Full Moon Hawaiian Mahi

Headed out this previous Sunday early morning with variety of a double whammy operating versus us. A complete moon was up all evening and the ocean was glassy sleek, each circumstances considered the makings of inadequate trolling out here. But, we have been raring to go fishing and, remembering that luck transpires when preparation meets possibility, just needed an oppotunity simply because we undoubtedly had been prepared! Pushed throttle in the oily relaxed h2o and cruised on plane out into the channel even though searching for signs of fish, birds, porpoise, anything at all.

Last but not least arrived at an region exactly where there ended up scattered birds, so throttled back again and deployed a full spread of SuperBars. Worked the location and noticed enhanced symptoms of daily life with flying fish skittering about. Looked back again to verify the pattern and saw a mahimahi fly through the air and dive bomb my JT – hookup! Received that mahi into the bag and iced it down fresh fish for dinner!

Continued to operate the place, then spotted a pod of fake killer whales. Individuals guys hunt the identical fish we’re right after and are better at it than we are, so we ceded the immediate region to them and moved on a ways. The calm h2o was looking like a blue desert when the JT obtained hit once more! Woohoo, another mahi accepts the invitation for a boat trip to dinner.

Viewing how sluggish the bite is and getting worked by way of the tide change, we turned for property. A even though later on we get a farewell present in the form of a 3rd mahi tagging the JT. Now we’re really happy because we’ve received 1 mahi for each of the 3 of us aboard. On the way in, a tiny YFT commits suicide by hitting a MeatBall to give us some fresh tuna sashimi as properly.
