Monster Shark Mackerel!!

www.reefari.com Another awesome day out trolling the reef, and we hooked and landed this monster Shark Mackerel. Shark mackerel usually average around the three to five kilo mark, but this one pushed the Scales down to 10.5 Kilos, definately one big Shark mackerel. Biggest I’ve seen in all my years fishing the reef, and same with the other skippers Sally and Matt. We got this one Trolling a halco laser pro deep diver at about 6 knots working the reef edges. Anyhow a pretty amazing fish which was big and fat and starting to look like a dogtooth Tuna. Shark Mackerel are good eating fresh, but don’t freeze well. We’ll either use them for fresh slab baits, or release.
