iphone sst app

Has anybody utilized the iphone with the sst app? Does it function like they claim? I cant imagine how it would perform if you have no reception offshore, wouldn’t it kill the battery like any other cellphone? The gps would function but not the info feed is my guess. Any person tried using it?
