Coast Guard, local partners rescue 2 kayakers from James River
One kayaker had known as 911 soon after their kayak had overturned.
Newport News dispatch referred to as Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads watchstanders who launched a 25-foot Response Boat-Tiny from Station Portsmouth.
The rescue boat crew arrived on scene and found the two kayakers. Equally kayakers were safe and neither man or woman had any wellness issues. The two kayakers and their kayaks have been safely transferred to a Newport News fire boat that was also dispatched for the rescue.
Also responding were the Virginia Marine Assets Commission and Isle of Wight County rescue boats.
"They equally had lifejackets on, and the continual cell mobile phone contact with the dispatcher helped in the fast reaction of all units concerned," explained Jerry Besecker, operation unit professional at Sector Hampton Roads.
