May 6, 2011 Lahaina Harbor, Maui
Every angler dreams of the day that they will get tight line on a huge tuna. Bill Sanders was in a position to reside this dream, hooking a 145 lb. yellowfin tuna. Bills ahi ate a live opelu on fifty lb. test line. Fighting these a huge fish on light tackle resulted in a 45 minute battle, which Bill sooner or later won. Excellent work Bill!
Placing forth the work to wake up early compensated off for Mike Vanhemelryck, Bill and Justin Hallock, and Grant and Ted White. The anglers went out on Start off Me Ups early trip and caught nine mahis on reside bait at the offshore FADs.
This wonderful bull mahi ate a purple softhead for Jelena Hallock. As every single angler would, Jelena truly had her work reduce out for her with a fish of that dimension. She did a excellent task fighting the fish as evidenced by the simple fact that her mahi ended up on the boat. Her husband, who was along for the experience, was even capable to get some great images.
The waters near Lahaina Harbor have been creating some fish lately. Debra and Mark Matthews capitalized on the inshore bite to choose up a mahi on a small morning trip.
Daniel and Tristin Sullivan also took benefit of the within bite. The father and son teamed up to catch this mahi on a small afternoon trip. Catching a wonderful cow mahi jointly is a very good way to bond.
Bill Connery didnt have to go significantly to locate his mahi. Bill joined the significant group of current anglers that have made the most of the inside of bite shut to Lahaina Harbor.
Jonah Bierisch hooked an ono that acquired absent. Jonahs consolation fish was this kawakawa that he caught on the ledge off Manele Bay, Lanai.
Dennis Schaffer arrived across a relatively cooperative ono and boated the fish. James Champion did the identical with his mahi. Catching a few of various species always mixes points up nicely.
Wayne Jarrett, Ben Venegas, David Bandazian, Cameron Stadnky, and Duane Wagner fished at an offshore FAD. They missed a couple of fish but managed to boat these three mahis even though employing bait.
Craig and Tammy Loggins, who are freshly married, caught a few of nice fish although trolling off Lanai on a brief morning trip. The mahi weighed in at a respectable 24 lbs. and the aku, also known as skipjack tuna, will make a delicious meal or two.
The area surrounding the Lanai lighthouse yielded some good fish for Rich Martin and Dan and Lori Kartman. Abundant and Lori each and every landed a mahi whilst Dan boated an ono.
Chad and Hawley Clark appreciated their initial sportfishing knowledge on Maui. Chad and Hawley caught a mahi in addition to a huge kawakawa which was about a few instances larger than the average specimen.
In this situation, the smiles truly say it all. James and Sam Kline had a great time on their afternoon trip. They capitalized on the afternoon bite by strategically steering clear of the early morning rush at the FADs. James and Sam went out to K buoy, in which they caught a 35 lb. bull mahi and 20 lb. cow mahi. Both fish ended up unable to resist bait on standup fifty lb. class rods and reels. The use of standup gear authorized James and Sam to actually battle their good mahis, resulting in an exceptionally entertaining trip general. Afternoon trips have been very productive recently. Two days before James and Sam went out, one more Commence Me Up afternoon trip caught twelve mahis at K buoy. That trip returned late to Lahaina Harbor and, however, no photographs ended up taken.
Kyle and Nathan Zanetto specifically targeted onos. Kyle and Nathan went two for a few whilst trolling a spread of jet heads at the slides on the backside of Lanai.
This lucky angler caught a big aku. Akus, also identified as skipjack tuna, are normally quite small, but larger folks are capable of attacking lures utilized to target mahi mahi. Occasionally catching a good aku can be a refreshing alternative in comparison to catching a mahi.
Chris Delia and Trent Miller enjoyed their initial sportfishing escapade off Maui. Chris boated an ono even though Trent caught the two a mahi and an ono.
Alex Threlfall and Jim McKinlay caught some sashimi although Jim Truwe caught a mahi for the barbeque.
The Murray and Reichel group picked up a couple of onos and a mahi even though fishing behind Lanai.
Mike Sager caught the fish of the trip with his large bull mahi. Even so, Tony Zumwalt and Dan Miller have been not left out of the action as they place 3 far more mahis in the bag. All of the fish had been hooked at an offshore FAD.
The McCarty loved ones manufactured fishing a loved ones affair and Ryan McCarty ended up catching a good mahi.
The Maris celebration was stored active landing several mahis and an ono. The anglers stated that they a fantastic time, as the fish and the crew furnished a exciting trip.
Kevin and Tara Knapp had a few of shots at shortbill spearfish as they trolled the ledge from LA buoy to Manele Bay, Lanai. Kevin and Tara ended up ready to catch and launch a good shortbill spearfish approximated at forty lbs.
This ono made the day for Drake Griffiths, who is eight decades outdated. As he should be, Drake is really proud of his catch. Way to go Drake!
