Fathers Day-Tuna Wahoo
Truly exciting Father’s Day nowadays, I had Gary Rantz, Mike Accordino, and Tom Kokalas on board for an offshore trip. The initial item on our agenda was Bluefin tuna, sadly somebody forgot to inform the bluefish that my Islander/Ballyhoo rigs have been not for them, so we had to deal eight or so of that variety. I managed to operate away from the bluefish and in 10 minutes we arrived tight to a great excess fat 32" bluefin. Gary had him in the boat in a few of minutes and the tuna was cored, packed with ice and popped in the fishbox just before he realized what occurred. The boys then made a decision they desired to go sharking, so we set up for that, and I had just gotten three lines out when the first one went off. A brief whilst later we launched a six foot blue shark. (Bluefish, Bluefin, Blue Shark…. all I required now was a Blue Marlin to show up and I would have a Blue Grand Slam!) Soon after the shark release we set out the lines and once again had an immediate run off. This time however the crew had gotten involved with a significantly greater fish, and some two hours afterwards, right after spinning in a million circles and dodging scallop draggers, we ended up in a position to boat a 200 pound Thresher shark. So that was Father’s Day, can not wait to do it once more!
