This fine yacht is ideal for discrete groups of six or less, fishing the offshore waters of San Diego. Trips vary from half day local kelp fishing trips, targeting such species as Bonita, Barracuda, Calico Bass, Sand Bass, White Sea bass, Yellowtail and Halibut, to fishing one or one and a half days at the Coronado Islands. The Coronado trips offer a more exotic locale with a more bountiful and varied catch. Summer fishing is primarily offshore, ranging from 45-80 miles, predominantly into Mexican waters. Targeted species would include Albacore Tuna and Bluefin Tuna in the early summer; Yellowfin Tuna, Big Eye Tuna and occasionally Dorado in the late summer. Large Yellowtail are also targeted on offshore kelp paddies. Late summer and fall will bring Striped Marlin into the local San Diego waters. “Monkey-faced eel fishing” in Northern California.
Here’s a video of my friend and me fishing for some Monkey-face eels,,,,,This was my “first time” fishing for eels and I had a “blast”,,,,,I will definitely do it again!!! For a poke pole all that we did was tie a small peace of fishing line with a small hook to the top eye of an old fishing rod and sure enough that was good enough,,,,,eel fishing is so much fun and you really don’t need nothing special,,,,Just an old rod and some line and a small hook,,,,,Well that’s all that we did and we caught plenty! At the end of this fishing trip we ended up only keeping “one” decent sized Monkey-face eel that weighted 4.5 lbs,,,,,,,,Every other eel and fish that we caught that day were released unharmed. This was just another “fun” day of fishing!!!! “Peace”…

This was to be our base for the next 5 days, travelling to remote Trogibee and Eaton, Denton reefs up to 200 kilometres offshore from Mackay, and into some serious fishing heaven. With Raptor II, our game fishing tender in tow of course, for the first night had us awaking on the reef, ready to get into some serious fishing action. And the reef fishing didn’t disappoint, with the dories catching the usual quality red Throat emperor and Coral trout, we were off into the deep water chasing the big Red emperor this area is famous for. With our quality Furuno FCV 585 sounder and 1 Kw transducer we were in the ultimate playground, and of course full fuel tanks. We used our resources and experience in fishing these deep marks, and had some of the best Red fishing ever.
