Montauk Sportfishing Report 5/9/11

Excellent weekend, with a honest sum of boats fishing, at least on Saturday. Not so a lot of on
Mommy’s day.

The fluke fishing is quite excellent, fluke trying to keep, possibly not so excellent. Based on who
you talk to the throwback to keeper ratio is 10, twenty or thirty to 1. The most truthful report
arrived from early in the week from one captain who advised me they caught around sixty
fluke with 9 “legal keepers”. You can read what you want into that. Every person keeps
saying that the draggers are catching a great deal of massive fish, and there have been a couple of fish
over 10 kilos caught currently, so it ought to be finding much better actual soon.

There are plenty of bluefish around as well, getting caught by flukers as properly as a few of
boats that went after stripers. There was a single bass caught that I know of, a 30” fish. I’m
sure that by up coming weekend there will be a good deal far more around
