OIFC fishing report 10-20

Do not Give Up On The Stream&quot | OIFC Globe Cat / Carolina Cat | 10/19/eleven

The title arrived from Bob Newell’s report of a trip he, Johnathan Olgesby, Andrew Sanderson and Matt Moore took on Bob’s Black Dog.

They have been all geared up for wahoo, but place one TLD 25 with a circle hook on board. They caught a great wahoo and some slinger mahi at the Steeples in the early morning along a weed line in 78 degree h2o. They determined to move at lunch and located great 80 degree blue drinking water at the 100/400. They set out wahoo gear and worked the ledges. Getting no luck, they made the decision to depart at three. But as they had been getting ready to just take up the sail fish started displaying up in the teaser and hitting planer rods, wire, you identify it! But they have been skunked, going four-, lacking sturdy hook ups with j hooks. One of the crew, Johnathan commenced prospecting and confident sufficient fish on!! with a perfect drop back again.

As Bob reiterated, never give up on the stream!

Many thanks for the report Bob!

&quotOffshore report&quot | OIFC Environment Cat / Carolina Cat | ten/19/eleven

As Rickey documented, we ran a few of complete day charters yesterday. We fished in 90 ft of h2o and caught a couple of Grouper, but the existing was undesirable which made bottom fishing tough. We made a decision to target on topwater gradual trolling and did quite properly with a handful of surprises. We noticed a great deal of the &quotauxillary&quot species (Jacks and Cudas) but spiced things up with Kings, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna and Dolphin — in October in 90 ft of drinking water- fairly calme. The problems have been fairly sloppy, but we ended up with a excellent catch and a excellent combined bag.

For all you Fall Brawlers out there, there are Kings in the 80-one hundred foot depths, but as far as I’ve seen as a result far, they are all in the 12-twenty pound array. In which are the big fish?? The offer this weekend is a single of the gambles– you can either wait at Lighthouse Rocks for the bite to turn on, and if it does, you are golden. Or, you can bank on it NOT turning on and head offshore a little bit to attempt to locate motion and hope to come across a good size fish. It is a challenging 1 to call. Pogys have been challenging for a week now. We caught them yesterday on Jaybird shoal offshore of the lighthouse. One particular point, if you do head offshore, there are lots of Cigar Minnows at artificial reefs and wrecks. If you remain inshore, the Bluefish have been about the inlet mouths- and, do not underestimate a Spot.

&quotReturning Buddies&quot | OIFC World Cat / Carolina Cat | ten/18/11

Tim Blanton of Integrity Air Checking of Huntersville, N.C. built a return pay a visit to to the OIFC chartering each Cat Boats Captaining the Cats had been Capt. Brant, Capt. Chris Dew and Capt. Steele Park. Becoming a member of them were Jim Lewis, Tim Agner, Gary Yoder, Athena Strickland, Dave Mundy and Larry McCaskill.

The boats stopped on their way out and got pogies in eight ft. of water and jigged up some monster cigar minnows. They started out working in a hundred foot deep drinking water in the place of the Horseshoe. The water was in the lower 70 diploma mark.

Jim caught a wahoo, Tim landed a king, Gary a blackfin and an amberjack and Dave boated a mahi and a grouper.

The happy crew made it to the docks just ahead of the rain set in. The rain couldn’t dampen their spirits.

&quotFall Brawl fishing forecast&quot | OIFC World Cat / Carolina Cat | 10/18/eleven

I have drawn on all the extremely technical information out there, and have concluded there is no way possible that this weekend at the Fall Brawl that the well-known Carolina fall King Mackerel beach bite will not likely be on fire. It has to transpire. The front coming Wednesday will awesome the waters down, and by Sat/Sun the circumstances will have stabalized. It really should transpire at Shallotte Inlet or Lighthouse Rocks. We’ll have boats fishing Thursday/Friday so we will have up to the moment intel to report. The weather conditions seems traditional fall northly winds thus flat on the seaside. This may possibly be the 12 months that the file is broke for the closest in the winning king has been caught. Latest file is a nine iron off the seashore[within the Shallotte Inlet sea buoy]. Come on down and join us for a spectacular fall Carolina weekend of King fishing.

&quotReason for Delay?&quot | Tiberias – 22′ | 10/17/11

Soon after a complete day of operate for the two mother and father our bun in the oven dinged! Thats correct! Just shortly following obtaining in the bed my spouse is hollering at me. My drinking water broke! As Capt. Brant would say, &quotOh Crap!!!&quot, my words just too. The chaos was by some means handled in organized trend. I assumed the baby was heading to come a lot more quickly, but it turned out to be a sluggish drawn out approach. What started out at 12:30a.m. Saturday morning did not come to an finish until one:59p.m. Saturday afternoon. Jasper Carlton Frick arrived at 1:59pm soon after halftime of the South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Mississippi State sport. Jasper weighed in a 8lbs. 8ozs and measured 20 inches. Healthy baby boy! You could not have asked for a much better day than that! A effective delivery of a healthy little one boy and the Gamecocks won. Two miracles on the very same day. LOL! See ya on the water!

&quotDelayed Reporting?&quot | Tiberias – 22′ | ten/17/11

David McConnell and buddies joined me on Friday of final week for a fifty percent day trip. The redfish bite has been excellent right here recently, so we went soon after them. The very first good hook up of the day was a wonderful trout. I continued to seem for a zinger redfish, but we could not locate one particular. We worked by means of a handfull of trout, rat reds, and one wonderful black drum. Some good eating at least. I am positive the redfish will occur back again to life as soon as the weather conditions will get consistent once again. See ya on the drinking water!
