Coast Guard suspends search for man missing near Southport, NC

WILMINGTON, N.C. &ampmdash The Coast Guard suspended its investigation for a guy who fell from the Southport municipal pier in Southport, N.C., Monday.

At around six p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Oak Island acquired a get in touch with from Brunswick County 911 stating that a man had fallen from the pier to the waters of the Cape Concern River.

Station Oak Island launched a crew aboard a 25-foot Response Boat &ampndash Little and a crew aboard a 47-foot Motor Existence Boat. Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth town launched an MH-sixty Jayhawk helicopter crew to support in the investigation.

Several rescue crews searched about 19 square miles over a 4-hour time period.

Participating in the investigation ended up crews from Oak Island Drinking water Rescue, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Company, North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission, Bald Head Island H2o Rescue, Southport Rescue Squad, Southport Police Division, Southport Fire and Rescue and the Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Stage Fire Department’s Dive Rescue and Recovery Staff.
