We’re really spoilt here in Mackay, smack bang in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef and definately some of the best reef fishing on the Planet. We’re out on another overnight fishing trip, and to make the most of the time, it’s pays to head out late afternoon to the reef, and of course fish a couple of spots on the way. And of course they went off, Lee Brake with a big 9.8Kg Red emperor on the first drop as well as a Nice Nannygai to Jamie. This was the first drop on the first drift, no bull, simply amazing. The great fishing continued for the next couple of hours with Nannygai, Flowery Cod, Sweetlip and A horse Spangled Emperor getting caught into the night. Definately an awesome session with three Reds, and heaps of laughs allround. Reefari has a heap of small untouched fishing marks wide of Mackay up to 100 kilometres offshore which haven’t seen a line or hook before and this is where this mind boggling action happens. These small bommies, pinnacles, rocks and shoals are only small and accurate drifting puts the boat and the customers amongst the fish. Keep an eye out on the videos, and you’ll see the marks and some great sounder footage.
