Hudson Canyon Overnighter 7.9-7.10

Left the dock at noon on Sat and pointed the bow southeast for our fist offshore trip of the year.

We set lines in at the suggestion and trolled down the east wall headed to the 100 sq. From the chatter on the radio it sounded like it was a little sluggish but men had been picking some YFT between 40-60 lbs. My friend Mike and his crew have been an hour or so in advance of us and had already been covered up by 4 whites as soon as he had all his lines in so we ended up quite optimistic about having a likelihood at some pointy fish as well.

We worked down the east wall to just beneath the elbow when we had our 1st fish. It was a lone fish that was swiftly brought to the gaff.. YAY!!! Skunk off the boat!!!

We worked that place for awhile and didnt have something else so we ongoing on our journey to the one hundred sq. About fifty percent way from the elbow to the a hundred sq we received hooked up with 4 fish but however we ended up only in a position to bring one particular to the gaff. We had one particular of the crimps on our ballyhoo rig fail??? The other two fish ran straight at the boat and came unbuttoned. With two fish in the box we felt great that we had a excellent spot to expend the night.

We anchored up and stared chunking. I have been doing work my A$ $ off for the previous handful of months with small to no sleep and I woke up at three am to open the deli Saturday early morning, so needless to say I went to sleep and left the distressing process of chunking all night to the crew.. thank God as we didnt have a touch all night. Some of the boats about us had fish and Mike picked up a pup mako and a little one sword on the chunk. I believe he also has two YFT when he 1st commenced chunking.

Up on the troll in the early morning operating our way out to the mouth. There ended up fish getting caught all about us but we acquired no love. We worked our way more than to the west wall and dropped down for some tiles to place some much more meat in the box and then started out our trip again to the barn. A single a lot more cease on a wreck to see if anybody was property and we have been greeted with some wonderful Pollack.

Not poor for only my third fishing trip this yr so I would have to say it was a good results.
