Mountains Location
Lake Jocassee:
Trout: Fair. Captain Steve Pietrykowski advises that sixty-79 ft is the best depth and trolling stay shiners has been most productive on the principal component of the lake. Early in the morning the bite in close proximity to the intake towers is still sturdy. Night time fishing is marginally hit or pass up but still normally excellent.
Largemouth Bass: Fair. Fishing blowdown in close proximity to deep h2o. At some point for the duration of the day decent sized fish will relate to them. The bait fish are in the blowdowns and occasionally in large amounts. Use weightless senko’s and shakey heads.
Lake Keowee:
Largemouth and Spotted Bass: Slow to honest. Tutorial Brad Fowler reports that early in the day there is occasional topwater activity, but total fishing has slowed in the canine days of summer season. Right after the sun gets up anglers need to drop again and fish drop shot rigs, Carolina rigs and shakey head worms above deep framework these kinds of as points and humps. Numerous anglers are heading up the lake to the cooler, working h2o under the Lake Jocassee dam. At night time some fish transfer shallower wherever they can be caught on worms close to brush and lighted docks.
Lake Hartwell:
Black Bass: Fair. Tutorial Brad Fowler reports that Lake Hartwell bass fishing is starting to get harder. Whilst the topwater bite off deeper, major lake factors continues to be quite excellent, common dimensions are way down. Fish will hit Spooks, flukes, swimbaits and assorted topwater lures all day long, especially on windy days when there is floor disturbance. Small fish can also be caught fishing a drop shot rig or Carolina rig off points 25-thirty ft deep. The larger fish appear to have moved really deep into forty-fifty foot deep timber, wherever they are blended in with striper and blueback herring universities. You can catch a huge fish dragging a ten-12 inch worm by means of the deep timber, but its like searching for a needle in a haystack with so significantly offered cover. Lastly, there is a respectable night time bite when some very good fish transfer shallower. Try working a buzzbait close to the banking institutions.
Piedmont Region
Lake Russell:
Striped bass: Strengthening. The greatest fishing looks to be all around the leading of the lake, but is nonetheless hit or skip. Try down lined live herring to them and a trolling motor to keep on top rated of the fish.
Lake Thurmond:
Striped and Hybrid Bass: Very great. Captain William Sasser even now studies the very best catches are early early morning and in the evening right after sundown. Try out a downline herring from 40 feet close to troughs and coves.
White perch: Very good. The perch fishing is remarkable especially at the best of lake. Fish 20 ft off the bottom with minnows.
Lake Wylie:
Catfish: Extremely very good. Captain Rodger Taylor studies that channel catfish continue to bite really effectively in spite of intensive warmth and large h2o temperatures. Early in the morning fish are feeding in the upper creek locations. As the sun rises target flats in 15-20 feet of h2o close to the principal channel. Reduce bream, minimize white perch and shad are all productive. Flatheads can be caught night time fishing with live bait close to cover and construction.
Midlands Region
Lake Greenwood: (unchanged from July 14)
Largemouth Bass: Sluggish. Sportsmans Buddy studies that the very best fishing is early in the early morning, specially all around block partitions, but its actually also very hot! The baitfish like the cooler drinking water from the blocks and settle in overnight. Functioning plastic worms in 15 to 18 feet of water around brush piles is also productive and employing crankbaits deep over or about brush piles ought to also perform. Fish will also be caught off points and around humps and ledges on Carolina rigs. Late afternoon is sporadic at best with the high temperatures, but occasional late thunderstorms can cool issues off enough to make fishing productive.
Crappie: Reasonable. Guide Rod Wall studies that the greatest fishing is all around bridge pilings, brush and other manmade structure and cover in 20-thirty ft of drinking water specially at night and early early morning. Minnows are fishing a little more powerful than jigs appropriate now close to twenty ft.
Lake Wateree:
White Perch: Very good. Captain Rodger Taylor reports perch fishing is performing really properly all around the lake. Worms, minnows, little spoons and much more will catch fish, which can be taken on the floor, on the bottom or in in between. Catching fish on a Sabiki rig is quite achievable.
Lake Murray:
Bass: Bad. Fish from five-30 ft deep, but a few still continue being shallow. Nonetheless, they are quite scattered and hard to goal. The most powerful pattern proper now is fishing deep brush in 22-30 feet of drinking water and specifically brush that is way offshore and found fairly close to the main river channel.
Striper: Reasonable. Fishing is excellent in the reduce lake close to Turner’s Level, in the "extreme" Ballentine region and by the dam. Anchoring or drifting in 40-70 ft of water above open water humps with live bait need to catch fish.
Santee Cooper Technique
Crappie: Honest. Fish can be caught in 6-thirty feet, but are especially bunched up in 12-18 ft. You would think that with the warmth they would go deeper, but there is very small oxygen right now at higher depths. The bite stays very good more than brush.

Turned out to be a gorgeous early morning just a little steamy out there. The drinking water clarity is nonetheless pretty
muddy from all the wind we have been finding late in the afternoons but we had a couple of excellent pictures on
the fly this morning and also caught a few wonderful sharks as well. Pictured previously mentioned my client Mark Kirsten
from California with his very first redfish caught on the fly!
