Oprah and Great White Shark visit Sydney — December 12
While Oprah was visiting Sydney, skipper Steve Bracken and crew on Sydney Game Fishing Club boat “Makaira” were 20 miles east and being visited by another even greater female celebrity, a Great White Shark. They were trolling for game fish off the shelf, wide of Sydney when the great white decided to give them the once over. After a leisurely 10 minute inspection of Makaira and its occupants, including the normal nudging and mouthing routines of curious great whites, she bid the guys a fond farewell and slipped off into the cobalt depths. “There’s always the chance to hook up on marlin off Sydney, but how often do you get the opportunity to get up close and personal with a Great White?” Anyway it’s a day Steve and the boys won’t be forgetting in a while, hence them nicknaming her “Oprah”…….wonder where she is now……smart money’s on Fiji Filmed by S Bracken

How to fish for- and catch Flounder
This is me fishing in foggy Nova Scotia for flounder, more specifically blackback flounder, or more commonly known as the Winter flounder. Some anglers mistaken these flounder for the Summer flounder or fluke and sometimes for even for halibut. Flounder are clasified as ground fish. There is a 10 fish bag limit per day per person. I didn’t use my outboard motor cause I only fish about 75-100 yrds from where I launch my boat and I if I don’t have to put it in salt water I won’t. For some flounder fishing tips, I keep my rig simple, no need for fancy complicated rigging. I was only fishing in 10-15 ft of water right under the boat by my chum pot, so there was no need for swivels, or other fancy attractants. Begin fishing about 2 and a half hrs into the flood tide as the fish move inshore on the flood…I have’nt ever had too much success on the ebb tide. The bait I used was soft shell clams. I show myself digging clams and shucking clams…I use a very basic rig using only hook line and sinker in addition to the clams. I was fishing in tidal waters, salt water, fishing coastal waters, on the ocean…Verticle Jigging live bait and the use of chum pots are my favorite way to catch flounder. Winter flounder is sometimes called blackback, lemon sole and George’s bank flounder. It occurs in inshore and offshore waters from Labrador southward. A muddy reddish-brown, it is sometimes spotted or mottled on its eyed side, and its underside is often tinged with yellow. Inshore …

Big, large, Monster Cod, just massive!! by Sally!!
www.reefari.com Big monster cod by Sally on a recent three day fishing charter to the Great Barrier Reef, This trip was out to Charlie’s bommie, a small remote reef about 75 nautical miles(150 Kilometres) from Mackay. We had some sensational reef fishing for three days catching heaps of red emperor, coral trout, nannygai, spanish mackerel and heaps more. Watch out for TV Show on fishin trip with Jason Kennedy, coming out in October, A Big Red Emperor spectacular!! Sally our new skipper, caught this monster, a very large goldspot cod, also known as an estuary cod. would’ve have been easily over 20 kilograms. they can be hard to release after being pulled up from the deep, but Matty and Sally vented the fish, towed the big cod to revive him and eventually he swam off. Always great to release these big breeding fish, and they’re not great for eating when they get to this size. Well done Sally, top fish. Please subscribe with plenty of great fishing tips and action aboard our Reefari charters. Cheers Greg Make sure you check out our three day fishing packages for some of the best reef fishing on the Great Barrier Reef, and the planet at http