Many thanks for checking out this Start Me Up fishing report. Any inquiries can be directed toward Deli in Start off Me Ups Lahaina Harbor booth at 808-667-7879 amongst 9 a.m. and five p.m. Hawaii Time. Another option is to e-mail startmeupfish@gmail.com. As prolonged as the waters all around Hawaii continue to create fish, the up coming report should be up in a affordable quantity of time. Right up until then, tight lines.
Aloha,
Jonny

Panama Big Game Fishing Club – Fishing Report April 2011 – New Owner
5th MAY, 2011
NEW OWNER Mr "C", BUYS THE "PANAMA BIG GAME FISHING CLUB", Isla Boca Brava, Panama
Multi-Million Dollar Investment in Club infrastructure upgrade and 400ft Dock Extension.
Dear PBGFC Members,
Hi, my name is Mark Charman, but my friends call me Mr "C", and I am pleased to announce that I have purchased your club the, " Panama Big Game Fishing Club" . Having spent several years looking for the right fishing resort to purchase – "Panama Big Game Fishing Club" is that "Resort".
Just to let you have some understanding, as to who I am, and to my intentions with the Club. Basically I am a 48 year old British guy from Jersey, Channel Islands, UK, who has been residing in Dubai and the Seychelles for the past 11 years. I have enjoyed business success in the Computer Industry, IT Recruitment, Oil and Gas and the Real Estate sector, but more importantly have been a passionate sports fishermen, since the age of 4.
My boat the M/Y Mistress and it’s crew recently entered the "Seychelles National Fishing Tournament" on the 16th April, 2011, and broke the Seychelles record for the biggest Giant Barracuda, (all tackle) – needless to say a lot of beer was drunk in celebration at the bar that night.
Anyway, enough of the preamble, let’s get down to the heart of the matter, I have been informed that there has been considerable speculation as to the future of the club, for quite some time now. So let me inform all of you, what is about to happen, should the majority give me their, "nod of approval". (I have no intention of swimming upstream with this project, you tell me what you want, and I will try to allocate the budget to make it happen).
I HAVE BOUGHT THE CLUB, AND INTEND TO TURN IT INTO AN OLD PEOPLES HOME !!!.
"NO, ONLY JOKING", (I could hear the American clientele screaming from here), THE CLUB IS GOING TO BE THE BEST BOUTIQUE CLUB IN THE WORLD, AND THE PRICES ARE GOING TO REMAIN THE SAME FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS, FOR THE EXISTING 4 CABINS (Which will be super luxury within the next 6 weeks, at the same price).
Now having said that, I have a hell of a lot of fishing friends, who want to come and catch a Huge Marlin or a Monster Tuna etc, I have promised Capt Lee, and he made it one of his conditions of retaining his services, that I give him 3 months for his regular clients (I.e. Clients that have fished with the club before, to be given preference, before I bring in my fishing buddies, this I have happily agreed to).
But I give you fair warning, as of September 1st, I am opening up the booking sheet to all my fishing mates, and I will be very surprised if you will be able to get 1 days fishing from the 15th December, 2011 until the 1st May, 2012, so please do not moan to me about giving my buddies preferential treatment. You, the members, have preferential treatment, so if you want to fish, then pick up the phone and book your fishing dates with Capt Lee on +507 66744824 NOW.
This special treatment to our members is giving me some very serious grief with my friends, but that was the price I had to pay to keep Capt Lee on, and I also agree with his sense of fair play (please don’t tell my my mates I said that, eat this letter after you have read it, otherwise I will need a completely new set of friends).
The area surrounding Boca Brava has one of the finest big game fisheries in the world, and is a virtually untapped resource. With the airport extension at David well underway clients will soon be able to fly direct to David internationally and not have to transfer through Panama City anymore, should they so wish.
My main criteria in buying PBGFC over and above other establishments that I have looked at around the world is the sheer size and abundance of the fish all year round, their staff and the quality of the food. Prior to my arrival I was told that all were world class. I found that information to be, if anything, an understatement. Needless to say all of the team will be staying on at the club, and are very excited at the new investment and development that is about to take place.
It is our vision to make PBGFC, one of the most unique Sport Fishing locations in the world – both for our visiting anglers and for private sport fishing yachts – we aim to provide a full service jetty with the Private Club feel. To this end I will be extending the existing jetty by over 400 feet and adding a waterside swimming pool/Jacuzzi with swim up bar plus a casual barasiti bar for anglers.
I am also completely renovating the Club, and will be able to take care of private sport fishing yachts with full service – including the provision of diesel and commercial quantities of ice, from our ice making plant across the waterway at Boca Chica.
This is what you can expect to see in the coming months.
1). All existing boats completely overhauled and re-equipped like brand new, with new engines where necessary
2). The addition of two new top spec boats to the fleet.
3). Doubling the size of the dock
4). Installing IGFA approved scales, and sending 2-3 employees on an IGFA course to become official IGFA approved weigh masters to certify our clients world records.
