 808-667-7879 in between 9 a.m. and five p.m. Hawaii Time. An choice is to electronic mail startmeupfish@gmail.com. The subsequent report includes some of Start Me Up’s anglers and their catch from the middle of November.

Mike Helland caught a few of great akus that place up a very good combat on light deal with. In the meantime, Sara Funk landed a bull mahi. Each Sara and Mike relished the action.

The Wong family won their fishing journey as component of local radio contest. They used a range of various tactics and bottom fishing happened to be the most productive. The Wongs pulled up a variety of good-consuming fish off the bottom, including uku, papio, nabeta, and ta’ape. Absolutely everyone concerned had a fantastic time on the drinking water.

The Holt group was hoping to catch some fish that they could try to eat for supper. They have been not dissatisfied by this good cow mahi, which was large sufficient to offer a excellent battle and loads of fillets.

The Spencer group caught their ono on a black and pink funnel jet running in the short corner placement. Equivalent to other big pelagic species, onos are quite intense they’re not at all intimidated by the boat and will regularly assault the most significant lures closest to the propellers.

Ed Boll and Tom Hemmerton picked up their great cow mahis whilst trolling alongside a latest line. They also missed a blue marlin in the identical region.

Retta Byron caught a huge cow mahi that tipped the scales at 31 lbs. Retta arrived across her mahi in thirty fathoms of drinking water off Puamana, which is practically a stone’s toss from Lahaina Harbor. The fish pounced on the small corner tomahawk in what was described as an “epic bite”.

Amanda and Peter Cozzolino ended up joined by Rob Gazzetta in catching three quality mahis. One of the mahis bit a lure whilst the other two had been caught on stay opelu.

Jeremiah Bouch and Lacey Scott obtained in on the trend of catching good quality mahis. Jeremiah caught his nice bull on live bait whilst Lacey caught her cow mahi on a lure.

These anglers fished difficult in pursuit of mahis but were only able to get 1. That’s the way fishing goes sometimes, but at minimum they caught enough fish to have a scrumptious dinner partly composed of refreshing mahi.

Jeff and Yvonne Kenny had to contend with some wind so they made a decision to fish the inside of ledges and pinnacles. Their plan labored out as they caught a couple of onos.

The choice of bottom fishing is turning into much more common, specially amongst younger anglers. The motion on the bottom is normally pretty regular and edible fish can still be caught. These youthful anglers introduced a selection of bottom fish and held a couple of nabeta, which are extremely excellent to eat.

Andrea Nelson, Amanda Hostetter, Joe Ohradzanski, and Steve Choi finished the day with a mahi apiece. Each angler seasoned the energy of their mahi although fishing at a FAD.

The Hinkel group took advantage of the comparatively late sunrise to catch some opelu at the commencing of their journey. Their bait catching efforts paid out off afterwards as they caught these two mahis on the stay opelus.

The Kranz group fished difficult and returned to Lahaina Harbor with a pair of mahis and a shibi. They had a number of other bites but those fish spit the hooks. Fortunately, the sting of a missed possibility is lessened when there are already fish on the boat.

The barracuda, or kaku, is not specific and for that reason isn’t caught on most trips, but Lyle and Betty MacLean somehow managed to get quite a few kaku bites. In general, barracudas are not regarded as to be excellent-eating. The captain’s family, even so, likes to eat kaku so this one was stored for the table.

David Kim was baiting the within pinnacle known as key spot when this mahi grabbed a bridled opelu. The strike was truly element of double bite but the second fish thwarted the fishermen by staying away from the hook.

Mark Weiss and Glenn DeMar fished the waters north of Lahaina. They commenced with live bait at a FAD and hooked a nice tuna and a mahi. Unfortunately, the tuna spit the hook following about fifteen minutes and the mahi shook itself free right after a couple of minutes on the line. Mark and Glenn settled for a couple of akus and a pair of shibis for sashimi. The anglers hooked their consolation fish, a 33 lb. ono, whilst trolling in 30 fathoms of h2o off Kapalua.

Alec and Brady Penning caught a kawakawa and a mahi. Both fish strike a little lure that was running far powering the boat.

The Halpin household went bottom fishing and caught an array of fish. A single of the fish, a moano, was employed for reside bait. Sean Halpin’s trumpet fish couldn’t resist the helpless moano and ended up on the back again deck ahead of becoming unveiled to combat another day.

A funnel jet on the long corner was crushed and then taken for a journey. The reel screamed as line peeled off the spool. Wayne Blake responded speedily to the ferocious bite and fought his good bull mahi all the way to the boat.

This younger angler invested a tiny bit of time in bottom fishing and caught this nabeta in addition to the other fish that he unveiled.

Kimball and Gerad Cottam were delighted with their cow mahi. A bull mahi to complete the pair would have been nice, but that fish was basically not in the cards.

Don Karbonic’s mahi came charging in on the long corner lure. The fish missed the synthetic lure and a organic bait was quickly pitched into the drinking water. The mahi reappeared to consider the lifeless opelu and Don built positive that the fish wound up on ice.

Many thanks for checking out this Start Me Up fishing report. Any questions can be directed toward Deli at 808-667-7879 or startmeupfish@gmail.com. Right up until the following report, tight lines.

Aloha,
Jonny

Jody and Susy return to Guatemala and have a great fishing day!

Jody and Susy return to Guatemala and have a great fishing day!

Susy and I received a well deserved day of catching (not fishing) in our very first trip because returning from the States. We are now the following for the rest of the period with our return tickets booked for next April.

Fishing aboard Furioso, we ran to a common and normally productive location. We identified the biggest group of spinner dolphins I have ever noticed and we hoped yellow fin tuna were swimming beneath. But following an hour and a 50 percent all we had to demonstrate ended up two great dorados, one particular pushing twenty five lbs. In spite of all the spinners and probable tuna, we determined to pick up and head more offshore. We ran for nearly an hour with out viewing far more spinners but the drinking water looked blue and we decided to set our lines in the water and troll. Three teasers and two baits went into the spread and in minutes sails had been hitting the teasers. Susy pitched baits, hooked and launched two extremely large sails! We sighted two marlin playing with the teasers but couldn’t get them to take in a pitched bait. Right after some time had gone by, one of the trolled ballyhoo got wacked. I dropped the line back again, pondering it was probably a sail and to my wonderful shock ended up hooking a 300 lb blue marlin on 30 lb exam! Fish on! The blue exploded from the drinking water in a sequence of jumps and took the boat entirely about. Following a one ½ hr fight of jumps and deep dives I finally was ready to release the blue. The two of us have been exhausted. In that time the boat had moved 3 miles and we discovered an additional large university of spinner dolphins. It was now 2:forty five pm and we had been 47 miles offshore. We put out two daisy chain teasers, three cedar plugs and that was all we needed to catch 16 yellowfins ranging from 20 to forty lbs. We picked up at 3:28pm, two minutes forward of routine and headed property with 2 good dorado and the sixteen yellowfins packed on ice.

What a wonderful welcome house journey. The area we fished was loaded with bait and in the days given that has been creating many pictures of sailfish and marlin.

Appears like another excellent season in Guatemala! Arrive go to us!

Capt Jody Elswick.
