Outta’ LINE: 50lb DOLPHIN (fishing: off shore trolling)
Deep sea fishing. Eighty miles off shore, just past the Deli off of Edisto Island in a 27 ft Twin Vee catameran called “Outa’ LINE.” Brab McCully (Cpt.), Dustin McCully, David McCully, Bill Hyatt… Crew caught a huge Dolphin (Mahi Mahi) in 450 ft deep water. Once back at the marina, it weighed in at 49.6 lbs.
City Furniture, Miami Fl, hosts a deep sea fishing tournament each year. The event benefits Covenant House of FL. The participants all leave at the same time and return 6 hours later. 2007 was an excellent year of fishing. Almost every one of the ten boats brought back large dolphin, kingfish and even two large sail fish were caught (but released, so you won’t see their pictures here). The event is a lot of fun and the proceeds fund a great cause! Thanks to the folks from City Furniture for hosting this event!

The fish in the pictures include-Mutton Snapper,most 15# with alot 20-24lb,DEEEEEEP Water Yelloweye,Yellowtail Snapper,Kings,Prehistoric Amberjack,a few Mangrove Snapper,Strawberry Grouper,Scamp to 10#,,(LOst alot of bigger ones) The Muttons battle most of the way up and what a great time this is! One after another,spot after spot,it was on, The entire crew is above excellent folks,and if you want to fill your freezer with highest quality fish,heres the ticket.Be prepared for bruised ribsmand sore arms folks,,and for the trip you will never forget. The fish in the pile at the end are atleast 2-3 deep and like I said,the Mutton Snapper are all really superb quality and mucvh bigger than they appear. An Awesome Day of fishing offshore in the gulf stream from Topsail Island, North Carolina with fish catches of Tuna, Wahoo, Amberjacks, Grouper, African Pompano, Cobia, and more. Aboard the Reel Return, it was Captain Scott Erickson, Boat Captain Taylor Perdue, and Mike Becker. We were trolling the bluewater, deep freestyle jigging in 175 to 250 feet of water with Blue Water Candy jigs and other lures 70 miles off the beach. This fishing is hard to beat anywhere; Wrightsville Beach, Wilmington ,the Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach, Emerald Isle, Hatteras…all great fishing but doesn’t beat home; Topsail.
