I took Doug and his buddies out on saturday for some wahoo tuna motion. We cleared the pass and 6 miles out in 200 ft of drinking water we came on a bunch of tuna balling up pogies in open up water. Mainly jumbo blacks but I am sure there had been yellowfins someplace all around. There were tuna busting all about us. We set a few blackfins in the boat and then ongoing out to the wahoo spot ahead of all the boats confirmed up. Way too late boats were eveywhere and so had been wahoo I noticed at the very least a dozen wahoo skyrocket close to one rig and there were loads much more underneath the h2o way too catch. With all the visitors close to it made things a little much more difficult to get a bite but we ended up putting seven wahoo in the box on a mix of bombers and xraps Immediately after that we attempted and tried to get an amberjack and some scamps but that just wasnt really going to come about. All my great aj spots keep on to be loaded up with jack crevelles. We did pull a few scamps out but that was it.
The surprise of the day was caught on a jig for certain and it was a first for me. I was attempting to jig up wahoo and 1 of the guys received a strong hookup and you could tell it was kinda weighty but it didnt run like a wahoo or blackfin. It arrived up on the facet and I saw a sharkfin and was dissapointed. Then it received a tiny nearer and it was a little mako that had eaten the jig. I received one good photograph of it at the facet of the boat ahead of it chewed through the aid hook. It was only about twenty-thirty pounds I would guess.
