Fishing Report Oct twenty, 2011
Fall has finally arrived in the mountains, I woke to 39 degrees this morning and warming into the mid-fifties. The cooler climate is confident to get the Brown trout all fired up for the spawn. On the Watauga and some other rivers we are already viewing fish lying on beds or pairing up. On the Davidson we are just commencing to see fish pair up. We finally received a tiny a lot necessary-rain yesterday absolutely everyone that fished by means of the rain had a excellent day of fishing. Robbie, a single of our component-time guides, snuck out for a speedy moment on Tuesday and observed a great hatch of blue wing olives before the large downpour drove him off the water. He landed a number of hungry and aggressive browns on a dimensions sixteen blue dun caddis . On Monday he fished the upper Davidson with his two-fat and acquired the shock of his daily life when a 19-inch Brown inhaled his #14 caddis. Jack Camp took his daughter Liz fishing monday morning on the trophy water and had a great early morning. Gonzalo, 1 of the guides from Andes Drifters, my Argentina operation, is in town and he and I fished a modest blue line (wild trout stream) on Tuesday. We had a great day fishing dry caddis with a tungsten bead Dirty Bird, dimensions 16, as a dropper. Monday I guided Nicholas from the Raleigh region and his father-in-law, Dick, from Columbus, Ohio. We fished the East Fork of the French Wide in the morning and then moved to the Davidson in the afternoon. We fished dimension sixteen peacock gentle hackles on the two rivers. We also caught a couple of fish on pink San Juan worms and silver Lighting bugs on the East fork. Nicholas and Dick landed 18 fish on the East Fork and an additional 8 on the Davidson, with a good deal of fish misplaced at the net or broken off. The highlight was an 18" Brown and 19" Rainbow back-to-back again on the Davidson.
