Hunting at the post about the grander blue ingesting a tuna and the ensuing debate about calling the fish a grander I made the decision to commence this thread.

Let me commence with the statement that i am not discrediting any of the individuals concerned. Mark on the canyon Runner is as excellent as they come, and i would set far more faith in him calling a fish a grander than i would in alot of other people, other specialists provided.

I have had the dialogue with crewmembers on a mothership in OZ. the term grander will get thrown about alot above there. amongst there and Kona, that is exactly where the &quotif ya don’t weigh it, will not say it&quot phrase came from. Tons of grander pluses turn into 900 when they get weighed. it is just the nature of the recreation. For the magical grander mark, I have to concur with Reel Fool jeff- it ain’t a grander until its hanging from a scale with four digits displaying on the go through out. And to the guys quesioning his know-how, the boy has invested seasons in places exactly where most of this board masturbate to the thought of going to for a trip. I see each catch report that arrives by way of the OC marlin club system. No much less than 3 days this 12 months we have obtained catch reviews for blue marlin that on even more inspection (capt/angler sent me an email with a pic making certain they caught a blue) turned into white marlin. I have been involved in more than 250 blue marlin, i can count on one hand the number i would contact much better than 500. They are just not that typical.

Until finally we set a qualifed observer on every single boat, fish tales will happen. till you hang a four digit fish it ain’t a grander, its just a Massive blue marlin….
