400 lb Goliath Grouper Fishing (Jewfish) – Boca Grande Florida
A 400 pound Goliath Grouper (also known as Jewfish) caught in the waters of Boca Grande Pass in Southwest Florida. This was caught during a charter with Captain Tom McLaughlin of Another Keeper Charters in December of 2008. For more info, please visit www.anotherkeeper.com.
We went out for a full day of Chinook (King, Spring) Salmon fishing with 2 Reel Fishing Charters. www.2reel.ca We can’t explain how much fun we had with them and fishing guide Ron Neitsch. Leaving the docks at Sooke Harbour Resort and Marina, early in the morning, we arrived at the fishing grounds 10 minutes later. The water was nice and calm, something not unusual in this area. No ground swells and large rollers like the open ocean. We spent a full day with 4 large Salmon on the gear but only 1 in the boat. I can tell you though that the fun is with the fish on, getting them to the boat is ideal, but it’s certainly not disappointing. The battles lasted anywhere from 3-8 minutes. The fight is intense and physical. It was a blast. I will do it again with 2 Reel Fishing Adventures in Sooke, BC. Located on Vancouver Island, just a 45 minute drive from downtown Victoria, BC.
