Officially in the Billfish Club…on accident

Effectively we got to go out monday early morning and it was peaceful with a few hits but no hooksups till the drag went…and went…and went…right all around then I was pondering it was not a wahoo…which is what we had been expecting. After a prolonged fight and a small splash or two I was quite sure of it not currently being a Hoo’, then a jump around the boat showed us a Sailfish. Right after what seemed like an eternity we lastly gaffed it and acquired it in the boat and headed for residence. It was taken on a Williamson Blue and Pink Wahoo Catcher (that has now caught three wahoo, one Baracuda, 1 Skipjack, and now a sailfish) that did th damage,a fantastic hookup right in the front of the bottom jaw. We received him off the NE corner of Nauru near the Iju/Anibare districts line. When we obtained back we lastly acquired the beast weighed he was twenty.5kg and 225cm long (and I am 191cm…for this reason I obtained on the bow of the boat to get him off the ground to weigh him). He’s the most significant of the boat so far (a thirteen one/2 foot tinny 🙂 ) shattering the 11kg wahoo of a few months back. So I guess we’re officially in the Billfish club, thankfully starting at the reduce conclude of the spectrum.Attachment 193599Attachment 193600Attachment 193601Attachment 193602

6/11 Bailer Bonanza Inshore Of The 90

Hey, has any person at any time tried trolling from the 14 to the 90? 😎

These who did had been rewarded rather effectively on Saturday as they obtained closer to the 90.

But it was a rough trip out. I could only make 12 knots previous the knuckle. No whitecaps, but tough chop. And I was passing boats at that pace.

Lines in two miles shy of the 14. Essentially simply because I was bored of just riding close to.

Ongoing to be bored for a although. Yawn. No fish.

An hour later a slinger. Shock! He took the blue/white Ilander makeshift dolphin weenie factor.

Continued to push offshore above some stay bottom. Not lengthy thereafter there was all the bailers you wished. They came correct up to the boat when I stopped, as although I was flotsam. I tried to catch them with some light tackle, but they weren’t taking it. I experimented with Crystal Minnows and a Spro jig.

Ongoing trolling in that area. Picked up eight completely. Could have easily restricted out but I left two slots open for a big excess fat one particular or two which in no way occurred. Misplaced two nice ones at the transom.

Pushed farther offshore with absolutely nothing to display for it.

Virtually all arrived on blue/white Ilander makeshift dolphin weenie. The two even bigger ones hit Black Bart’s tuna candy. Bleeding dorado color. A football false albacore also hit that one.

1 boat on the radio noted that he misplaced count of the mahi that he was catching. I never think also numerous people had difficulty catching mahi if they have been in that area.

Video of this trip, and me trying (and failing) to catch the mahi with light tackle, can be identified
by clicking appropriate right here .

Blue Marlin OCMD 6.11.11

I would like to say &quotCongrats&quot Mike Bostic, Jr. from Price tag, MD. He faught the biggest blue marlin I have ever witnessed on Saturday afternoon. The fight lasted over four 1/2 several hours prior to we got the release, all on STAND-UP with a Penn fifty, 60 lb. mono, 130 lb. ande fluro leader, and seven/ jobu hook. We experimented with to get the monster by the bill to get some measurments &amp pictures but it didnt happen. To say the experience was &quotepic&quot is un understatement.

I dont know what # blue this is outta OC, I believe #4.

This day will be burned into our reminiscences permanently.

Canyon Runner Canyon Season Begins – 3 O/N In the Books – 15 YFT/16 BFT/5 Makos/1 White

And so it begins once more.

Canyon Runner Sportfishing received their 2011 canyon season off to a strong start off this weekend and currently have three overnighters in the publications with reliable catches on all three.
On Friday, June 10 Capt. Mark DeBlasio, Capt. Deane Lambros and mate Zack Ryba took an open boat trip down to the Spencer Canyon and trolled 4 extremely wonderful yellowfin in the 30-fifty pound class on Friday just before settling in for a night of sharking. The drifted in fifty-eighty fathoms at evening and speedily nailed a 100 pound mako that they let go hoping for a bigger one that never arrived. They did decide on a great brown shark as effectively in the course of the evening. The up coming morning observed no action at all for the whole fleet and quite little if any bait or existence.

With a lack of the life that we like to see to the south, on Sunday, June twelve the two boats headed to the Hudson Canyon and what a fantastic decision that was.

They stopped very first at the standard inshore Bluefin grounds and it was go time!!!! In just more than an hour of fishing each boats had their more than and below. The 48 Viking on another open boat trip with Capt. Mark and Capt. Deane and Kevin Myler as the mate were eleven for fifteen on Bluefin from 30 to one hundred pounds.

The 60 Ritchie Howell joined in on the enjoyable soon thereafter with Capts. Phil Dulanie and Jay Richardella with non other then William Howell (Ritchie HowellÂ’s youngest son). The Matt Magdison charter take pleasure in extremely swift action heading 5 for seven in less than an hour.

Of training course each boats tagged and release most of the fish only retaining their limit.

They then headed to the Hudson Canyon where the afternoon troll bit found the 48 Viking go five for six on yellowfin with most close to 30” and one particular up to forty kilos. The 60’ Ritchie only have one particular shot and place a 30” fishin the boat prior to the night time sharking journey started.

On the drift the action acquired great for boat with the 60Â’ Ritchie nailing three makos up of 70#, 110#, and 200# – they had the 110# very first so stored that and introduced the 200# and also had a few bluesharks. The 48Â’ had a one hundred# mako and handful of bluesharks and also eight tiles fish appropriate just before dark.

Up on the morning troll the 48 nailed a white marlin in, think it or not, 66 diploma drinking water and the 60’ went 5 for 5 on yellowfin – all in the 30’ class.

In complete 16 for 21 on Bluefin, eleven for 15 on yellowfin, 4 makos and 1 white marlin for both boats.