5). New employee quarters with full air conditioning and terrace with BBQ.
6). High Speed Wi-Fi throughout the resort, with Wi-Fi printing and scanning
7). Creation of a business centre for the use of clients and members with PC and Apple computers and complete with color printers/photo printers, Scanners, Fax and Photo-copiers
8). First of 8 new cabins – 6/7 star rated – extreme luxury. My designer Katie from Durban, South Africa, arrives and starts work 7th May, 2011 and will not be allowed home until she has finished.
9). Existing 4 cabins, will be re-made to 5/6 star standards, equipped with state of the art LED TV with DVD players, and luxury bath rooms, new soft furnishings and furniture, with individual fridges (filled with free beer).
10). Install, two swimming pools, one outside the club house, and the other on the deck overlooking the dock and the waterway (both with swim up bars).
11). New train with level floor and roof.
12). We will be building a retaining wall, for the entire sea facing side of the property.
13). Extensive Landscaping and Gardening.
Finally I would like to make this statement, " All of my life, whenever I have found a special fishing lodge, it has been ruined and priced out of my reach, by some get rich quick guy, who caught a fish once, and thinks it’s a great idea to own a fishing club", this is not going to happen with this club.
Right from the "GET GO", this is my promise to you, the members who have made this club, what it is, over the past 10 years, "I will immediately drop ONE MILLION DOLLARS into the club to improve the boats, accommodations, infrastructure, club house and the facilities that we offer our employees, AND THERE WILL BE NO INCREASE IN PRICE FOR THIS UPGRADE". There will be significant future investment in Stages 2 and 3 of our development plan. Which include a gymnasium and another restaurant with a small Spa (If the members want it). Plus Jet-Ski fishing, my latest favorite way to fish with a fly-rod, if you have never tried it you should – takes a lot of skill – plus Kayak Fishing, again great fun).
However, there are some of us who are going to die sooner than others, who have saved up our pennies and who would like a little bit of extreme luxury, therefore, I will build a few more cabins, to cater for these clients, who will be charged more for their fishing experience (I hope that seems fair- some people like to travel 1st Class!).
Anglers that have fished with us before, are going to be offered first chance rights on every week, every boat and every opportunity, as a thank you for supporting the club and building it to where it is today, and where it is heading to tomorrow.
THIS IS MY PROMISE TO OUR MEMBERS.
Remember, Capt Rob, Capt Bill and especially Capt Lee and his team built this club, (with your loyalty and help), It has enjoyed 10 years of success (with limited capital) with the support of the 1,000 loyal band of people who come back year after year. NOW your loyalty is going to be rewarded, I am going to invest a serious amount of money into the club to make it, the best fishing club in the world. This will be achieved with the help of everyone, and I am world famous for not being to proud to steal someone else’s great idea, so come on let’s hear your ideas, if they are any good, we will steal and implement them sooner rather than later, and that my friends, is a Mr "C" promise !!!.
I feel that I am not buying the Club, rather I have taken over the baton, and it is now my turn to take the Club, to the next level, This I can do, if I am shown the same level of loyalty and support that you have shown to my predecessors for the past 10 years, (who will be helping in the background, and have been made life time members, so they have NOT GONE, and have not been forgotten). And Capt Lee will be running the show, same as always !!!.
Tight Lines for now, (and I will be at the club for the whole month of May, should anyone want a chat)
Best Regards
Mark V Charman (Mr"C")

P.S. My pride of Joy is my M/Y Mistress which is moored at Eden Island, Mahe Seychelles She is the most tricked out Afri-Cat 420 Power Cat ever made! She is totally custom, and any one who is familiar with the Afri-Cat 420 knows that they come fully equipped. Well what my team and I did, was redesign everything. To make it easier for the layman to understand just how amazing the M/Y Mistress is it is this simple – take the cost of one Afri-Cat 420 then triple the brand new purchase price with extras and add-on’s and you start to understand the capability of this amazing CAT-A ship.
Not much that I need to add to the above except I am excited about all of the positive changes-plus all boats will be twin diesel Sportfish with at least 25 knot cruise-which is the huge deal for me – Capt Lee Allen Campbell
Hi Lee,
This fishing trip was definitely the best fishing trip I have ever gone on. The fishing (two black marlin, 40 yellowfin up to 200 lbs) was excellent, the food was almost as good and the facilities were trrific. We can’t wait to return next year with hopefully another group of four. Thanks for making it possible, Peter Harrison
What a great 4 days fishing at Panama Big Game Club! We’ll be back to catch the marlin and enjoy the gourmet food! Thanks again Lee. Mike & Jim

The mangroves had been on fire as well and they have been becoming rather stupid eating 60 pound leader like there was no tomm. Soon after we got our limit on the 2nd day we caught and introduced one more 20 mangroves whilst attempting to get some much more yellowtail snapper with no good results. We did get one particular yellowtail each and every of the final two days.
