Fall has started to arrive in the mountains, the drinking water temps are in the low to mid 60’s. We have not started out to see the fall hatches of Caddis and Slate Drakes and BWO’s nevertheless but we are expecting them anytime. Fish close to the hatchery are even now on the midge bite, some fish are nonetheless becoming caught on terrestrials. Fish on the main river are being caught on small soft hackle pheasant tails, and partridge and peacock. Smallmouth Bass: Far better get your final fix in on the warm days. Clouser’s, Crayfish and other subsurface flies will provide the most action.
